<blockquote>Is anyone going to miss Lori? ... If not, then we have a problem.</blockquote>

If the show is as two-dimensional as you suggest then it is clear that we are not necessarily expected to miss Lori. If they wanted us to like her they wouldn't have made her such a poor excuse for a mother. She almost entirely ignores her boy except to scold him. Lori goes beyond trying to just ignore the apocalypse to manipulatively setting best friends against each other to make herself the center of attention and live in a fabricated drama rather than reality.

The most despicable about Lori, IMO, is that she absolutely did not care whether it was Rick or Shawn that was killed/murdered by their best friend, so long it happened. In fact, she seemed to express scornful disappointment that Rick survived and Shawn died. I'm not sure if the scorn was because Rick didn't take initiative and murder Shawn, a suggestion that Lori was constantly whispering in his ear, or if it was because she was more attracted to Shawn and Rick was the wrench in the works.

Personally, I'm pleased that she's joined Dale in the place where annoying characters go when they die. I hope Andrea is next. Nobody else particularly annoys me besides The Governor but I'm sure Rick will take care of that later in the season.

<blockquote>The kids, both of them, said no way any normal kid would act like that. They would be GLUED to the group for safety.</blockquote> I agree. I haven't been a kid in years, but if a zombie apocalypse happened, you had better believe I would not have left the side of any adult with a shot gun, revolver, katana, or cross bow.

To the guy who asked if the whole group knows Rick killed Shane, the answer is yes.

At the end of season two, around the camp fire, Rick blurts out to the entire group (most of whom have been harassing him, saying he's a poor leader), "I killed my best friend (Shane) for you people! You saw how he was, dogging me at every step."

So the whole group knew about that, not just Lori.

I didn't really like the Shane character, as a person. He was interesting as character for a tv show, but unlikable as a person, since he was a violent psycho who was willing to kill his best friend (Rick).

I do question Rick a little more now. At this point he is still one of my favorite characters, but I'm disappointed to see him turn more ruthless and violent. The only positive I see from that is that he might have to be very ruthless to go up against the violent, remorseless governor.

Rick has turned a little more vicious as the show has gone on, shooting those two guys in the bar dead, locking that Andrew guy out in the prison courtyard with the zombies (which he knew might be a death sentence), and he was going to shoot Randall (teen age kid) in the head in the barn in season 2.<blockquote>Now, what didn’t make sense was Lori automatically dying from a C-section. Seriously? Did they not have those before modern medicine? Was there no reason to believe she could make it?

Esthier on November 6, 2012 at 11:13 AM</blockquote> someone above explained it much better than I could. Lori had other medical conditions going on, and had bled out a lot before the c section.

For all the people complaining about a black character (Tdog) getting killed off. A lot of white people have been killed off on the show, too.

But there have been black actors on the show since about the beginning. One of the first people Rick Grimes meets in the apocalypse is a black guy (who has a son) who rescues him and takes him into his home.

Michonne was just introduced at the very end of season 2, and she is a black lady and is meant to be a major character (she was in the comics, is my understanding).

Andrew and Oscar are black guys, and they were in the last episode.

There was a black lady who opted to kill herself with the white doctor in the Atlanta CDC. She was in a few episodes before that episode.

So it's not like Walking Dead is all-white. They do have some black people, and there's been some Asian people, including Glenn, and the one Asian guy who works for the Governor.

Then there's

or,

2. "There are more important things to discuss like an election why a TV show thread"

As for #2, there have been billions of threads on Hot Air about Romney and Obama for weeks now, and in the last few days. One or two pop culture or silly threads don't hurt anything.

Thank you to AP for making a Walking Dead thread!

We finally got a Walking Dead thread?? I didn't find out until now.

AP said, <blockquote>"Didn’t they spend 10 months together holed up in the cafeteria while zombies overran the prison? That must have built a certain esprit de corps. And yet, given the chance to (a) shoot Rick in the face or (b) take Rick prisoner and establish himself as the new leader, Oscar opts for (c) shooting his friend, the little guy, for no apparent reason and then handing the gun back to Rick"</blockquote> Those two prisoner guys were out-numbered (Rick has more people in his group - some were not in the room at that moment, but had the two prisoners walked out they would have had to deal with Glenn, Maggie, Carl with a gun, Carol, T Dog - unless all those people were under attack at that moment, I don't remember).

In addition, if you re watch the scene, you will see Daryl Dixon off to the side, in the background holding weapons ready to charge Oscar.

As for Lori. She was an annoying character at times, but unlike 95% of other Walking Dead fans, I did not want to see her die. So I was moved by her death. I thought it was sad.

Since it was so obvious to all of us, I'm thinking we just got trolled by AP.

</blockquote>Agreed. I'm trying suspend disbelief here.

</blockquote>Yeah, I read the interview AP linked.
The actress was going on about how Lori complemented rick by giving him a conscience and now he will have to find that within himself.
I think the whole point is that he won't.

Per AP, we will get to see "how a good man might behave when civil society collapses around him."

The other convict was not one of the "good men" talked about by the remaining convicts.
Also, he freed the zombies as an act of revenge.

He had no compunctions about letting Oscar or the "pharmaceuticals" guy get eaten by zombies.

Clearly, Rick and his party have some experience with zombies and survival, so the logical choice is to side with them.

Which brings up another question...how did the other convict all of a sudden become an expert in zombie herding?
Oh, well. Not everything in the show makes sense.

Remember the crucifix in the southern baptist church?
Or the open field and moonlit night during which Dale was assaulted unawares.

Axel (the white convict) already explained that Tomas and Andrew (the small convict who Oscar shoots) used to torment the other convicts in the cell block, and that he and Oscar had no loyalty to them, when he's trying to convince Rick to let them join the group. That why Oscar shot Andrew.

On a side note. There seems to be a pattern developing. Anytime one of the main characters has a "come on, we are better than that" moment, within 30 minutes they are being chomped down on by zombies.

First there was Dale when he lectured the group about killing the young guy being held in the barn. Now T-dog after complaining about the group rejecting the two convicts, and potentially condemning them to death outside of the prison.

<blockquote>First, why did Oscar, the big convict, shoot the little convict instead of shooting Rick?</blockquote>

This one actually seemed really obvious to me. The two convicts were already trying to join Rick's group because they'd already realized that they couldn't do it on their own. Then suddenly, little guy puts them all in massive danger by bringing a ton of zombies into the area, and Oscar has a choice. Go with little guy and the last 10 months of loyalty, or kill him and Rick will probably let you into his group.

I mean, sure, the three convicts could try to take over the prison with Rick dead, but he wasn't the only one with a gun, so there's no reason to believe they would have won. To me, this was a pure survival move.

Now, what didn't make sense was Lori automatically dying from a C-section. Seriously? Did they not have those before modern medicine? Was there no reason to believe she could make it?

a) nobody is stating the obvious, which is that next week, there will be two or three familiar zombies coming out of the woodwork.

b) question - do you guys really remember all the names? I just figure who is talking about who based on the context. The only name I remember is Shane, who's dead.

c)I give last week a grade of "C" because although I enjoy the zombies, too much is too much. Last week was 40 minutes of blood bath (which sets the stage for point (a) )

d) does anyone know what the hell the "governor" is up to? Seems some kind of scientific experimentation whereby people are being murdered and their heads preserved - so that the dead don't come back as zombies.
