Susan Rice: All of this Benghazi criticism is “unfounded”

posted at 2:01 pm on November 22, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Following her now-infamous round of Sunday talk shows after the attacks in Benghazi that resulted in the deaths of four Americans in September, U.N Ambassador Susan Rice seemed to kind of drop off the face of the earth, despite the ensuing firestorm over what now look an awful lot like deliberately misleading comments. The rumor that President Obama is considering her as a replacement for Hillary Clinton as head of the State Department hasn’t done anything to quell outrage the past few weeks, but still nary a word from her.

Ambassador Rice finally broke her silence on the subject on Wednesday, and defended her remarks by insisting that they were based on the best information she had at the time provided to her by the intelligence community. Via Reuters:

“I relied solely and squarely on the information provided to me by the intelligence community,” said Rice…

“I made clear that the information provided to me was preliminary and that our investigations would give us the definitive answers,” Rice told reporters at the United Nations in her first comments on the controversy. …

“Everyone, particularly the intelligence community, has worked in good faith, to provide the best assessment based on the information available,” Rice said. “None of us will rest … until we have the answer and the terrorists responsible for this attack will be brought to the justice.” …

Rice said some statements about her by McCain were “unfounded.” “I look forward to having the opportunity at the appropriate time to discuss all of this with him,” she said.

She relied “solely and squarely” on info from the intelligence community? That seems a bit odd, considering that the intelligence community suspected terrorism from the very beginning, which means that something doesn’t fit here — and the most obvious possibility for that missing link is that somebody high up in the food chain tweaked the talking points on a very inconvenient situation with only weeks to go before a close presidential election, although the White House has denied having done so.

Anyhow, there may well be bigger things to focus on than Susan Rice’s personal involvement, i.e. who it was that made the call to have her talk up that stupid “video” thing, why security in Benghazi was so poor, etcetera, but as for McCain and others’ criticisms and objection to her potential appointment to secretary of State being “unfounded”? …I don’t know about that. Rice was an active participant in what we still have reason to suspect was a coverup, and to quote Douglas Adams, “If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.”

She wants that Sec of State job pretty bad I see. Not gonna happen!

I thought the talking point was that she was clueless. So how would she know what’s unfounded?

Ronnie on November 22, 2012 at 9:16 PM

Shhhh! You’re showing her to be a transparent liar.

She was going for opaque.

profitsbeard on November 23, 2012 at 12:36 AM

Poor little thing- Obama and the boys played her like a fiddle. Give the ambitious black female a set of bogus talking points to throw the public off the trail- no one will dare challenge her. Test her loyalty at the same time- see how much heat she’s willing to take and how well she handles it. If the whole thing falls apart, throw her under the bus and call it the republican war on women.

It was said we could never win in Vietnam because we wouldn’t go as far as the enemy. The republicans will never win at home for the same reason.

The ‘appropriate’ time has long since past madam. Can I call you madam? ‘Cause I know you worked so hard for your position? If I had lied my ass off similarly at work, I’d be packing my sh*t and escorted out the main entrance the next day (Adios, sayonara, au revoir, GOOD-bye). The ruling political elite class are held to a different standard and the msm makes sure that the leftist ruling class are held to no standard.

Just say it…..I don’t care. Obama is awesome.

Just like a good little foot soldier in the lib army of make it up as we go along so long as it sounds good for the reelection of the Won, Ms. Rice trotted out on stage to talk up the video. Can’t wait for McLame and Grahamesty to bring the Benghazi thing up again in hearings.

It totally amazes me that these so-called feminists can be so wrong. They kept wanting to play in the boys’ game and now that they’re there, they can’t see the forest for the trees. Talk about being used.

These liars are going to do what they want, when they want, and the silk suited republicans are not going to do a thing about it. Until the republicans are replaced with men with some bells we are doomed. Look what happened with Allen West. The liars walked all over him, snd the rinos in Washington didn’t blink an eye. They are on the wrong side of this…

Obviously, this is just more “unfounded” criticism.

Clueless Suzie was only parroting what she was told, never questioned it, and had absolutely no idea there was anything at all wrong with it. She was totally out of the loop on that possible terrorism Al Qaeda, connection. Never even even considered the possibility even though it was the 11th anniversary of 9/11.

She is either lying being extremely disingenuous or she is stupid. She’ll make fine Secretary of State, won’t she? If she can lie this blatantly to the American people and get away with it, then surely she can lie to foreign diplomats and get away with it, right? Because foreign diplomats are just as stupid as the majority of the American people, or something.

Six degrees of separation is the idea that everyone is on average approximately six steps away, by way of introduction, from any other person in the world, so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made, on average, to connect any two people in six steps.

She was a good “fellow traveler” who knowingly (and yes, she was fully briefed) lied to all of us on behalf of her Sovereign.
She has “plausible deniability” …
Thanks to the rest of the liars with whom she works and FOR whom she works.
Now, put her under oath along with the rest of this cabal and get this train wreck back on track to sanity before we dig this ObaHole any deeper.

S. Rice has been a time-stalling agent. Intended to set a new tale of discussion while the original and important one loses critical focus.

And no way is she innocent or somehow blameless in her role playing here. Noting that’s now her latest excuse (“was acting on intelligence available to me…”).

This is part of Obama’s stalling campaign. BY the time anyone on the Left gets around to analyzing Benghazi and Obama’s hands in that mess, it’ll be twenty years from now and they’ll be making a movie about it featuring Obama’s youngest child as the heroine.

Lourdes on November 23, 2012 at 12:48 PM

I don’t know…I mean, if the “Intelligence Services” don’t feel they can trust you with the whole story….

And the coverup of the coverup begins…or is that the coverup of the coverup of the coverup?

ProfShadow on November 23, 2012 at 12:55 PM

It couldn’t have been terrorism, because Tom Donilon can’t even spell “terrorism”.

Another Drew on November 23, 2012 at 1:02 PM

“I relied solely and squarely on the information provided to me by the intelligence community,” said Rice…

…which supported the conclusion that it was caused by a two month old internet video?

Every time someone from the admistration speaks about this issue, they end up digging themselves a deeper hole because they can’t explain how the inclusion of this video made its way into the intelligence estimate – which it never did. But hey, that’s their story and they’e sticking to it – no matter how ridiculous they look defending it.

If only abortion had been legal when this lying hag had been concevied.

Come to think of it… I think the chances of of the conception of some communist white trash hooking up with a wandering kenyan sperm donor probably also would have ended up in a garbage receptacle.

Ironic that that #1 issue on their agenda probably would have precluded their brilliance from ever getting around to destroy our country.

Just another incompetent part of Obama administration

Rice will never be nominated. She knows it Obama knows it

Sen Kerry knows it

Redford on November 23, 2012 at 7:11 PM

Regardless of her other faults, taking two months to come up with a lie to cover up her previous lies proves Rice isn’t suited for another high office.

RobertE on November 24, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Why not just lock up people who point out that she’s lying?
