I have always enjoyed reading your posts, but of late, they’ve become much blacker. Lyrical and on target, but very dark. Dude, I know we’re scroomed, but I hope you can find a bit of joy here and there.

Petraeus is still under investigation for possibly passing on classified information. At least that’s the threat.

WaPo reported that Petraeus did NOT want to quit. Did NOT want the affair out in the open. Was told by the FBI no criminality, no charges, we’re not asking you to quit and as far as we know, the administration won’t either.

Surprise. When did the info about the affair become public? We were told that Obama tried to convince him not to quit (Hah). But Petraeus resigned ‘because of an affair’ and the whole thing went public.

Who here thinks Obama said ‘resign or you’re fired’ and then released the info about an affair simultaneously with info that Petraeus resigned?

So the info is out, therefore Petraeus would feel free to spill some beans by testifying. Well, hold that thought. Since Petraeus could face criminal charges for something even trumped up in the current investigation, who thinks Petraeus feels free to ‘tell the truth?’

If he testifies before more digging, he could conceivably actually ‘exonerate’ Obama for his lies in the weeks following Benghazi.

I’d like to see a better definition of his “lavish” travels. If I go on a business trip for a week in California (from Colorado), the total cost of my trip can up to $2000 (airline, rental car, hotel, per diem, parking, mileage, etc) – maybe higher if it’s a short notice trip. Foreign travel is MUCH more expensive.
This guy was the COCOM, so most of his travel was overseas, and he likely got much better accomodations than a peon contractor like me….
So was his travel really that “lavish”? $82,000 for how many trips over how long a period of time?

This is why EVERYONE with a DoD Top Secret clearance is supposed to live a “clean” life, report anything you do wrong, report any interactions with people asking “too many” questions, and why nearly all intelligence and counter-intel type positions, and many others, require lifestyle (and/or other similar) polygraphs – and why adultery is still a court-martial offense in the military.
You make yourself susceptible to espionage and blackmail by doing things like this. He should have known better given his position. People with too much dirt in their background should not have the security clearances required for these positions.

Either it comes out now…or as I suspect, in the next 9/11 type commission, history will not look kindly on this administration.

The former head of U.S. Africa Command who was accused of spending thousands of dollars on lavish travel and other unauthorized expenses has been demoted, a senior U.S. official said Tuesday.

The official said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta stripped Gen. William “Kip” Ward of a star, which means that he will now retire as a three-star lieutenant general despite some arguments against the demotion.

Ward will also repay the government $82,000.

As to Petraeus, I never trusted him anyway. First and foremost, he’s a “political” general not a “warrior” general, always has been. Second, now knowing that he travels with an entourage rivaling that of a head of state, that tells me he’s something of a “showboat” general as well.

I doubt we’ll ever be told the entire truth. Most accurate information will be hidden behind closed door hearings and the summary reports massaged to conceal the truth.

I’m also looking forward to some of the Brit media realizing that there’s a load of money to be made in informing Americans about stuff that our “(White-)House-trained” lapdog media won’t. Just imagine a British tabloid that decided to specialize in “afflicting the comfortable” US media! Oh, yummy!

Dozens of Americans were left to die in Benghazi. The fact that only four did was due to the incredible bravery (and willingness to disobey orders) of ex-SEALS Doherty and Woods.

BTW, the idea that the SEALS disobeyed orders is no longer clear.

This is so. That didn’t set well with the WH. If the stars are lined up just right, that speech Broadwell gave in Denver referencing Libyan prisoners being held for interrogation in Benghazi, might be more than just a wannabe power groupie blabbing.

Too bad no one is bothering to point out that all that has been going on in Libya is by the al Qaeda playbook. Of course al Qaeda is able to spread destabilization to places like Mali… right where Sec. State Clinton wants the US to be involved in next… why, its almost like a plan or something is going on…

Yes, BUT, Nixon did not have every single elected democrat in the U.S. and the main-stream media covering his tracks for him.

Ambitious former General discovers coverup implicating highest level of Executive Branch regarding Benghazi. General resigns as sex scandal comes to light. Obama ponders accepting it for a day as if to appear his advisors are not behind plot. Scandal widens, implicating others. Disgraced General cannot handle pain and humiliation caused by his actions towards all involved…WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT…coverup stays covered and he is remembered and memorialized in hero terms as people remember him.
