November 1620:

Being thus arived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven, who had brought them over the vast and furious and ocean, delivered them from all the periles and miseries therof, againe to set their feete on the firme and stable earth, their proper elemente. . . . Being thus passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles before in their preparation (as may be remembred by that which vente before), they had now no freinds to wellcome them, nor inns to entertaine or refresh their weatherbeaten bodys, no houses or much less townes to repaire too, to seeke for succoure.

Winter 1621:

But that which was most sadd and lamentable was, that in 2. or 3. moneths time halfe of their company dyed, espetialy in Jan: and February, being the depth of winter, and wanting houses and other comforts; being infected with the scurvie and other diseases, which this long vioage and their inacomodate condition had brought upon them; so as ther dyed some times 2. or 3. of a day, in the foresaid time; that of 100. and odd persons, scarce 50. remained., And of these in the time of most distres, ther was but 6. or 7. sound persons, who, to their great comendations be it spoken, spared no pains, night nor day, but with abundante of toyle and hazard of their owne health, fetched them woode, made them fires, drest them meat, made their beads, washed their lothsome cloaths, cloathed and uncloathed them; in a word, did all the homly and necessarie offices for them which dainty and quesie stomacks cannot endure to hear named; and all this willingly and cherfully, without any grudging in the least, shewing herein their true love unto their freinds and bretheren.

Early autumn 1621:

They begane now to gather in the small harvest they had, and to fitte up their houses and dwellings against winter, being all well recovered in health and strenght, and had all things in good plenty; for as some were thus imployed in affairs abroad, others were excersised in fishing, aboute codd, and bass, and other fish, of which they tooke good store, of which every family had their portion. All the sommer ther was no wante. And now begane to come in store of foule, as winter aproached, of which this place did abound when they came first (but afterward decreased by degrees). And besids water foule, ther was great store of wild Turkies, of which they tooke many, besids venison, etc. Besids they had aboute a peck a meale a weeke to a person, or now since harvest, Indean coree tb that proportion. Which made many afterwards write so largly of their plenty hear to their freinds in England, which were not fained, but true reports.

Account from Mourt’s Relation:

Our harvest being gotten in our Governour sent foure men on fowling that so we might after a more speciall manner rejoyce together after we had gathered the fruit of our labours. they foure in one day killed as much fowle as with a little helpe beside served the Company almost a weeke. at which time amongst other Recreations we exercised our Armes. many of the Indians coming amongst vs and amongst the rest their greatest King Massasoyt with some ninetie men whom for three dayes we entertained and feasted and they went out and killed five Deere which they brought to the Plantation and bestowed on our Governour and upon the Captaine and others. And although it be not alwayes so plentiful as it was at this tune with vs yet by the goodnesse of God we are so farre from want that we often wish you partakers of our plentie.

William Bradford closed his chapter describing their safe arrival at Cape Codd by saying:

May not and ought not the children of these fathers rightly say: Our faithers were Englishmen which come over this great ocean, and were ready to perish in this willdernes; but they cried unto the Lord, and he heard their voyce, and looked on their adversitie, etc. Let them therfore praise the Lord, because he is good, and his mercies endure for ever. Yea, let them which have been redeemed of the Lord, shew how he hath delivered them from the hand of the oppressour. When they wandered in the deserte willdernes out of the way, and found no citie to dwell in, both hungrie, and thirstie, their sowle vas overwhelmed in them. Let them confes before the Lord his loving kindnes, and his wonderfull works before the sons of men.

That damn turkey ought to have been hung! He’s white isn’t he? In the New Amerika the likes of him don’t deserve mercy. He’s the reason the world is in the sorry state it is, or so I have been told my whole life.

There is a new society coming where the old ways aren’t welcome. Shakespeare and Einstein, and all those other dead white guys are to be thrown on the trashheap of history and post modernism tells us that there sad attempt at imparting reality has FAILED. Failed, because there is no reality, just whatever crap the next political thug imagines and has the will to make the truth.

This sounds silly, but its what the abncients beliebed and history to them was more about story telling than truth. Thats what we have become…savage throwbacks to am uglier age, when force and violence and the thread of mythmaking mattered more than we laughably passes for truth. We think the truth is so inviokate, but it sin’t.

The lefties have it right. The truth is what we MAKE IT, and they have the will to make it what they want.

They are going to win!!!!!!! Have won.

