AP survey finds Americans still a bunch of racists… even if they don’t realize it

posted at 5:31 pm on October 27, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

It must be almost election time and, presumably, the president’s numbers must not be looking all that spectacular. How can you tell? Well, among various factors, the Associated Press has released yet another in their long series of heralded, highly respected studies detailing precisely what a bunch of racists you all are if you’re considering voting for anyone other than Barack Obama. Only this one comes with a twist. The helpful people constructing the poll, worried that you might be living in some sort of state of denial, will help ferret out your racist feelings even if you can’t recognize them yourself. (emphasis mine)

Racial attitudes have not improved in the four years since the United States elected its first black president, an Associated Press poll finds, as a slight majority of Americans now express prejudice toward blacks whether they recognize those feelings or not.

Those views could cost President Barack Obama votes as he tries for re-election, the survey found, though the effects are mitigated by some people’s more favorable views of blacks.

How, you may be wondering, do they perform this miraculous feat? Why, it’s through the wonders of technology! You see, there’s a difference between “explicit racism” and “implicit racism” among Americans. For the “explicit racism” test, they just asked people how well certain words described various racial groups. These included things like, “friendly,” “hardworking,” “violent” and “lazy.”

But just in case you saw through that clever trick, they’ll still manage to get you sorted out with a test for “implicit” feelings.

The same respondents were also administered a survey designed to measure implicit racism, in which a photo of a black, Hispanic or white male flashed on the screen before a neutral image of a Chinese character. The respondents were then asked to rate their feelings toward the Chinese character. Previous research has shown that people transfer their feelings about the photo onto the character, allowing researchers to measure racist feelings even if a respondent does not acknowledge them.

Their results? There’s plenty of explicit racism to go around, but when you roll in the implicit kind, more than half of the white people in America are racists. So, if Obama loses next week, now you know why.

If we vote for the rich guy and he gets to make the “investments” on behalf of the people, do you think he would invest in Solyndra or in a company that might generate some revenue?

The rich guy seems to have a better track record with his investments.

kringeesmom on October 27, 2012 at 8:10 PM

.
Yes he absolutely does, but the Government shouldn’t be investing in private business, period.

However, I’m all for reducing (abolishing?) the crippling taxes and regulations that strangle private business (big, small, medium, whatever).

I suppose the leadership of the Democrat Party would try to call that (tax cuts) “Government investing”, but it’s not.

Perhaps, just perhaps racial divides have worsened in the last 4 years because Obama has been the biggest divider in American history. It began with the beer summit, then the black panthers. demonizing the rich, suburbs vs cities, etc…It also doesnt help when black celebrities state openly that they are voting for Obama because he is black. Who are the racists again? Seems to me that this isnt a problem with caucasions.

Let the dog-eater lose because of racism. Let him lose because of his corrupt administration. Let him lose because of his anti-American policies. Let him lose because he’s leading us more and more toward European socialism and a Greek tragedy. Let him lose because his party has foisted an expensive lie called the Affordable Health Care Act onto the country. Let him lose because he’s turned into a small, pathetic excuse for a human being. Let him lose because he allowed four people to die needlessly in Benghazi and has worked nonstop trying to cover it up. Let him lose to show that we no longer will put up with a national media that will cover for liars, thieves and corrupt politicians in our government. But whatever the reason, whatever the excuse, just get rid of the this lying, corrupt and evil bastard man-child.

Practically speaking, “racist” means White, and the Republican Party is “racist” because 90% of its supporters are White (even if it never does anything for them), while “anti-racist” means anti-White, and the Democratic party is “anti-racist” because so many of its supporters and high officials (like Attorney General Holder) exhibit anti-White prejudice.

I’m sure Powell is voting for Obama based on his brilliance when it comes to military strategy, like leaving four men to die in Benghazi. Maybe it’s the deft handling of the economy, or perhaps even orchestrating the deaths of over 300 Mexican nationals and two federal agents by way of a slipshod gun-running program.

