Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on October 28, 2012 by Allahpundit

Just two Sunday mornings left before E-Day, which means it’s time for a battle of the battlegrounders. Democrats will make the pitch to Virgnia and Colorado with Mark Warner, John Hickenlooper, and Mark Udall. The GOP will counter with a push for Ohio and Wisconsin via Rob Portman, John Kasich, Ron Johnson, and of course Scott Walker. I’m a little surprised not to see Kelly Ayotte, Terry Branstad, or Chuck Grassley too; New Hampshire and Iowa are crucial to Romney’s Plan B if Ohio falls through. Maybe next week.

Andrew Sullivan will be on the ABC panel, in case you want to see what a Sullivan freakout looks like on TV instead of on the page. The line-up via WaPo:

NBC’s Meet the Press: Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO); Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI); Gov. John Kasich (R-OH); Carly Fiorina, Vice Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee; E.J. Dionne, Washington Post and Brookings Institution; David Brooks, New York Times; Rachel Maddow, MSNBC; Chuck Todd, NBC

CBS’ Face the Nation: Sen. John McCain (R-AZ); former governors Haley Barbour (R-MS); former governor Jennifer Granholm (D-MI); John Fund, National Review; Bob Shrum, Daily Beast; Mark Leibovich, New York Times; Ruth Marcus, Washington Post; John Dickerson, CBS and Slate

ABC’s This Week: Newt Gingrich; Stephanie Cutter, Obama campaign deputy manager; George Will, ABC; Gwen Ifill, ABC; Andrew Sullivan, Daily Beast; Austan Goolsbee, former Obama economic adviser; Nicolle Wallace, Republican strategist

Fox News Sunday: Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH); Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI); Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA); Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO); Brit Hume, Fox News; Juan Williams, Fox News; Karl Rove, Republican strategist; Joe Trippi, Democratic strategist

CNN’s State of the Union with Candy Crowley: David Axelrod, Obama Campaign Senior Adviser; Reince Priebus, RNC Chair; Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-VA); former governor Ted Strickland (D-OH); Bill McInturff, pollster; Anna Greenberg, pollster; Michael Duffy, Time

And if Libya is seen as a “voting issue” by the Romney campaign, why has he been avoiding the subject like a scalded cat since the second debate?

After seeing Sullivan turn his back to the camera and massage and squeeze his tush — never again.

chumpThreads on October 28, 2012 at 9:12 AM

That, and a whole lot of other topics. My only hope is that he thinks it more important to keep the economy on the front page until he’s elected, but my heart tells me there are other, less good, reasons.

Like…he really doesn’t know what he’s up against and really DOES think it’s all about the economy.

Cleombrotus on October 28, 2012 at 9:17 AM

Romney uttered the “first word” in the second debate. Remember?
He tried to nail the President on whether he called it a terrorist attack, and Obama crushed him

Mitt didn’t even try to challenge the President again in the third debate. His campaign has been silent on Libya, yet you lot are whining that it might not come up on Sunday talk programs.

Seriously, you rightists are such crybabies!

chumpThreads on October 28, 2012 at 9:05 AM

Flora Duh on October 28, 2012 at 9:46 AM

Obama made a political decision that got 4 Americans killed but Republicans better not “politicize” the Benghazi attack.

mike_NC9 on October 28, 2012 at 9:47 AM

BTW, the Romney campaign has chosen to avoid talking about Libya and Benghazi because the MSM has the stacked the deck stacked against him and laid a trap. Whenever he does they attack him and make it all about Romney. Obama does not have to say a word about it. The MSM would use it as an excuse to talk about something other than the economy and Romney would have to repeatedly and continuously defend himself. Economic issues would get lost in the MSM frenzy. This is what happened the two times he brought it up.

Plus, Romney has decided to stay on message about the economy during the end game and not get distracted or sidetracked.

Any undecideds/independents with a functioning brain who are interested should know where to go to get reports and commentary about Benghazi.

4. Afghanistan-you mean where he escalated the war and where little girls get shot in the head if the dare speak up.
5. The rape issue-what a canard.
6. Is he really for marriage equality? Heh he changed his stance and used you fools just a few months ago…oh and btw he says it is up to the states .
etc etc…..

he won’t force rape victims who become pregnant to bear the child of their attacker

chumpThreads on October 28, 2012 at 9:42 AM

Do you understand that a President cannot overturn a Supreme Court decision?

Do you understand that Congress cannot overturn a Supreme Court decision?

Do you understand that, even if the Court did overturn Roe (it won’t), abortion would not become illegal in the United States?

Do you understand that abortion was legal in many states, including California due to a bill signed into law by Reagan, before Roe?

Do you understand that Romney “won’t force rape victims who become pregnant to bear the child of their attacker”?

Resist We Much on October 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM

Seriously, I believe he’s done a good job as president. I believe he saved the economy from a severe depression; he kept the auto industry alive; he got us out Iraq; he’s going to get us out of Afghanistan; he’s been extremely effective in taking out terrorists; he won’t force rape victims who become pregnant to bear the child of their attacker; he’s for marriage equality, etc.

chumpThreads on October 28, 2012 at 9:42 AM

Yeah, it’s all about belief. Not evidence. BTW, Obama only says he is for marriage equality, he told MTV that he had no plans to do anything more on the subject. And also, Romney would not force rape victims to bear their attacker’s child either.

What else have you got?

If you can’t figure out why you should like him based on the above, that’s ok. It’s a free country. But that’s why I like him.

chumpThreads on October 28, 2012 at 9:42 AM

One of those things is not like the other.

You say you like him because he’s getting us out of Iraq and Afghanistan…why? Because you don’t like war and killing?

Then why do you like him for taking out terrorists?

Did you all see the interview with Woods’ family last night on Jeanine Pirro’s show? You guys should try to find clips of it on YouTube.

So you’re still pushing the lie that Romney and Ryan are against abortion in cases of rape?

*snip*

Flora Duh on October 28, 2012 at 9:58 AM

How do you know what Romney believes? He’s been on all sides of every issue!

Both Romney and Ryan have advocated legislation that would create personhood rights from the moment of conception, which would rule out abortion rights-no exception for rape or incest.

chumpThreads on October 28, 2012 at 10:05 AM

I just submitted the survey and viewed the results.
Romney 69%
Obama 31%

Chump I noticed you could care less that our President lied, distorted, deflected the truth about Benghazi. It is all about winning. People lost their lives due to his incompetence and dishonesty. Yet you just sit there talking about rape etc etc,

You are really gross.

I find it interesting that you support the drone wars…..somehow I suspect if it were Bush or Romney you would not be so on board. Funny too how the anti-war types have been so quiet in general but for a few. You’ve sold your soul…sadly you know it and you don’t care…as long as you win.

THe Left devotes a great deal of energy and time and internet trolling to manipulating reality: they can’t tolerate “social media” being what it is on it’s own, so they manipulate the appearance of social media. The psychology of the Left is blatantly disturbed as they seem to exist to disturb others, including the appearance of others’ opinions.