Wars are won in the will. They are winning this war because they believe and the right is broken. Brokem of will and coward;ly. You don’t think so? John Beoner!!!! There is no counter arguement to that.

John Beohnera nfd hos ilk are embalamatick of the weakness of the right. Romney and mnccain, and even Palin are afraid and bend the head to the lefts cultural dominance.

We have lost. Bitter enders is all we are.

Fascism or communism is the wave of the future. Take your pick. Ain’t it grand?? Once the left takes hold, like Isalma it never lets go.

Dp you know that communism is still popular in Russia? Yes sirrie, its still a going thing and that should tell you something if you care to listen!!

Islam and Marxism appeal to the worst in human beings and that is what they default to when the wages of stupidy come due. We sitr here and we think that they will come to Jesus when the SHTF BUT that ISN’T WHAT HISTORY TEACHES YOU IGNORANT BOOBS!!

History teaches that people choose the easieest way out. The absolute minimum of thinking,. Choose that and you wiolll be the prognostcator of priogmistatcors.

The guy who was involved in the watergate coverup said something I will never forget.

People will do what succedes.

If women flocked to the guys who wear pink flamingo hats then that si what guys wuill wear within the week.

We have subsidzed socialism and we shouldn’t be surprised that socialism is the future. It might be national socialism or it might be internatioanl socialism, but IT WILL BE SOCIALISM in one form or aNAOTHER YOU IGNORANTY PEASANTS.

Wish I had some good news for you but there just isb’t . If you study history you get cynical about human nature and the way that people are. You see the deeper rivers of human nature and the progressive BS stops being something you can believe in,.

You get colder and meaner, and even if you don’t want to beliebve it, you are forced to go there. People are cowards and they become better than their nature only if a higher socoiety impels thenm in that directuion

But we hate that higher society, because that higher society implies that you are a sh!thead if you don’t meet the standards of that society. So the weak and the grotesque make an alliance that is forged in a pact to destroy the makers of standards. Standards are the bane of this alliance. They cannot stand the judgements that an arbitrary standard would make.

And are not all judgements arbitrary? When does a coach become a chair? Arbitaray judgement on that and on everythibng!

Everything is arbitrary and thats the dirty secret they don’t want to tell you!

They like to use that arbitray judhement and its arbitrariness as if that in itself is something to delegtimize the judgement itself.

They cannot stand to be judged. Thats the truth.

Drambuie. I have been drinking.

Judgement breaks their will. Its shateering to their world view and its what they hate more than anything else.

I am not a Christian. Did you notice thatr I capitalized Christian?? Thats because Christians are worthy of respect because they are what created our civilization.

I am not a Christian because I cannot believe in what I don’t believe. But I have a lot of respect for thos Chistians v=be cause they built civilization.

Whatever they had…..IT WORKED YOU ATHEISTS MRONS!

i MEAN HOW hard is it to realuize what worked and what created chaos?

I guesss too many aethists beliebe that the left has the answer but the right has the economic solutuions. Well gueesss what Mr libertarian?

iTS A PACKAGE DEaLA.

You don’t get to choose the parts yoyu like and the parts you don’t.

Thats why I am fine with being a a hypocrite.

The hypocrite. Thats me. I don’t beliebe in God. H3e’s a big myth. But thats thtats OK, because he meansd we get to have things like rights. Ever herad of those?

Thos eare the things that mean I am not supposed to cut your head off and mount it on a spike in from of my castle. Thats bad,

Those are the things that are fading away.

Oh sadness.

Now its just naked power. They, the left have that power and the right lacks it.

Why?

Principles. Those damn inconvenient things. We have principles. Sad bastards that we are we believve in things. That means we will stab each other in the ey because of those damn principles and the left who beliebves in nothing but the will to power (niestche_ will win.

They will win because they see clearer than we do that power is what matters and the rest is BS.

We attack each other because we believe in stuff and they believe in cforcing their will on others. Assyriabs, Mongols, Romans, the names change but the method remains the same.

Break the enemy and impose your will on them. The left understands this historical imperiative and the right blathers on about Constitutionsl rights as if that actusally mattered.

It doesn’t.

sharrukin on November 22, 2012 at 5:27 AM

I wish the world could be something it isdn’t but when we become adults we are suposed to put away the things of chil;dhood but we on the right wrap ourselves in the tattered shrouds ofthe constitution. Proud and sad folk that we are. believers in a forgotten yesterday.

