Hot Air Survey: Your Election Predictions Results

posted at 9:29 pm on November 5, 2012 by Patrick Ishmael

Over 7000 votes later, who do Hot Air readers think will win the Presidency in 2012? Drum roll please…

Okay, so that wasn’t so surprising. But I found this reader-chosen hierarchy of likely Romney states a little surprising:

Florida leads with 99%; Oregon rounds things out at 8%. For those wondering, the percentage for Pennsylvania, an (accidental) late addition, is calculated against the number of voters (thousands) who had it available as an option.

When will this thing be called? Hot Air readers seem to think that we may be in for a late night…

Will the GOP have a majority in the Senate? Readers were torn.

But readers weren’t torn in thinking that the GOP will gain seats in the House.

And the rest:

Thanks to everyone who participated! Questions? You can reach me on Twitter at @theish.

Oh, man. How’d I miss the poll!

Ah, well. It mostly came out the way I would have voted, anyway. Heck, you could get my call of the states by marking Pennsylvania as a toss-up and giving Romney everything above it in the histogram.

I’d be another vote for 49 senate seat, sadly. It looks to me like the patently unfair attack on Mourdock worked — not because it convinced people he’d said what they claimed, but because it made everyone think about his stance on abortion (banned even in case of rape) for a whole week. (It’s not so much that abortion is a loser as it is that any time the voters aren’t thinking about the economy is a loser.) I would love to be wrong about this — both the number of seats and Mourdock specifically.

The president did contemplate the possibility of defeat, but said he and his family “would be fine no matter what the outcome,” Ms. Cathey said. Mario Orosa, 44, a technical specialist at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, said he had asked Mr. Obama, “What was the last thing that made you really nervous?” The president replied, “I don’t remember.”

He is not a nervous man. But even his famous cool may be challenged on Tuesday night. For the “prop,” it is all over but the waiting, while Mr. Plouffe makes some calls and bothers some more folks.

May it be so, in bold!

Easy one. But my favorite.

What I don’t understand is if these trolls are sooo confident that they are going to win and we are all idiot losers….why are they so mad????

BeachBum on November 5, 2012 at 9:47 PM

They’re not confident. That’s why they’re trolling this site. All the libs have is Nate Silver. “In Nate We Trust” they say (literally, they say this!) Obama has no record, no accomplishments a terrible economy and he’s despised by at least half the electorate. They’re trying to sell Obama on this “inevitability” canard. It won’t work, but it’s all the poor dears have.

Notice the trolls don’t actually talk about what Obama is good for. He’s a terrible president, they know it. And he’s getting voted out tomorrow.

Yeah. I’m not sure what to think, other than that it’ll be very close either way, but Ras’s party ID numbers are intriguing. He pretty much nailed turnout in ’08, so either he’s very wrong this time or most of these other polls showing a lot more Dems are. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Yeah there’s some solid scientific logic. Because if you are going to go to the effort to vote you’d obviously happily first deface your hooptie with a classless sticker, wouldn’t you?

Protip: most voters, on any side, do not have bumper stickers. Stickers are for obnoxious dbags who feel the need to share their crappy views with strangers in traffic. And yes, this goes equally for bammy lovers.

The Benghazi Story: Mass Grave of Reputations

Maybe the anonymous “senior U.S. intelligence officials” who gave out a “detailed timeline” about the Benghazi fiasco on Thursday never heard of Healy’s Law: “If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.”

That is because the hole in which they found themselves will surely end up a mass grave for their reputations and for many others’ — beginning with General David Petraeus.

Petraeus’ sterling reputation was beginning to become forever tarnished by the failure of his COIN strategy, but that’s a tale for another post, because the “detailed timeline” that was briefed or e-mailed to the media is coming under severe attack on The Hill and elsewhere — particularly by Fox.

The “detailed timeline” contains glaring conflicts with earlier background briefings, leaks, and independent reporting, but, most importantly, it contains conflicts with what Petraeus himself told Congress when he, just three days after the attack, was calling it, as described by the inimitable Mark Steyn, a “movie review that just got a little out of hand.”

“My job here is not done. I need four more years. There are Americans that still have jobs.”
-Barack H. Obama.
I HOPE that unemployment rate ticks up to 8% tomorrow night and we get a CHANGE in the White House.

Trolling 101 — How to spot a troll.

Part 1 — The obvious unskilled unimaginative amateur attention seeking troll. About 90% of trolls fall into this category.

A. Generic attention seeking post

Someone pay attention to me! I’m issuing broad brushed insults to you [morons | racists | uneducated knuckle dragging, mouth breathing ignorant stupid rednecks]! That almost always gets some bites even in an Echo Chamber like this, you dumbazzes! Pay attention to me morons! Without me this place is an Echo Chamber of [idiocy | ignorance | stupidity]! Pay attention to me! Reply to my brilliant, clever, and insightful posts! It’s all about Me! Me! Me!

Obama: “me, me, me”

Romney: “patriotism, duty, country”

Oh, and I’m also from Lincoln, NE. Guess we watched too many disappointments in Big 8, then Big 12, and, throughout, national championships. No celebrations until the final whistle sounds.

“I’m a veg, Danny.” I use it regularly (after a work jag), and no one knows what the hell I’m talking about. :)