Personally, I think Powell is supporting Obama because of the Lilly Ledbetter Law.

neyney on October 27, 2012 at 9:05 PM: “Who are the racists again?”

Whites, by definition. Otherwise it would be “reverse racism” – which is an admission that the “racist!” smear (without adjectives) is anti-White.

In the lead story also, “the effects are mitigated by some people’s more favorable views of blacks.”

If Whites prefer Whites, that’s racism. If Blacks or Whites prefer Blacks (because Blacks practically never prefer Whites), that mitigates racism rather than being racism.

“Racism” is a smear consistently directed at Whites, and it only has legal and punishing force when it is directed at Whites. When conservatives try to shout “racist!” back, it’s impotent, because this is a term the left created and controls, and it means what they want it to mean.

Whites should reject the “racist!” scare word and the “anti-racist” goody-good label, which always means anti-White. They should drop the futile efforts to play “I’m rubber, you’re glue”.

Instead, call the anti-Whites anti-White, because there is a ton of evidence to show that they are. When you’re discussing anti-Whites like President Obama’s pastor and friends, all you have to do is quote their own words to show that they are anti-White.

MN J on October 27, 2012 at 11:03 PM: “Do the lefties who design these surveys/tests realize that they are including themselves (if they’re white) in the racist category?”

If they don’t they should, because that’s what “white skin privilege” is all about, and you can’t get through university without running into it.

The difference is between unredeemed, unrepentant Whites, who should be called “racist!” and demonized as much as possible, and them, the enlightened “anti-racist” ones who earn their redemption day by day, by being anti-White and favoring non-Whites. It’s a rigged game, to put it mildly.

MN J on October 27, 2012 at 11:03 PM: “Racism is racism – black:white; white:black; Asian:non-Asian: non-Asian: Asian; etc., etc., etc.”

No, in practice it really isn’t; it’s always Whites being accused.

And politically it works, because conservatives, mostly White people, accept the biased “racist” terminology and keep pleading “not guilty!” when they are accused of racism. Pleading not guilty all the time becomes just pleading, and politically pleading is losing.

And the left has noticed this, and they find it fun to win all the time just by doing something moronically simple. It’s like conservatives have been giving liberals a reward every time they punch the “racist!” button. By now, liberals are addicted; they like the easy rewards, they like the political wins, they enjoy insulting conservatives with the anticipation of rewards, and they are not going to stop, unless the game changes.

So no matter how “done” conservatives feel the “racist!” accusation is, the left is going to keep it up as long as Whites accept the validity of the label instead of just dismissing the “anti-racist” left as anti-White, which it is. That’s the only way to get the pain to stop, and for conservatives to stop needlessly pleading and losing.

David Blue on October 27, 2012 at 11:34 PM

Seems to me there’s something racist about attributing racism only to whites. World history shows that all races are capable of irrational hate for people different than they. And as often as blacks are told how much whites hate them, I find it hard to believe today’s African Americans are not every bit as racist as whites. It’s easier to hate others when you think they hate you.

nkviking75 on October 28, 2012 at 12:57 AM

nkviking75 on October 28, 2012 at 12:57 AM: “Seems to me there’s something racist about attributing racism only to whites.”

It’s the left’s term. It means what they want it to mean. It’s their shield against honest scrutiny about qualifications and results, their sword when forcing through affirmative action and other anti-White legislation, and their whip of insult in every occasion.

If you’re using the term, you’re validating it, and you’re helping them.

Answering “you’re racist too” doesn’t work. It’s been not working for conservatives for decades. The results are in.

The only way to stop the pain and stop the pointless pleading and losing is to stop playing the left’s game and identify the “anti-racists” as anti-White.

David Blue on October 28, 2012 at 1:58 AM

jaydee_007 on October 28, 2012 at 5:03 AM: “I wonder if it’s time to just give up and actually BE Racist.”

No, this is what the anti-Whites want you to do: react to being demonized by defining yourself as a demon, which means politically defining yourself as a loser.

The anti-Whites are not the moral side. They are as biased as anyone can be, constantly smearing Whites, and pushing for legislation that disadvantages Whites.

