The debates proved that Romney was the most appealing Republican in the crowd. Appealing to VOTERS. Republican voters.”

No. the debates proved that Gingrich was the most appealing debater in the crowd and Perry the least appealing. But that didn't matter, because the Romneyites said so, because Romney was inevitable and the only electable candidate. They had polls to prove it. And they were spectacularly wrong.

The movie Game Change was very sad and I suggest that you watch it, assuming that you have an open mind.

Why would I want to watch a completely fictional account of the 2012 race? I read the book it's based on and I know it's fiction, and fiction designed to make Republicans look bad, and particularly those extreme, pro-life (but I repeat myself) types.

Sarah Palin is quite obviously a smart lady. She's not an intellectual, she's got practical savvy. And the more schmucks who parrot the lib line that she's stupid, or that it's somehow her fault that she suffered the worst and most undeserved character assassination in recent memory, need to reevaluate. No one is perfect. Not even Governor Goodhair. Palin's positives are that she is brave, very much in touch with American pop culture, and nearly always spot on in her gut conservative instincts. Her negatives are that she speaks in colloquial Alaskan English and many Americans, possibly a prohibitively large proportion, believe a number of lies about her. That many people believe them doesn't turn the lies into truth, however. She will remain brave, in touch with pop culture and spot-on in her conservative commentary. It's up to us to decide if its worth pushing back on the immensely-successful smears. I think it is. We can't spare this woman, she fights!

Wow, what a good little idiot you are. You are totally sold on what the media has told you.

Hint moron, that is the plan for anyone that is conservative. The more conservative, the more so.

It is a bipartisan effort as well. Reagan was detested almost as much by Republican big wigs as he was by progressives. Newt Gingrich was as well. The reason is that at this point in history, the government is so far beyond the boundaries of the constitution that conservatism is pretty much all about removing power from the government. The same government that Democrats, Republicans and Independent candidates use to their benefit and their cronies benefits.

So, what is your plan? Keep moving leftward until we are destroyed, or actually put forward conservative candidates? I guess it pretty much no longer matters, since our nation is not likely to survive long enough to turn things around in time.

Are one of you guys up there an employee of or married to former Governor Palin?

A Congressman does not have the same menu for action as an executive and that is why it is a plus to have been a Governor before heading for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Sarah Palin was a good governor on paper then showed a real concern for her state. Like President Obama, she quit when it suited her.

Cong. Ryan showed more courage and cerebration and suffered a lot more than she did.

If she had drafted a budget as Cong. Ryan did and had the heat for her efforts, the whine would have been deafening. Then she would have cracked or gone on a weird bus tour.

I like the two of them but think both are sub par for VP. Cong. Ryan was really the wrong choice for Mitt Romney. Adopting that whole budget and then having a helper no personality or attack technique when facing the Dems in general and Joe Biden in the debate, helped Mitt very little.

Of course, Sarah didn't exactly mop the floor with Vice President Joe in her debate and missed glaring errors the man made.

Somehow, Governor Palin has convinced a lot of experts that she is an idiot. Managers of McCains campaign seem to hate her. They sway many people. I haven't seen her attempt to demonstrate anything to them to change that.

The movie Game Change was very sad and I suggest that you watch it, assuming that you have an open mind. Then think whether an individual who can alienate so many people is a good choice on the national ticket or potentially holding the top job. She is not a Democrat so anything that can be written or said to hurt her or her programs would be.

The most amusing act of the puerile gang of clowns responsible for Game Change is the complete blindness regarding VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN (and a few others) as they tore up Sarah Palin as the most silly and dangerous mental case ever to seek office.

I didn’t know proposing a budget that didn’t pass was an accomplishment. I didn’t know talking about entitlement reform with no action taken was an accomplishment. Very accomplished, that guy Ryan!

Actually changing the national conversation on entitlement reform is a huge accomplishment. Before Ryan came along, it was taboo to touch the third rail of politics. Republicans were scared to propose any changes to Medicare or Social Security because of Mediscare and the Republicans hate grannies and want to kill him. Ryan made a huge gamble that people appreciate being treated like adults and told the truth about the government. This actually turned out to be a correct assumption. Any grand bargain is going to have to include serious entitlement reforms in it, and the objections to entitlement reforms have been neutralized. I don't see any anonymous Republican Steve Schmidt or David Frum sorts screeching about Ryan and Medicare.

Want real accomplishments? How about a woman who actually balanced a budget for every year she was governor. How about a woman who actually proposed and passed ethics reform. How about a woman who cut earmark spending every year she was governor and by the end at an average of 9.8%. How about a woman who proposed a renewal energy plan to have her state using 50% renewable energy by 2025; by 2008 when still in office she was on target at 25%. How about a woman who proposed and passed an energy tax plan that left her state with $16 Billion surplus. How about a woman whose management of her state’s economy raised their credit rating from A to AA. All of these she accomplished with bipartisan support with an approval ratings of 88-90%.

