Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:01 am on November 6, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Hurricane Sandy has devastated the most populous city in the nation. FEMA has struggled to deliver supplies and relief. Another nor’easter will bear down on the same area starting tomorrow. Where will the President be when it hits? On a basketball court in Chicago:

The president will observe his most time-honored Election Day ritual.

Former White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, who has joined the campaign on its final day to travel with President Obama, said his former boss sent an e-mail to his former personal aide, Reggie Love, to start organizing his regular pickup basketball game in Chicago for Tuesday.

Take it away, Katie Pavlich:

It might be a better idea for Obama to handle the ongoing Hurricane Sandy crisis instead. After all, thousands of freezing Americans with no electricity, water or heat, isn’t exactly “optimal.”

But … wasn’t that photo-op last week?

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

By contrast, Mitt Romney is holding two rallies and it was just announced that he’s calling in to local talk radio here in DC! In short, Romney wants this. The rat-eared wonder- not so much.

Turnout already huge in Arlington County.

bucsox79 on November 6, 2012 at 8:10 AM

Happened before. In 2004, the local Fox news station had a clip of a thug standing in the doorway of such a polling place. When Fox asked him why the GOP pollwatchers weren’t allowed in, the thug says, “Everyone votes Democrat Party here.” When asked how he knew that, thug said, “Because I tell them to.”

This time I expect the GOP pollwatchers will get an order allwoing them back in, but not until a lot of “votes” have been recorded on the machines.

Mitt Romney gives the sense that he can work through the problems facing this nation. Obama has been petty, vindictive, and negative.

This is one reason the GOP first went after the intermittent voters in the early voting states. Get the ones who might not vote to the polls. Then rely on the faithful to crawl over broken glass on election day.

The Dems did it the other way. Got their faithful to vote early. Now they have to get the intermittents to vote (or Dems will no doubt fraudulently vote in the intermittents’ place).

Wethal on November 6, 2012 at 8:53 AM

Black Panthers at Philly sites is the voting equivalent of burning down their own neighborhoods. Who the f##k cares? They go deep blue anyway. If they show up in Cheltenham or Willow Grove, then you got a problem. But that’ll never happen because they’re gutless. Real tough guys in their own neighborhood. Like anybody in those inner city neighborhoods is voting Repub. I’d like to see them try that sh!t in South Philly (if it’s how I remember it) or the Northeast.

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/11/05/does-obamas-fema-deserve-applause-giuliania-hurricane-sandy/

But if the plight of the people of New Orleans was all the fault of George W. Bush — even though most of the problems there were more the result of the complete collapse of state and local authority and the abandonment of their posts by first responders, then it is not inappropriate to ask why Obama gets a pass as residents of New York and New Jersey cope with a crisis that is far from under control.

No president deserves to be blamed for bad weather. But the ability of Obama to avoid responsibility for what remains a terrible mess can be directly attributed to his cheerleaders in the news media.

The panhandle of Florida is in Central time zone.

Yes, and the Gore compaign leaned on the networks to call FL before the panhandle polls closed. In 2004, the media did promise not to call a state until all polls in all time zones in a state closed.

Just talked to my sister who is attending Fresno State (at 57 years old) and has been told by a lot of the students that they are not voting this time around. That puts a smile on my face knowing the mind numbed O-bots are staying away from the polls this year- hope this is a nationwide trend.

Drove my dogs around the block about 7AM to check out the lines.
Took the dogs home and went to vote.
No long lines but 65 people voted before me and line was forming as I left. Everyone very friendly in this small town in eastern NC.
Filled out some kind of exit survey and I blasted Obama.

Made me feel good to vote.
I’ve been waiting four years for this.

Thank-you to Hot Air bunch—you kept me sane.
