Quotes of the day

posted at 9:16 pm on October 27, 2012 by Allahpundit

The White House on Saturday flatly denied that President Barack Obama withheld requests for help from the besieged American compound in Benghazi, Libya, as it came under on attack by suspected terrorists on September 11th.

“Neither the president nor anyone in the White House denied any requests for assistance in Benghazi,” National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor told Yahoo News by email…

“Would the secretary of defense make such a decision on his own? No,” [Bill] Kristol wrote. “It would have been a presidential decision.”

“He’s wrong,” said Vietor.

***

Bill Kristol suggests that it had to be a decision by Obama himself not to help the Americans under siege in Benghazi and that David Petraeus is signaling exactly that with the CIA’s emphatic denial that the decision came from his shop. If that’s true, at what point does Petraeus have to speak out? If the reports are true, I think you can make the case that Petraeus should resign in protest. But that’s based somewhat on speculation about what I think happened. I don’t know for sure. Petraeus does.

***

“President Obama today said that he gave an order to everyone while the attack was going on to do everything they could to secure the personnel,” [former Reagan assistant secretary of defense Bing] West said. “Now that’s really big because that means that those who were turning down [former Navy SEAL] Ty Woods when he was asking for the help were going against the orders of the president of the United States.”…

“A chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff doesn’t take an order from the president when he says ‘do everything’ and not put that in writing and send it out to the chain of command,” West said. “If that actually happened the way President Obama today said it happened, there’s a paper trail and I think people reasonably enough can say, ‘well can we see the order?’ because hundreds of others supposedly saw this order.”

“But if there is no order then people have to ask some very basic questions, ‘what the heck happened?’” he said.

***

1.) To whom did the president give the first of his “three very clear directives”—that is, “make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to?”…

7.) Was the president made aware of the repeated requests for assistance from the men under attack? When and by whom?…

9.) Did the president refuse to authorize an armed drone strike on the attackers?

10.) Did the president refuse to authorize a C-130 [Spectre gunship] to enter Libyan airspace during the attack?

***

[A]s of right now, outside of a very few exceptions, the CorruptMedia has coordinated with the White House to create a complete blackout around this story. Not even yesterday’s denial from the CIA that indirectly implicates the White House garnered any media attention.

In the closing days of a reelection campaign the CorruptMedia is desperate to see Obama win, it’s glaringly obvious that nothing this potentially damaging to the president will be allowed to see the light of day — at least not until after November 6.

Had Obama answered Clark’s question yesterday, he would’ve violated this unspoken blackout agreement by making news. This would’ve forced the CorruptMedia to cover a story they’re desperate to pretend doesn’t exist. Obama knows his Media Palace Guards are covering for him, and he knew that wouldn’t have been possible had he done anything that nudged the story.

Hey Gumby… ever think maybe Ohio is a decoy?

Mitt doesn’t need Ohio to win anymore… yet that is Obama’s big spend! Funny funny head fake!

Mitt’s headed to Wisconsin… do a Electoral map lately? Mitt’s got FL, VA, CO,and NC in the bag so any combination of a couple of others and Mitt doesn’t need Ohio in the least.

But Mitt will win Ohio anyway… those polls are saying more than a quarter have voted already and they haven’t, plus makes you wonder who is answering the phone these days if 1/4 of the poll takers have voted doesn’t it?

Republicans are also getting new voters to vote early… Democrats have the usual suspects…

All that adds up to you needing a drink or two to make it through next Tuesday.

Simply put, IF Romney’s lead in the national polls remains at 4-5%, there is no realistic scenario where he will lose the electoral college vote. 4-5 point lead is an outright victory that will not be close. Unless things change in 10 days dramatically, it is starting to look like a Romney win, and potentially a substantial win.

Realistically the state polls have to be wrong. They are in direct contradiction of national polls.

General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2951223/posts

bluefox on October 27, 2012 at 9:33 PM

As head of AFRICOM, Libya being one of the countries under its command, Gen. Ham would have received the same encrypted flash message from the Tripoli Embassy that was simultaneously received in the WH situation room about the Ambassador’s peril in Behghazi. AFRICOM has about 100 special operators at ready just for these kinds of things. Standing orders would have required Gen. Ham to engage, unless and until he received orders from the WH to stand down.

After the WH sit room received that flash message from Tripoli, it would have located the POTUS and made him immediately aware of the Ambassador’s situation and that AFRICOM was in the process of sending assistance. All of this takes place in one or two minutes.

The only person who could have stopped AFRICOM’s required response under these standing orders would be the POTUS. It’s that simple. I pray that Gen. Ham will speak out immediately, as the blood of the Benghazi Four are on Obama’s hands.

