It will blamed on Republicans anyway, no matter what happens. Boner agreed to the conditions that set up the cliff so simply say he will live by the agreement that was already made. Then let the loony left rave all they like.

Boehner needs to have his non functioning cajones kicked back to Ohio and we need to elect a speaker of the house that actually cares about this country and not about staying in power. He is the biggest embarrassment to the GOP since Bob Dole and John McCain. Why does the GOP continue to tolerate these losers in leadership roles. Are there no other “Men” in the house? If not, get some women to do the job!

Some are saying the best course is to vote present, and let the Dims take full credit for everything. Personally, the only thing I’ve decided to do is not spend anything for the next six months. If all of us that voted Republican took that course we would be that much closer to a reality based system again.

Republicans really need to be smart about this; strategizing with an eye toward mid-terms is the smartest way to go here.

Sen. Mitch McConnell–who has even fewer people to lead in the Senate these days–seems to be in denial about that fact, and to think that he has some sort of leverage. He says there will be NO TAX INCREASES.

He’s mistaken. And, I’m sorry to say, he looks mighty impotent issuing such declaratives, when in fact, he doesn’t have a damn thing to say about it.

Obama WANTS to go over the fiscal cliff. It is the best thing that could happen to him. So, THINK VERY CAREFULLY about what the GOP needs to do here.

Digging in your heels, ala McConnell and Grover, is a big mistake, in my view. The GOP should publicly acknowledge, as Boehner has done on ObamaCare, that they have little power to prevail; do the best they can to negotiate but in the end, recognize, and publicly acknowledge that the tax increase on the rich is Obama’s policy, and the GOP opposes it for this reason, that reason etc., but that in the end, “elections have consequences” and Obama won the election so he gets to raise taxes on the rich.

Then step aside and let him do it; let the people who chose Obama experience the consequences of their choice. We’re going into a recession; the GOP should let the public tie Obama’s tax increase to the recession.

If the GOP continues to dig in their heels and fight, they’ll rightly be blamed when we go over the fiscal cliff.

Common sense would tell one that even with a majority of congress, anything passed would not get by the senate, let alone be signed by the zero. Unless it was “progressive”, and bias be damned.

There are cards to be played – Say, if the president wants to hike taxes on the rich, okay – But you have to give up your IPAB death panel, etc. Even if we don’t prevail, you still must fight the good fight, as for all you know, you just might prevail in the end. You’re certainly not going to if you surrender.

All the Republicans have to do is to make sure the Democrats OWN the next four years. Republicans just need to come out looking like the good guys.

I don’t get you way of thinking. When you didn’t vote for Romney you knew that he would likely lose and ObamaCare would be the law of the land. You want America to crash. It was your decision. You got what you wanted. Why are you complaining about the GOP now?

I can’t imagine that you didn’t understand that Romney’s defeat means that ObamaCare will be implemented.

Battles are lost when one side leaves, quits and walks off the field.
So… what do you think would happen if we didn’t quit? What do you think would’ve happened if Bohner had something like “ObamaCare may one day be the law of the land.. but I will still continue to fight for American freedom! I reject this law! It was shoved down our throats by the Democrat party and I reject it! We will fight it every way possible!”

What if he had said something like that? What if he would have talked about what some states ore doing? What if he had talked about a future President giving waivers to all 50 states? What if he had talked like he didn’t give a rats rear end what the Supreme Court said or that Obama won! What if he had talked like there is always a possibility to end any bad law. Always a way to fix mistakes and it will ultimately be up to the American people and those willing to fight for what is right.” What if he had spoken words like that? Playing golf with the President in those ridiculous white shorts of his and then raising the debt ceiling and bringing us to this fiscal cliff in the first place! This whole thing.. sequestration.. came from the House Republicans! If it didn’t come from them they gave in to the Democrats who demanded it!

Bohner is old, tired and worthless. He’s warming his chair! He is not a leader! He is a joke and he and those like him are the reason we are losing! He doesn’t have the fire if he ever did!

What a freaking shame! Such a great nation! So many have sacrificed so much and for what? Marines sacrificed their lives to save a few people from barbarians in Libya and we’ve got Republicans who won’t risk being called extremist to save the nation from barbarians at home! Marines faced guns and machetes and God knows what else to save just a few! What do we face? Being called names!