The choice we are faced with is fascism or communism. We want the figments of a past that has vanished in a stew of leftist hate. The constitution is a dead letter. A ghost of days past. We are the scrooge that the left claims we are and we hanker for the ghodt of Christmas past. But that Christmas is gone and all the wishing in the world will not bring it back to life.

Are we ghosts? Do we really have any claim on the future? The ancients believed...In vino veritas .

In wine there is truth.

I am somewhat soussed and therfore what I am telling you is the truth. I just threw up on my floor, so you know I am an honest man!!!

Why do we assume that we are clever? They were as smart as we are and yet we assume that we know things they were denied the knowledge of. What hubris?

They were closer to the essential nature of who men are and we ignore that at out peril

They had less than we did. They were poorer in material goods and in that they were closer to the essemnce of human nature. The third world understands that better than we do because they also are closer to what human beings really are.

We are closer to what human beings SHOULD BE, and that is our doom. We strive for the best in men and in that striving we miss what is essential to the life of man. Hearts of gold and feet of clay, and socialism calls to the worst of human nature.

They will win because in a reduced and lowest common denominatr society they will triumph with their mesaage of looking out for number one.

Not doggin on turkeys, but they put the ug in ugly, as birds go (and we have some “beee-utiful” tropic-azz birds hyar in Texas.

But I’ve got to say that Cobbler (this year’s cover-turkey-that-doesn’t-matter-since-turkeys-only-live-two-years-anyway) is arguably the most magnificent, death-row-pardon-worthy, GQ cover-ready handsome drumstick-plump fowl I’ve wished to run free range till his natural death five months from now EVAH!!

Happy Turkey Day, yall!

;)

“Liberal institutions cease to be liberal as soon as they are attained: later on, there are no worse and no more thorough injurers of freedom than liberal institutions. One knows, indeed, what their ways bring: they undermine the will to power; they level mountain and valley, and call that morality; they make men small, cowardly, and hedonistic — every time it is the herd animal that triumphs with them. Liberalism: in other words, herd-animalization …”

-Nietzsche

a pardon for the turkey- no pardon for us, those who still believe in the Rule of Law and the Constitution. but still i am thankful that at least half the country still appears to be composed of free Americans- as the Founders intended.

Well, now we know what it takes to get you to open up! I hope you are feeling better once you’ve had some sleep. I DO believe in God, and that, while a comfort for later, doesn’t make me think we aren’t going to have problems to deal with here. Big ones. I don’t think most people in this country are as far gone as you think they are. I don’t think our opposition is intelligent enough to actually follow through on a lot of their plans. They are a bunch of clowns. Evil is mostly petty and small. Yes, they got Obamacare through, but they don’t have the freaking infrastructure to implement it. Yes, they are regulating us into the ground, but we are smart enough to find a way around whatever they do. Even though we have had a huge setback, I still have hope. I have always enjoyed your posts, they are honest and well thought out. I just want to say to you that it is not time to give up. Have a great Thanksgiving!

kingsjester on November 22, 2012 at 7:33 AM

That was a great post and I am so happy things turned out the way they did for you! This is one of my favorite holidays because it has not been destroyed with too many decorations, cards, gifts, etc. Anyone who values shopping over spending time with family today needs to re-think their priorities.

Night Owl on November 22, 2012 at 9:51 AM

Thank you for that, Night Owl. I have been feeling like sharrukin every day but today is not the day for it.

shaloma on November 22, 2012 at 9:37 AM

You are very welcome. I wish INC was here this morning, she has posted stories from our past that made me cry, showing the courage and perseverance that we as a people are known for from our beginning as a country. I refuse to believe that a petty little tinpot dictator will win in the end, no matter how bad things might look right now. I hope you have a great day with family today, and then tomorrow we can get back to doing what we can to put a wrench in the works!

sharrukin on November 22, 2012 at 6:18 AM

You are definitely one of the most overly dramatic members of the doom squad on here.

Do you go on like that in person? Seems like you like to hear yourself talk.

All that endless despairing is exhausting and not productive.

bluegill on November 22, 2012 at 10:28 AM

Well, now we know what it takes to get you to open up! I hope you are feeling better once you’ve had some sleep.

I am and thanks.

I hope you are right regarding your optimism.

Thank you for that, Night Owl. I have been feeling like sharrukin every day but today is not the day for it.

shaloma on November 22, 2012 at 9:37 AM

One should only post while sober. And today isn’t the day for it.

My apologies.
