With the FY 2007 budget, Bush and the Republican Congress did better than Bill Clinton did in either of his two budgets with a Democrat Congress.

He wants a “grand bargain” on debt and entitlement reform, for instance, even though neither were part of his 20-page picture book, er, second-term agenda that he just released last week.

On the topic of debt and deficits:

What Democrats (including Obama, Biden, Clinton, Pelosi, Reid, and others) “inherited” was the FY 2007 budget.

The FY 2007 budget was passed in 2006 and was the last budget passed by a Republican House, Republican Senate, and Republican President.

The FY 2007 budget produced a deficit under $161 Billion.

With the FY 2007 budget, Bush and the Republican Congress did better than Bill Clinton did in either of his two budgets with a Democrat Congress.

Clinton’s first two budgets, passed with a Democrat Congress, produced larger deficits than Bush and the Republicans did in FY 2007.

(It was not until voters gave Bill Clinton a Republican Congress that he got to sign budgets with surpluses.)

Many people mistakenly give Bill Clinton credit for the budget surpluses that were created by a Republican House and Republican Senate.

And many people mistakenly give George W. Bush the blame for the budget deficits that were created in FY 2008 and FY 2009 by a Democrat House and Democrat Senate. George Bush wasn’t even the President who signed the FY 2009 budget… that was Barack Obama, because the Pelosi House and Reid Senate held back the budget until Obama was sworn in and could sign it.

Democrats “inherited” the FY 2007 budget with a deficit less than $161 Billion, and Democrats tripled the deficit in FY 2008, tripled it AGAIN in FY 2009, and Democrats have not even passed a budget for FY 2010, 2011, 2012, or 2013, keeping the annual deficit well over $1,000 Billion ($1 Trillion) each and every year.

That is unsustainable. It’s time for CHANGE.