Call them on it. Don’t accept the “racist” label. Point out that they, the alleged “anti-racists,” are really anti-White. Make them eat that, because it’s true. Quote what they say, because they constantly smear Whites and call up even the most ancient, irrelevant and historically dubious misdeeds of Whites and only Whites, which would be taken as evidence of race bias if they were doing that to Blacks. It is bias, it’s anti-White bias. Pin it on them.

That’s the way to have self-respect, and politically it’s the way to win.

The way conservatives have been reacting to the left’s accusations of racism for decades leads to lack of self respect and political defeat.

Colon Powell was mentored by Casper Weinburger, Reagan’s defense Secretary.. he rose rapidly through the ranks, getting whatever assignments he needed to het that 4th star,.. all at the behest of republican [residents, and defense secretaries who valued his skill… and black republicans who have abilities are as valued as any one in the party..

We loved him, respected him and we even considered him for the presidency, even though he had mildly centrist views on social issues..

Then Powell not only betrayed us, he did so in as an insulting a manor possible, blaming us for being to right wing…

an outright bald faced lie.

The party hadn’t changed to the right since Reagan, if anything Bush pulled the party left towards the center… so to justify his endorsement and the left’s lauding him with all the laurels they reserve for a traitor to the GOP… he made up the nonsense that we’re too right wing and divisive for him..

Then he endorses, the single worst race baiter divisive president in history, the most radically left wing, the most arrogant putz ever to defile the oval office….

Gee.. way to distort reality Colon…

The fact is (P)Ric…

Powell would endorse Satan if he were black.. and only an idiot believes otherwise..

Prominent American blacks suddenly so blinded by racial loyalty, they commit the vilest of evil acts..

They betray a centrist right party.. and brand it’s members racist,.. for the party of slavery and Jim Friggin Crowe..

He betrayed the men who molded and aided his career, smearing them on the way out the door.. all so he can hang with brother Jesse.. gag,….

all to please his reportedly very racist wife..

I’ve seen that before, I guy in my unit, married, but he could never bring his squad mates home to meet the wife,.. then we found out why when we finally did meet the bigoted hag..

Hi, I’m Mark.. good to meet you….

“I DON’T TALK TO CRACKER ASSSHOLES, YOU PEOPLE ARE DIRTY.”

so don’t tell us that your party hasn’t filled it’s ranks with any race but theirs hating bigots, i’ve met some of them.

They have been pushing this for over 4 years now. It wasn’t true to begin with, now it is stale, desperate, dishonorable, and pathetic.

CorporatePiggy on October 28, 2012 at 9:08 AM

Obama has tread cautiously on the subject of race, but many African-Americans have talked openly about perceived antagonism toward them since Obama took office. As evidence, they point to events involving police brutality or cite bumper stickers, cartoons and protest posters that mock the president as a lion or a monkey, or lynch him in effigy.

We all forget about the vicious attacks on Condeleeza Rice (and other conservative blacks) by the Left during the Bush administration. There was no “perceived antagonism” about it. It was right out there in our faces. And hardly a peep was heard.

NavyMustang on October 28, 2012 at 10:37 AM

This is just the media trying very hard to breath a little more life into the race card which has become badly overdrawn.

Kind of like trying to kick up the credit limit on a severely overloaded credit card.

CrazyFool on October 28, 2012 at 10:58 AM

Racial attitudes have not improved in the four years since the United States elected its first black president, an Associated Press poll finds, as a slight majority of Americans now express prejudice toward blacks whether they recognize those feelings or not.

IF this is true… I blame Obama, Jimmy Carter, MSNBC… and the host of other leftist who have attempted to stoke the race divide.

RalphyBoy on October 28, 2012 at 11:55 AM

So no matter how “done” conservatives feel the “racist!” accusation is, the left is going to keep it up as long as Whites accept the validity of the label instead of just dismissing the “anti-racist” left as anti-White, which it is. That’s the only way to get the pain to stop, and for conservatives to stop needlessly pleading and losing.

