Surprise: NYC Mayor Bloomberg endorses Obama, citing…

posted at 5:21 pm on November 1, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

President Obama received a late endorsement from now self-proclaimed Independent and current New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg this afternoon, which normally mightn’t be much of an issue (it’s not like New York’s electoral votes are exactly up for grabs or anything) — except that Bloomberg led his argument by extolling the ostensible virtues of Obama’s climate-change policies in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The devastation that Hurricane Sandy brought to New York City and much of the Northeast — in lost lives, lost homes and lost business — brought the stakes of Tuesday’s presidential election into sharp relief. …

Our climate is changing. And while the increase in extreme weather we have experienced in New York City and around the world may or may not be the result of it, the risk that it might be — given this week’s devastation — should compel all elected leaders to take immediate action.

We need leadership from the White House — and over the past four years, President Barack Obama has taken major steps to reduce our carbon consumption, including setting higher fuel-efficiency standards for cars and trucks. His administration also has adopted tighter controls on mercury emissions, which will help to close the dirtiest coal power plants (an effort I have supported through my philanthropy), which are estimated to kill 13,000 Americans a year.

Again, it’s always difficult to say whether these types of endorsements have a calculable effect, and this one would only heighten Obama’s lead in New York — but what about in neighboring states like, oh, say… Pennsylvania?

The Obama campaign has generally avoided the topic of climate change for some very good political reasons. Obama was much more vocal about championing climate change earlier in his presidency, but the issue tends to bring out some of the divisions between well-monied Democratic sub-factions, i.e., hardcore greenies who don’t think the president has done nearly enough to combat global warming versus unions who are less-than-pleased about the incoming inability to build a coal plant without being bankrupted. Team O has scrupulously skirted around the Obama administration’s war on coal, preferring to tout his green-energy ventures and fuel efficiency standards as the routes to a brave renewable world.

Team Obama put out a statement that the president is “honored” to have Bloomberg’s support, but Mayor Bloomberg is known for being staunchly anti-coal. If the climate-heavy endorsement ends up bringing any extra attention to President Obama’s own coal-crushing and climate-change policies, I’m not sure it will be a welcome development for them — the situation in Pennsylvania is far too fragile to invite any ire from coal country.

The electoral situation in Pennsylvania is, by the way, fragile, and looks like Mitt Romney will be heading there for campaigning this weekend.

Just remember, there are two main reasons why global warming is bull. First, there is nothing unusual about current temperatures. The hockey stick was debunked, and that means there is nothing wrong with the climate. And the storms… are only natural! Second, the ipcc maintained as the centerpiece of their theory that there is a causal correlation between CO2 and climate temperatures. This foundation of the theory has been debunked, fully, there is no evidence of a causal correlation. CO2 increases and decreases as a result of temperature change, CO2 is NOT a cause of temperature change. See Al Gore called out for repeating the key ipcc deception on CO2 in this must see & must share 3 minute video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK_WyvfcJyg&info=GGWarmingSwindle_CO2Lag

The greatest problem facing Obama, however, is not just his mediocre record of governance, but the growing public perception that he is as uncool in 2012 as he was cool in 2008. Voters no longer feel they’re square for voting against Obama. Instead, it’s becoming the “in” thing to shrug that enough is enough.

A common theme of classic American tales such as The Rainmaker, Elmer Gantry, The Music Man, and The Wizard of Oz is popular anger unleashed at Pied Piper–like messiahs who once hypnotized the masses with promises of grandeur.

The bamboozled people rarely fault their own gullibility for their swooning over hope-and-change banalities, but rather, once sober, turn with fury on the itinerant messiahs who made them look so foolish. In other words, it is not just the economy, foreign policy, poor debating skills, or a so-so campaign that now plagues Obama, but the growing public perception that voters were had in 2008 and that it now is okay — even cool — to no longer believe in him.

Send this to all you know, and ask them to send it on.

1) Global Warming
2) Islamic relations so as to reduce terrorism against the U.S.

In the past month, we received the largest hurricane in years, and a deadly terrorist attack on our U.S. embassy in Libya.

I’m perplexed. Maybe he just needs 4 more years to fix it all?

This is just what one should expect from a scumbag like Bloomberg. Sandy has NOTHING to do with “Man-made Global Warming”. The storm of 1962 did a hell of a lot more damage then Sandy, but because there were less people on the shore at that time no one thinks it was a greater disaster. Was this storm due to “Man-made” Global warming?