No doubt.

Super quakes have happened in the past, and they will happen again. Swarms precede large quakes, and in some cases mitigate them.

Man’s knowledge of how the Earth’s crust does what when is miniscule compared to what man knows about how the atmosphere works. And look how spot on that has been.

The earth is a magnificent machine. So is man. But man has so little impact on the Earth that it doesn’t notice us now, and won’t miss us if we leave.

Actually, the news on Gallup is worse than just the outlier sample falling off. That would have caused an immediate bump for Obama. But this has been a point or two each day, Romney just bleeding support and Obama consistently gaining.

Went from 52-45 to 50-47.

Tomorrow will be fun since Obama will be gaining on Rasmussen, according to Ras himself!

Guess what, RuPoll? It’s tomorrow! The poll was just released. Rather than being “another swing state disaster poll for Mitt, it’s tied. As the newspaper observes, “This is a major change from a similar poll a month ago, when Obama held a 51-46 percent lead over Romney. The reason may be shifts in key parts of the electorate.”

You must be into masochism because you have the strangest definition of “fun” that I have ever seen.

wargamer6 on October 28, 2012 at 12:40 AM

The Greatest President Ever knows he’s in trouble and is willing to try anything, anything, to squeeze out one more vote. If he thinks his base is so helpless and infantilized that something like this appeals to them, great. If he thinks this will sway “independents” and “undecideds” and other people who won’t admit they’re voting for Romney because their friends will think they’re uncool and/or racist, fantastic. Run with that.

Keep showing us just what a serious guy you are, Mr. President: Big Bird, binders, bayonets, and babbling bubbleheads.

Ed Klein stated that the Clinton’s legal team told him that there were documents that showed President Obama denied the requests for additional security at the Benghazi Consulate despite Hillary Clinton’s request for more security. He also said that Bill Clinton wants to release the documents to exonerate his wife. (The Blaze TV)

He does – it’s all over his face.

I want him as my President more than I ever thought I would. I mean Obama out is of course the most important but now I want to see what Mitt can do.

gophergirl on October 28, 2012 at 12:13 AM

I was totally anti-Mitt 2 years ago, but not anymore! This country is in a mess. We need a leader who can say the word budget, who knows how to hire good people, who has his head on straight about capitalism, and who loves America. I’m praying for a big BIG win.

Makes sense. A friend said the reason our quake was felt as far away as it was, even though it was relatively small, was the sandy soil here.

Wow, Gumby was right. This is gonna be a fun day!

Meanwhile … how is it that Obutthead supposedly gave three directives the “minute” he found out what was happening but those directives apparently weren’t carried out?

He said the “minute” he found out what was happening he said everything should be done to secure American personnel.

Okaaay … So if he was in that meeting at 5 pm w/ Biden & Panetta then why wasn’t a rescue effort launched at that point? Woods and Doherty didn’t get killed until hours later.

When exactly did he learn about the Libya attack?

NOTHING about what Obama said bears any resemblance to the facts as we know them.

We know that the freaking embassy was not even “secured” until THREE WEEKS after the attack. How is that POSSIBLE if Obutthead gave the immediate directive to “get to the bottom of this.”

Nobody is running the country right now.

Except maybe the Jihadis.

“… it is a rare thing these days to encounter a Democrat who is both honest and intelligent.

It has become a party of fools misled by clever liars, and the factual deficiencies of The Plan won’t dissuade any Democrat who still believes in the rainbows-and-unicorns fantasy of Obama the Lightworker.

We’ve come to expect such delusions among the intelligentsia. What is astonishing is that any ordinary man could still be such a fool.”~Robert Stacy McCain

If Obama is re-elected, just imagine the mess he’ll inherit.

John the Libertarian on October 27, 2012 at 10:59 PM

It will be so bad that the only solution will be a $500 trillion stimulus bill, an amendment to ObamaCare that will provide coverage for children living with their parents up to age 56, with free Viagra and blow-up dolls, and trillions in clean energy investments that turn transcendental meditation into usable kilowatts.

TXUS on October 28, 2012 at 12:56 AM

Obama picked the Tigers to win the World Series, they are now down 3-0 to the Giants and have been shutout in the last 2 games. Like a wise man once said: “President Obama: You don’t just pick winners and losers, you only pick the losers” I wonder if Romney is going to get a bounce in MI now.

Raquel Pinkbullet on October 28, 2012 at 12:32 AM

Everything he picks turns to sheet.

I’ll never forget when he started praising Michael Vick a couple years ago. The Eagles never won another game the rest of the season. I kid you not.

He is success kryptonite!

Sure can tell we’re within two weekends of the election! Five pages of posts and we’re STILL on politics!
