Thanksgiving Day: Thank you, Israel

Music plays in my home, throughout the day, no matter what I am busy doing; this particular video’s music is very light, brings cheerfulness to the soul and what a great way to bring a heart to a point of “Thanksgiving”. I think that through tears, our hearts count our blessings and that has been this year, for me, often.

It’s been a rough year, a year of disappointments and then, suddenly, like the blooms on the flowers you see here, life became so beautiful, refreshing, and new! I thank you, dear friends, for your kindness and many E-mails that were so encouraging; I thank the Lord for my family; for the roof over my head and the warmth inside; and this year, in particular, I want to thank our dear friends living in Israel.

What a blessing to see the people and my personal friends in Israel, under fire from rocket attacks and bombings, never give up. What an amazing attitude and strength you demonstrate to the world and, to those who love you! I wish each and everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, and even to those who do not celebrate this holiday, because every day is thanksgiving in their hears and souls.

annoyinglittletwerp on November 21, 2012 at 10:36 PM

So here are a few kids’ recipes on how to cook a turkey:

Julian writes:
“Ingredients: hot sauce, rice and broccoli”
“Directions: Bake at 16 degrees for 6 hours”.

Brook has a different idea. Not quite in terms of how to cook that turkey, but she’s being creative in her list of ingredients:
“Ingredients: sprinkles, seasoning and hot sauce”
“Directions: Bake at 1 degree for 2 hours”.

Rachel favors “popsicles and candy” and doesn’t hesitate to add that to the list of ingredients. For Xavier, it’s “marshmallows” that needs to be added, or the turkey wouldn’t be good enough. He has a point.

Elena is more radical in her cooking style:
“Ingredients: salt, rice”.
“Directions: Bake at 1000 degrees for 4 hours”.
Probably for a nice, golden, crispy outer skin.

More subtle (from Ray):
“Ingredients: turkey, chicken”
“Directions: Bake at 1 degree for 1 minute”.

And my personal favorite:
“Ingredients: turkey, eggs, milk, food coloring and chef’s clothes”
“Directions: Open turkey, put food coloring in it, add eggs then put on chef’s clothes. Put into oven on warm for 2 minutes.”

Ain’t kids wonderful eh!!!

President GHW Bush has gone on the record as hating this “tradition.” The rat-eared wonder loves it because he gets to go in front of the cameras without a teleprompter and nobody is going to ask the filthy Kenyan bastard a question.

To everybody who posts here (even idiots like Dante), I hope you are able to appreciate how unique in history it is to have the freedoms we enjoy. I would like to think you are with me in wanting to defend those freedoms even when our nation is being destroyed by socialists.

But most of all, let’s just give thanks for all our blessings. We fuss and fume over what is covered by Obamacare. Go to the nation of Obama’s father. Kenyans outside the cities would be happy to have regular access to healthcare. Free contraception isn’t an issue.

We truly have much to give thanks for even though our political process sucks.

Adam Sandler’s Thanksgiving Song

portlandon on November 21, 2012 at 11:09 PM

First, a very happy and hopeful Thanksgiving for our troops and their families who find themselves apart by geography, but not heart, on this special day (their time). What you all do so that we here can celebrate this wonderful time of year is something we cannot ever repay. God Bless each of you and may He bring you all together soon.

Second, a happy Thanksgiving to all here, including the sane and the lame and even the zany among us. Not any different than my family and most of yours, I’m sure.

Third, as to the trolls and others here whose gene pools have been peed in by someone or some thing along the line, may you be thankful for having another few days off from work. Isn’t that what Thanksgiving really means?

*Clinks* to all.