The Hurricane of 1938 just missed New York City, but almost completely covered Long Island. It then sent a storm surge, just like Sandy, only greater up the river and wiped out Providence, Rhode Island with an 18 foot wave. Was this due to “Man-made” Global warming?

Bloomberg, the man who can’t make up his mind what party he wants to be a member of is nothing but a little twerp who should be bitch-slapped down.

Libs are not going to let go of climate change anytime soon. Perhaps never. It beats all other big government schemes, including socialized medicine. It is the mother of them all.

Nothing compares to it. Nothing. It is the biggest and best fraud of them all. It beats every other fraud ever conceived by man. Why? Because it covers everything!
Everything! And it is both simple to understand and easily, to the weak minded, easily inspires fear. It’s the ultimate justification for action by government. Any action. To seize, to kill to steal to imprison to tax to regulate to kill! The earth is being destroyed and you are to blame. Your job. Your house. Your car. Your food. How you cook your food. How you heat your house. Even the breath you exhale is killing the planet and what compares to the value of the planet? Your religion? Your property? Your individual rights? Your freedom? You don’t have the freedom to destroy the earth.

Climate change or whatever they call it next, can be the most insidious justification for the most diabolical and sickening evils ever conceived by man to man! For any evil committed can be justified as necessary if it is sold as saving the earth.
And look at how you are treated if you disagree with the so called science. you are a skeptic! A “denier” A fool!

People can laugh now all they want to. But unless this fraud is taken more seriously and confronted publicly more forcefully.. exposed for what it really is.. the time will come at some point in the future when the morons will outnumber us all. They will be ready to sell themselves to who ever can save them. They will give up everything and even each other if they are convinced the earth is about to die and only a strong powerful government can save them.

It will happen.

As someone who lives and works in New York, I can safely say that Bloomturd’s endorsement will NOT heighten Obama’s lead here. At BEST, it’s neutral, but the insufferable mini-tyrant has so worn out his welcome that this will likely erode Obama’s support. The only reason he managed to hang on for an illegal third term is because no one else really wanted the job. He spent a fortune to defeat some penniless Brooklyn communist and still almost lost. He may be a hero to the Beltway Pundit class (Kathleen Parker, ahem), but he’s a stupid joke here.

Forward!

Nanny and the Death Panels and “Complete Lives System” are waiting for you America.

Just wait and see what America looks like after the HHS Secretary “shall determine” goes into effect. Anyone over 45? You’re just a drag on the economy. Wait until everyone gets a $100,000 lifetime benefit. You want to see redistribution and complete takeover of wealth by the Federal Government? What will happen when you’re 53 and you find out you need open heart surgery (and the cost is $275,000)? And you only have $70,000 left on your benefit.

Will you sell your house that you’ve worked your entire life to have paid off? Will the government agree to buy (conveniently) your house at market value? Say you sell your house to the government for $250,000, and you have the surgery. You now have nothing left for retirement and you’re a renter (unless they decide to sell the house out from under you). You have no private insurance option of course (that was made illegal years earlier).

What will you do when you get home and find out your medicine is going to cost $1000 a month and you’re now renting, you’ve used all your life benefit and you’re down to few assets to keep you in your old age……at 53????

ALL HAIL OBAMA……..America’s Death Panel.

Mayor Bloomberg,

I want to make sure I understand you correctly. You think climate change is a real danger to New York City and may be responsible for more volatile weather in the future including bigger and more frequent hurricanes. You also believe that the warming is somewhat due to human activity and changing our behavior can have a significant impact on climate change. Is that right?

OK, now that we have that established, it is only logical to say that you should have foreseen the need to prepare New York for such a storm. There should have been a plan to keep the tunnels from flooding, to keep the ocean’s storm surge in the ocean, to make sure structures were sound, power service was buried, water systems could be quickly brought back on line, and that the hospitals could be storm shelters with backup systems and the capacity to survive the strong storms you yourself said would happen.

Isn’t that right? If you believe that this was a natural result of human activity and not enough is being done, then you yourself have predicted that this storm would come. And, it did come. It fulfilled your prophecy.

So, why Mayor Bloomberg, why weren’t you and the City of New York ready?