It's actually easier to balance the budget of Alaska than the budget of Wisconsin. Alaska relies heavily on oil resources for revenue, so when oil is expensive, they do well. Not sure why she didn't stay in office and do something like expand on her energy plan rather than quitting. Palin got screwed by the McCain campaign and wasn't ready for prime time. Her best bet was to stay in office, develop an agenda and brand, and rack up some huge national level accomplishments. She cashed in and will be making lots of money as a commentator. However, she won't be winning a Presidential nomination.

Been a while since I posted, for what should be obvious reasons.

I complained about Romney right up front. I asked any Romney supporter to explain to me how the guy who couldn't even beat McCain was gonna beat the guy McCain couldn't beat. Not once did I get an answer. The question was considered too pedestrian I guess. Anyone care to answer it now?

I changed my mind after the Ryan pick. I stated openly that I would vote for Ryan, and I would be voting on the presidential ticket. For the second time in a row I found myself voting for a second banana who should have been first. It all felt so familiar, and the result was exactly the same, as I predicted it would be.

I've stated any number of times that we are past the tipping point. Anyone who called me a pessimist wanna argue with me about it now? Anyone who questioned my knowledge of history care to now tell me how this is just an anomoly, and everything will STILL turn out ok?

Anyone wanna apologize and start voting for conservatives? Yeah, I knew that was too much to hope for.

Learn history. Know what's coming. Prepare.

Or continue to believe we can turn this around. Kinda makes you look like leftist unicorn fart worshippers though. Just sayin.

Yeah.
When the candidate does not do what is needed to win... He is an imbecile and he deserves every bit of derision he gets. People who backed the imbecile and refused to force him to make course corrections so he could win are Imbeciles and deserve every SCOTUS appointment Obama makes, Obamneycare, and the years of corruption, lies, Benghazis, more Arab states going MB, economic stagnation.

Petulant, suicidal imbeciles.

It works both ways.

The problem being that next go around, you are not going to have the same imbecile Romney as the candidate, but what you will have is a large group of people that hate you even more than they did in 2012 because you have been hating on them, rather than laying the blame where it belongs, the CANDIDATE whose job it was to persuade voters, rather than fear monger them into submission.

I didn't know proposing a budget that didn't pass was an accomplishment. I didn't know talking about entitlement reform with no action taken was an accomplishment. Very accomplished, that guy Ryan!

How about a woman whose management of her state's economy raised their credit rating from A to AA. All of these she accomplished with bipartisan support with an approval ratings of 88-90%.

Nice try though to change the subject and spout off left-wing talking points. I posted a link to Palin's accomplishments as a governor, which by the way, she did in all but 21/2 years. Now, you can pretend to not know the reasons for her stepping down from the governor's seat, but that's a fool's game you welcomed to play alone.

And trying to put Palin, a former 2 term city Councillor, 2 term Mayor, president of Alaska state mayors, Chairwoman of an Energy & Conservation board, Alaska state oil & gas regulator, former governor, vice-presidential candidate into the same category as Rubio, a 2 year senator? Please child.

By the way, am still waiting for Ryan's accomplishments.

FYI talking about stuff don't count!

This is really infuriating for me. Too many people even on our side are acting like Romney made a really huge gaffe with his "47%" and "gifts" remarks. Do you people even know what the Democratic party is even about? It's about satiating the whims of their voters, and what Democratic voters want is gifts. They want government programs to take care of them for their entire lives, they want free food and free stuff, and they don't want to ever have to pay into it. Some rich guy will or something.

No? Tell me, then. Does anyone remember in 2007 when Hillary Clinton was proposing to give mothers who bear a child $5000 bucks, ostensibly to take care of their kids? Go on, someone who thinks that "gifts" was a terrible thing for Romney to say, go ahead and explain to me how that's not a gift. Then there's the stimulus money which basically rained down upon union workers. That's not a gift either, huh? This is the MO for every Democrat. Buy people off and don't give even half of a thought for how the hell you're going to pay for it.

Romney is right. We all need to recognize that he's right, because you know what? The fact that so many American voters are more interested in who is going to buy them off than in the future of their country is one of the greatest threats we face today. If we can't deal with that, we are well and truly screwed.

Obama lost over 7 million total votes from his 2008 vote totals.

If the people were bought off, it seems illogical that they did not come out to vote for those gifts.

If on the other hand what happened was that Romney was a terrible candidate, did not inspire the base, and was not a big enough differentiation from Obama to wake up any of the unengaged electorate who stayed home.

I think conservatives turned out. I think they were not effective in getting anyone else to join with them at the voting booth. Either because they refused to try to sell the turd, or were not able to sell the turd who spent a large part of his campaign disparaging them and ignoring them.

The GOP was looking at polls about how excited the base was to get out and vote. The Engaged base...

I think what they should have asked in some of the polls was, how excited are you to sell Romney to your Family Members, Friends and Neighbors. How likely are you to take those people to the poll on election day and ensure they vote.

I was convinced the Conservatives did not turn out. After careful consideration after the fact, it seems to me that what really happened was they turned out just fine, but were not willing to sell Romney to anyone and carry them to the polls on election day.

It comes down to the same selling point.
