New Romney ad: Secretary of Business?

posted at 11:21 am on November 1, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Professional politicians don’t usually throw their opponents a bone this big in the final week of an election — which is why this qualified as an Obamateurism yesterday, of course.  Truly professional politicians don’t bury the bone, either, but chew on it, and Mitt Romney delivers today in an ad attacking Barack Obama for going to his first instincts to deal with his failing economic policies:

Barack Obama recently said he might appoint a Secretary of Business.

His solution to everything is to add another bureaucrat.

Mitt Romney understands business and knows what it will take to create jobs and get our economy moving again.

He’s done it before.

He’ll do it again.

One point the ad doesn’t mention, but is worth making: even when Obama adds bureaucracies, he ignores them.  He created his own blue-ribbon panel to deal with the deficit, Simpson-Bowles, only to completely ignore their recommendations in his two successive budgets (neither of which got a single vote of support in Congress in three floor votes).  Obama formed a “jobs council” of CEOs and economists directly to the point of his “Secretary of Business” response, and then went several months without meeting with it.

That flub gave Romney a chance to hammer home his closing message on jobs and the economy.  It’s a good punch; we’ll see if it scores a knockout.

I think the trolls showing up these last few days, displaying their obvious discomfiture at the pending loss, is quite generous of them.

Perhaps it’s in compensation for having tolerated their inane commentary for so long.

In any case, watching them wriggle in these final hours is wonderfully entertaining.

Under Obama (and maybe most Democrats), a Departmenr of Business would probably help business just like the ATF promotes alcohol, tobacco, and firearms.

I can’t believe, even having seen the depths to which the progressives are willing to sink these last four years, that these same progressives think that a devastating hurricane is going to help Obama in this campaign.

They seem totally oblivious to the pain, destruction, and death the storm unleashed on their fellow human beings. I even saw a post by one of them openly saying that each death would benefit Obama.

This is beyond disturbing. It’s beyond sad. It is sociopathic to lack any sense of empathy or conscience.

“I remember once we had a football field at my high school. The field was covered with rubbish and paper goods from people who’d had a big celebration there at the game. And there was a group of us there assigned to clean it up. And I thought, ‘how are we going to clean up all the mess on this football field?’ There were just a few of us. And the person responsible for organizing the effort said, ‘Just line up along the yard lines. You go between the goal line and the 10-yard line, and the next person between the 10 and 20, and just walk down and do your lane. And if everybody cleans their lanes, we’ll get it done.’ And so today, we’re cleaning one lane if you will.”

Any titles and article from Reuters and the AP are discounted for Obama sh*t (not Beluga caviar) consumption.

May they all suffocate from what they consume.

Schadenfreude on November 1, 2012 at 1:21 PM

His faiure to help in Benghazi is just the icing on the cake.

Cake ingredients:
Black teenage unemployment, gas prices, food prices, energy prices, bankrupting coal companies, and on and on and on…

Cake frosting:
Leaving 4 dead (and could have been even more) in Benghazi to be tortured by the Islamic terrorists.

Keep pounding on him on every forum you can think of. Follow Obama and his schedule. When he visits Green Bay go to Green Bay newspaper sites and comment there.

When he goes to Madison, log on and remind people there about his failures. Follow him and Biden the next few days. And branch out at will into Oregon, Illinois, Washington state, and any place else you think might be ripe for the pickings.

For example, how about posting gas prices have doubled since January 2009 at sites in New Jersey? Philadelphia? How about black teenage unemployment in cities around the country that have large black populations. Same with his failure on Hispanic issues…….flag those in border towns in New Mexico.

POUND RELENTLESSLY.

Aw, poor , poor HAL shows its sensitive side. Of course if your nuts hadn’t been taken at such a young age, you’d be able to hit those low baritone notes. Easy for you to use the F word online isn’t HAL. You would cower to say it to my face you pathetic little troll. But keep it up, we all remember how it ends for you HAL. You’ll sing, just when I walk you sorry little self to the door. Bring it HAL. Lol! In your face pathetic one. LOL!

It would be nice if the Romney ads had voice over guys who were a bit more assertive, less metrosexual and cut through the music track better.

Then again, this has probably been focus group tested and figures the targe t audience has no testoterone left….male or female.

Along with your other insults, is this how a leftist Canadian retired/er thrown out MP writes? Certainly you can do better. Your side ‘markets’ itself as the empathy and erudite party.

Perhaps you should go back up thread and take a closer look at those meandering posts full of nearly psychotic laughter and squeals.

- You’re so stupid/lazy that you ask for a link that is in the original post

- The football speech is stupid. You agreed it was stupid. But as soon as you learn that Romney said it, suddenly you backpedal, defend it, and cheerlead it with some amazing, straw grasping “context’ bullshit

Now get yourself back to unskewedpolls.com where they’re hilariously predicting a Romney landslide

DR, Obama makes stupid comments every day…not to mention Biden. You own them. They are yours.

What’s wrong with the powerful Sec. of Commerce position? Do you think Obama knows?

Why would he suggest such a stupid replacement if he’d know, or if he had any idea about business?

Schadenfreude on November 1, 2012 at 1:49 PM

What’s wrong with a sec-biz? MORE people in the government working on the problem isn’t a bad thing. It means more heads going together brainstorming solutions.

akaniku on November 1, 2012 at 11:30 AM

Evidently another troll who posts & runs.
I do thank you for the laugh, though.Thinking that people in government actually work is your first failing.
Your second, of course, is to assume that even more of them are actually going to accomplish something more than they do now, which is nothing but destruction.

As for Drywall, I see he still refuses to use the time he has b!tching at us when he should be using those efforts & time to improve his own country’s standing in the world so he doesn’t have to live in fear anymore if the US goes t!t$ up.
You’re a pathetic little girl Dave.
Stop pi$$ing in your shorts aboot the fate of the US & worry aboot the $hit happening in your own neck of the woods.
