Question for Obama supporters: What do you think of Mitt Romney’s “kill list?”

posted at 8:15 pm on October 26, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Dave Weigel, if that headline reads funny to you, don’t worry. Soon all will become clear. This comes from the same guy who recently stumped Debbie Wasserman-Schultz by asking her what she thought of the “kill list,” which Debbie took to be so outlandish an idea that it simply must be a prank. Nope — but after watching this, you’ll have a bit more insight into her ignorance. There’s a lot going on here: These are, almost certainly, what we’d call “low-information voters,” and like most of the public, it’s easier for them to assume the worst about the guy from the other party than the guy whom they support. (The flip side to this experiment is telling Obama voters that he supports some insane policy that the interviewer’s made up whole cloth and then see how many will say they agree with it.) But then, that’s how power grabs become institutionalized. As the two parties alternate in controlling the government, each side’s supporters feel obliged to defend — or at least ignore — their guy’s overreach while it’s under sharp attack from their political opponents. Most people aren’t wonks; their policy preferences are heavily informed by what people on their own side whom they trust are saying. Of course, you already knew all this.

Weigel’s post ends by noting that you can’t blame average voters for spacing on the “kill list” when the media hasn’t spent much time covering it. True, but if Romney hits 270, that’ll change soon. The list will be the Biggest Issue Ever.

I don’t quite agree. There’s a reason Bush was polling in the 30′s and it wasn’t due to war fatigue. Conservative minded people disliked much of Bush’s policy decisions and that was reflected in his poll numbers.

I think it’s time we gave serious thought to “progressive voting.”

http://piqscore.com/2012/09/low-information-voters-its-time-to-rethink-one-man-one-vote/

Like “progressive taxes,” where the more you earn the more you pay, a “progressive voting” scheme rewards knowledgable voters by increasing the proportional value of their vote. The article above proposes how to do it… and explains why it isn’t discriminatory. :-)

Hahaha, that was priceless. That’s what is so sad about this election, so many people aren’t paying attention to what’s going on in the real world. They are more concerned about what Eva Longoria and Lady Gaga and Honey boo boo and the View and Letterman think about issues than actually reading up on things themselves. Sad, sad, sad.

El_Terrible on October 26, 2012 at 8:35 PM

The only “k**l list” I suspect Romney of having is a list of Federal agencies which are ineffective (which means they need to be overhauled), or else have outlived their usefulness or never served any reasonable purpose to begin with (which means they are slated for disestablishment).

Any experienced, competent CEO, coming in to try to keep a foundering company from going under, will either have such a list coming in, or will have one generated after a very short time. (The deadwood in such a situation is usually very obvious; read Scott Adams’ The Dilbert Principle for some of the typical clues.)

My one quibble with Romney over this is that I have another suspicion. Namely, that his list is significantly shorter than mine.

I don’t see why the kill list should be controversial in the first place. If you are located on foreign outside the jurisdiction of domestic law enforcement and are part of a terrorist organization you should be treated as any other terrorist would, regardless of your status as an American citizen.

Of course the backbone of O’s support was African Americans. “Was” because now white elitist liberals must be considered the backbone, as they vote in higher percentages for O. Blacks are abandoning O because of gay marriage and also the economy, as now a Survey USA poll has 22% of blacks voting for Romney, and just 70% supporting O. This of course spells disaster for O. Play up O’s support for gay marriage in the black communities in the final days. Interesting comments at the Free Republic thread on this, as:

We live in a 30 home, gated community outside of Columbus oh. Rules are no signs of any type in yards they must be in windows. So there are quite a few RR in windows. Last week, the only black family in our community put up a good sized Romney sign right smack in the middle of their yard. The assoc president asked them to remove it and place in their window, THEY REFUSED, TOLD HIM TO GET A COURT ORDER!!!!

This both parites are the same stuff is what you hear from that Orielly idiot on FOX. When conservatives defend their guy, they usually can explain why. And when our guy is full of sh!t, we say so. Obama could be-head an 18 year old pregnant woman on the 50 yard line during the super bowl and liberals would be out the next day defending him. NO SIR! We are not the same.

A quick check of Wikipedia says they are affiliated with the 9/11 Truthers.

Adherents of the 9/11 Truth movement come from diverse social backgrounds.[1][22][25] The movement draws adherents from people of diverse political beliefs including liberals, conservatives, and libertarians.[3][19][25] A 2010 study of Facebook users affiliated with a 9/11 Truth group known as “We Are Change” found that most members of this group are males in their late 20s.