David Blue on October 27, 2012 at 11:34 PM

I hear you, but if you think white folks pointing at other white folks (think the MSNBC crew) and saying “you’re the ones who are racists – you’re anti-White!” is going to turn into a politically winning theme, you’re mistaken.

People – all of them – will simply look at you and say, “um, dude – they’re white – take your meds.”

Feel free to argue that *they* are the ones whose policies harm minorities the most; that *they* are the ones whose mentality presumes little or no capability on the part of minorities to achieve anything without help from everyone else, that *they* presume minorities can’t perform academically as well as anyone else, etc.

There is also a continuous current of anti-White violence which the mainstream media refuses to report: Beat Whitey Night, Knockout King, “polar bear hunts” and “flash mob” riots that pass without any honest reporting. The news will be in the reader comments to a story published online, not in the falsified and anodyne “news” story. And its increasingly common for the comments to be censored or deleted, or for the “news” organizations to chill anonymous (and overly candid) commenting.

This is the opposite of how a mass media that was honestly interested in news and profits would act. It’s also the opposite of how a mass media that was genuinely interested in social responsibility would act, because by keeping its readers ignorant of what’s happening in the world, the media outlets expose their readers to real danger.

This is how a mass media machine would act if it saw itself mainly as a gatekeeper of acceptable news, with a responsibility to filter out news that makes non-Whites bad or that might alarm Whites and start them thinking about how to defend themselves against dangerous non-Whites. In other words, this is consistent with the mass media having a politically correct anti-White agenda.

Just knowing the sort of stuff that Associated Press keeps hidden might be enough to have a White person counted as “racist”.

That is how easy it is to manufacture evidence convicting Whites and / or conservatives of “racism,” provided conservatives stick to their old, losing method of backing away, pleading not guilty, validating the tropes of evil “racism” and heroic “anti-racism,” and not calling the anti-Whites on what they are.

But that’s not honest. I’m advocating that “anti-racists” who are in fact anti-White be called on it because it’s true, and because it’s politically effective, and because it’s necessary to the defense of legitimate interests White people have in not getting mugged, in having a fair chance at a job and so on. The way you say it, you’re conceding that Whites have no legitimate interests at all – to object to anything, you have to say it’s bad for non-Whites, and to do that you have to imply that you are the experts on what is good for non-Whites. (As opposed to them, because they will vote solidly liberal, thus contradicting you on what is in their best interests.) That’s not true, it’s not credible, and it doesn’t work (because conservatives have been reciting that bogus rhetorical line for ages with no good results to show for it).

I think it’s worth trying the truth, since bogus rhetoric has been tried for decades with nothing but bad results to show for it.

The truth is that a lot of White people really are anti-White in every way that matters, and they don’t deserve a pass on it. It’s the content of their character I’m addressing, and the pernicious effects of their bias, and not whether they personally have white, black, brown, yellow or red skin.

And if you don’t address anti-White bias, which we can see all around us (especially in the heavily White mass media and academia), you’re effectively conceding that all these people don’t have the biases that they do have, and that they should be treated as objective experts (which is what they want), and that means automatic defeat, because the first thing they’ll do with the credibility you’ve conceded to them is to say: “you are a racist, a bigot, a fool, a Nazi, etc..” Which is where we came in – that is the tendency of the Associated Press’s study.

This is one of those situations where you have to challenge the credibility of your accusers in the most honest, pertinent and easily documented way.

Benghazi. Because, unlike 9/11, 1.It was actually preventable. 2. Obama’s policies are directly responsible for what happened there.

The confidential President’s Daily Brief (PDB) for August 6, 2001 contained a two-page section entitled “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US,” and refers to possible hijacking attempts by Osama bin Laden disciples and the existence of about 70 FBI investigations into alleged al-Qaeda cells operating within the United States.

Yep totally unpreventable.

Ric on October 27, 2012 at 10:52 PM

So, Ric… how about you show us in your quote just WHERE the PDB mentions flying hijacked planes into buildings, hmm?
