Videos: Celebrity check-ins for 2012

posted at 8:01 pm on October 27, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

It’s a Saturday, which means we need a couple of palate cleansers, especially this close to the election.  First up is Reason TV’s Nick Gillespie, who jumps into the Wayback Machine and recalls a particularly creepy 2009 video in which a number of entertainment-industry celebrities pledged to “serve Barack Obama.”  How did that work out for what Nick calls “America’s best and brightest celebrities”?  In some cases, we probably don’t want to know:

Next, Steven Crowder has decided to make his own celebrity appeal on behalf of Barack Obama.  Donning a wig and a fake tattoo, Steven explains that every young person should make their “first time” special by trading it for, er, “more free crap”:

Frankly, I’m not sure which of these is more disturbing.

How many of the people on the highest-paid celebs list (see link) are also flaming libs, shilling for Obama?

O/T: the Libya debacle is getting traction everywhere. Kudlow (one of the economics guys on CNBC) was blasting Jugears and his posse about it for most of the first hour of his Saturday show. For him, it is a mortal sin to watch our peeps die on TV and refuse to try to rescue them. He is not going to let this go.

A source, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a volunteer outside the Morse Road polling center. She has witnessed Somalis who cannot speak English come to the polling center. They are brought in groups, by van or bus. The Democrats hand them a slate card and say, “vote Brown all the way down.” Given that Sherrod Brown is the incumbent Democrat Senator in Ohio, one can assume that this is the reference.

Non-English speaking voters may use an interpreter. The interpreters are permitted by law to interpret for the individual voting; however, they are forbidden from influencing their vote in any way. Another source who also wishes to remain anonymous has seen Democrat interpreters show the non-English speaking Somalis how to vote the Democrat slate that they were handed outside. According to this second source, there are not any Republican Somali interpreters available.

‘Tis true, but since 1988, the Des Moines Register endorsement has predicted the winner of Iowa in every case except 2004:

1988: Endorsed Dukakis, Iowa went for Dukakis
1992: Endorsed Clinton, Iowa went for Clinton
1996: Endorsed Clinton, Iowa went for Clinton
2000: Endorsed Gore, Iowa went for Gore
2004: Endorsed Kerry, Iowa went for Bush
2008: Endorsed Obama; Iowa went for Obama

That’s why it’s a BFD in Iowa, particularly when the races are tight there. Like I said, this augurs well for a Romney win there.

I’m embarrassed to say I probably only recognized half the celebs in that video.

Don’t be embarrassed. I don’t know any of them and would never even guess that any of them was even employed. So, does that make me a smart or stupid old fart?

If celebrity endorsements are bad then Mitt better get to kicking Meatloaf to the curb.
