Cutter: The DMR’s endorsement just not “based at all in reality”

posted at 5:01 pm on October 28, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

To recap: Last week, Iowa’s major state newspaper the Des Moines Register snagged an interview with President Obama to take into their consideration in preparation for their forthcoming presidential endorsement, on the condition that it be kept off the record. After the editors publicly wondered why such an interview should be kept from the public, Team Obama relented and belatedly allowed the interview to be published. On Thursday, the DMR’s front page gave something of a clue as to which way their endorsement would swing — which, we learned on Saturday, turned out to be quite accurate. (Take note: This is the first time the left-leaning DMR has endorsed a Republican for president in 40 years. Just sayin.’)

Which candidate could forge the compromises in Congress to achieve these goals? When the question is framed in those terms, Mitt Romney emerges the stronger candidate.

The former governor and business executive has a strong record of achievement in both the private and the public sectors. He was an accomplished governor in a liberal state. He founded and ran a successful business that turned around failing companies. He successfully managed the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. …

The president’s best efforts to resuscitate the stumbling economy have fallen short. Nothing indicates it would change with a second term in the White House.

Ya’ burnt. National Review points out that, on the heels of the DMR endorsement, Romney also won the endorsements of three other Iowa newspapers — and with Iowa still very much in the swing-state running, the papers’ endorsements certainly can’t hurt Romney’s cause.

Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter, as you might readily imagine, took the dismissive tack on Sunday morning, via The Hill:

“They endorsed Mitt Romney in the primary, so this was not much of a surprise,” said Cutter on ABC’s “This Week” of the influential swing-state paper’s backing for President Obama’s challenger.

“It was a little surprising to read that editorial, because it didn’t seem to be based at all in reality, not just in the president’s record, but in Mitt Romney’s record,” Cutter added. “It says that he’d reach across the aisle, which he’d do the exact opposite. It’s the exact opposite of what he did in Massachusetts.” …

“Over the course of running for president over this last six years, he’s never once stood up to the far extreme right wing,” she said, citing the controversy over Indiana GOP Senate candidate Richard Mourdock’s recent comments on abortion and rape.  “Just this past week we saw it, when he wouldn’t take down his ad for Richard Mourdock, who had — you know, it’s a now famous comment that it’s God’s will if a woman gets pregnant through rape. He’s not willing to stand up when it matters.”

Huh. Criticizing the thought process of a paper that endorsed Obama in 2008 as out-of-touch with the big issues of the election, and then pivoting to the faux-”war on women” to do so. …Well, somebody certainly doesn’t seem to be based in reality.

Whose will is it then, Steph? If you’re a God fearing individual and you believe life begins at conception, then it stands to reason you would conclude that pregnancy was God’s will. It doesn’t mean you’re defending the rapist.

Cutter: The DMR’s endorsement just not “based at all in reality”

Reality based? What in the name of God does Stephine Cutter know about reality? Now granted, their are many things that may and may not be based in reality, like Stephine Cutter’s entire grasp of reality. Or perhaps a single word the Obama Administration has uttered about the Benghazi incident, but Stephine Cutter is certainly not one to making reliable assertions on what constitutes reality.

was Obama in the Situation Room observing the live attack in Benghazi?

This is THE question to ask over and over again after November 6. If the answer is yes and if he ordered our forces to stand down, impeachment proceedings must begin immediately.

On second thought, screw impeachment. An order to stand down ultimately aided and abetted the self-proclaimed enemy of our nation in its effort to kill our ambassador and the consulate staff.

According to Article III, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort” (emphasis added).

Serpent Queen, there are reports that the president watched the Benghazi attack live in the Situation Room. Is this true? Yes or no is the answer. Why did he let our ambassador and three other brave heroes die? Two died in a mortar strike 5 or 6 hours after the attack began. Why did any of them have to die or flee the barracks with their lives? Why did we not defend them when we knew al Qaeda affiliates were growing more dangerous, according to our murdered ambassador’s own cables to State?

How do you traitors look at yourselves in the mirror? I doubt any of you beasts see a reflection.

Red Cloud on October 28, 2012 at 5:29 PM

Now that the DMR has endorsed Obama Romney, the tipping point has been reached. Many swing states polls either have Romney up, or tied. Couple the endorsement, the polls, and the fact that Obama’s job approval rating has fallen through the floor and one can only conclude that Obama is #winning like Charlie Sheen./

So Romney managed to get a balanced budget for 4 years with an 86% Democrat legislature and he doesn’t reach accross the aisle?

And Obama couldn’t manage to get even a single Democrat vote on his budget proposals (so he can’t even engage his own party) and hasn’t had a budget in over 3 years. The Register isn’t the one having trouble seeing reality, Stephanie.

“They endorsed Mitt Romney in the primary, so this was not much of a surprise,” said Cutter on ABC’s “This Week” of the influential swing-state paper’s backing for President Obama’s challenger.

Really? Well, remembering stuff is as hard for you as reality, isn’t it Stephie????

Let’s reset the context. Liberals like you were chomping at the bit to get the GOP to nominate Romney. You and the Dr. Phil look-alike (if Dr. Phil were a child molester) were high-fiving each other when Mitt got the nomination because you thought you could smear him as a vulture capitalist- a term you stole from Newt. The DMR endorsed Mitt Romney as part of that same thought process with the understanding that rat-eared wonder would ultimately be the paper’s choice.

Well, Obama has been unable to defend his record and really hasn’t given voice to his agenda for the next four years. Mitt Romney clearly did to the DMR editorial board at the same time Obama demanded his comments be off the record. That was enough for the DMR to make their choice.

BTW, I was with someone from Eastern Iowa this weekend who couldn’t understand why Iowa wasn’t already supporting Romney. Perhaps this will put things over the top.

It’s not. Have you gone to Breitbart’s site? They fired General Ham on 10/18/12. Timelines.

Huh. Criticizing the thought process of a paper that endorsed Obama in 2008 as out-of-touch with the big issues of the election, and then pivoting to the faux-”war on women” to do so. …Well, somebody certainly doesn’t seem to be based in reality.

…I thought they changed the components in airplane model glue…so you couldn’t get weird sniffing it anymore!

Here’s a dose of reality for ya, Stephanie: your boy is going down! Let that one sink in.

Yes, I have seen that, I am also aware of the fact that he was scheduled to remain in that posting until March 2013. However at this point what we do not have is a direct confirmation from General Ham that he was fired for attempting to disobey a order to stand down, or for attempting to send help to Ambassador Stevens.

From everything I have been able to learn General Ham was a Democrat, the “let’s end don’t ask don’t tell” General. So if he is a hardcore Democrat we may never learn what really happened short of him being questioned under oath by congress, where he is specifically asked if it happened.

That means he’s arming Iran.

Probably full of gunfire. I made a wrong turn looking for a Polish deli on the south side of Chicago earlier in the week. Ended up in da hood ~63 south near Ashland. I started to look for the fastest egress when I heard three pops. Sounded like 22LR or another small caliber. It was in the vicinity of a murder by gunshot the previous night.

I turned around and passed 5 police cruisers doing a~60 on the city streets to the location I had just left. I turned on the radio to hear the announcement of Obama landing at O’Hare to go vote early on the south side…

I do not miss living in CHicago at all.

Don’t keep us in suspense, man. Did you find the deli?

And how were their pickles?
