Question for Obama supporters: What do you think of Mitt Romney’s “kill list?”

posted at 8:15 pm on October 26, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Dave Weigel, if that headline reads funny to you, don’t worry. Soon all will become clear. This comes from the same guy who recently stumped Debbie Wasserman-Schultz by asking her what she thought of the “kill list,” which Debbie took to be so outlandish an idea that it simply must be a prank. Nope — but after watching this, you’ll have a bit more insight into her ignorance. There’s a lot going on here: These are, almost certainly, what we’d call “low-information voters,” and like most of the public, it’s easier for them to assume the worst about the guy from the other party than the guy whom they support. (The flip side to this experiment is telling Obama voters that he supports some insane policy that the interviewer’s made up whole cloth and then see how many will say they agree with it.) But then, that’s how power grabs become institutionalized. As the two parties alternate in controlling the government, each side’s supporters feel obliged to defend — or at least ignore — their guy’s overreach while it’s under sharp attack from their political opponents. Most people aren’t wonks; their policy preferences are heavily informed by what people on their own side whom they trust are saying. Of course, you already knew all this.

Weigel’s post ends by noting that you can’t blame average voters for spacing on the “kill list” when the media hasn’t spent much time covering it. True, but if Romney hits 270, that’ll change soon. The list will be the Biggest Issue Ever.

WTC 7 came down by explosives. It’s architectural fact.

Why was the window glass on the north side of WTC7 intact as it went down, then?

Did you know it takes a force of 36,000 PSI to rend structural steel but only 2 PSI to break window glass?

Yet the videos of WTC7 clearly show nearly all the windows intact as it comes down.

Illinois nazis. I hate Illinois nazis.

WitchDoctor on October 27, 2012 at 12:31 AM

THAT was priceless! The sad thing is that both sides enjoy putting the blinders on when their guy is in charge. Regardless of party, giving the benefit of the doubt to any politician will only lead to disappointment.

HarryBackside on October 27, 2012 at 12:51 AM

A little scary given that these folks may actually vote.

These guys are 9/11 truthers… I wouldn’t have posted anything from We Are Change.

papa_giorgio on October 27, 2012 at 1:14 AM

But they make a good point. It’s the worst thing in the world when its thought of as romney’s plan, but the minute you say that obama did it already, then I’m sure it’s for a good reason. Typical

speekr on October 27, 2012 at 2:02 AM know, I am not so sure the reactions of the participants were that far off. In the interviews, there seemed to be a big disconnect between Romney and the way the guy described the policies. That is, I am not so sure these folks were as much against Romney as they were for Obama and they just did not like the things the guy said.

It would have been interesting for him to make the (correct) claim that these policies were ones that Obama was pushing and see what their reaction would have been.

Hell, he coulda won some converts.

AP!, dude. Clever, but no more Alex Jones stuff. Please!

JamesB on October 27, 2012 at 2:33 AM

Should have done it as a quiz.
State the policy then ask them which candidate supports it.
At the end then tell them the answers.
(Plus have it printed out and hand it to them to take.)

This way the people get to give the answers, not a reporter feeding them false statements. Lying or tricking people never gets converts…they all walk away saying the guy was pulling a prank making up stuff just to get their reaction…no minds changed.

Obama is a bad infomercial whose lies are directed to the fools in our nation … liberals, they’ll buy anything.

Interesting video and happy the We Are Change guy actually told these people they were Obama policies already implemented so we could watch their reaction as the reality sunk in–not that it mattered to most of them . What did surprises me are the 2 that actually looked like their world was shaken. I doubt they’d change to Romney, but perhaps sit out this election. Maybe.

I have concluded that even IF: On national TV and Live feed Streaming Barack Husein Obama while speaking to the Obamabots right in front of their eyes were to sprout horns on his head and a spiked tail from his arse, spewing fire from from his mouth…. They would still bow at his alter and pull the lever to vote for him!

YES…… they are THAT blind and stupid!

They will not listen or read anything that clearly PROVES that he HAS ACTUALLY DONE the things you list and more, and that he has signed into law without congressional approval a whole list of bills and regulations. ROGUE was the term they used for Sarah Palin…. they literally destroyed her with made up false accusations proved wrong over and again… Yet overall when questioned the masses believe the lie. The flip side to that is when it comes to Barack Obama and Joe Biden both… ALL historically accurate proof you put before a democrat/liberal/progressive is acknowledged, but… it is then excused and becomes a non issue for their complete and total idolization of their candidate… IT IS SCARY! And, THEY WILL STILL VOTE FOR HIM NO MATTER WHAT.

Agreed. And what an interesting thumbnail sketch of the FAILINGS of our fourth estate. It’s like we’re living under Pravda, told only what the political left thinks is appropriate to tell us.

Murf76 on October 27, 2012 at 10:23 AM

I don’t see why the kill list should be controversial in the first place. If you are located on foreign outside the jurisdiction of domestic law enforcement and are part of a terrorist organization you should be treated as any other terrorist would, regardless of your status as an American citizen.

Mark1971 on October 26, 2012 at 8:37 PM

So, I assume you’re cool if Russian drones take out any Chechens sitting in the UK, or better, Chinese drones take out dissidents studying in the US? Oops, a few dozen American casualities in collateral damage should be ok, too?

Firefly_76 on October 27, 2012 at 10:24 AM

Low information voters, I’d say no information voters.

mkm19602000 on October 27, 2012 at 10:24 AM

As others have pointed out, the interviewer and his group are 9/11 truthers which is unfortunate. That doesn’t change what’s in the video that AP posted though and they have other interesting videos out there. The thing is, all the stuff he brings up in the video has been ignored in recent months by the media because they want Obama to get reelected AND by Romney because he isn’t going to change any of those policies. Our freedoms continue to erode under the corrupt two party system.

Now I will say that at least I can point to a video like this when my liberal friends have the audacity to make a post on FB about how great Obama is when he’s continued or made worse all the Bush policies that they were screaming about for 8 years.

Benaiah on October 27, 2012 at 11:17 AM

Don’t blame these people. Without information from the media and a strong force for control of the fools in charge, these folks don’t have an alternative.

Remember when American automobiles were junk?

Corporate greed and governmental intrusion made a complete mess of the industry. They couldn’t run well with the pollution controls, we had panels rusting in a few months, they cornered and stopped poorly and ate gas and tires. The crowning nanny state contribution was the “seat belt interlock” where the car would not start without having the seat belt buckled. Trouble was that it often had its own opinion on when it was safe to start.

A guy named Romney had the right idea and created the little Rambler.

His hand was weak. It did not solve the problem but eventually people found better options and they forced change with their pocketbooks.

We are seeing repeated attempts like that in our politics in this election and the last one. Unfortunately, we are deep in the hole and late in the game.

We better have a heck of a hitter in the on deck circle.

Low Information, Ignorant people?

At least a dozen times during the Obamacare fight, right wing speakers debunked the Dem argument stated in the comment “We have to give them insurance or they go to emergency rooms!”.

Even Mitt said that Massachusetts found the use of emergency rooms did not decline after the uninsured had coverage and an independent study supported him.

Five minutes ago on Fox’s Cashin’ In the shrill liberal lady supported Dear Leader’s latest brainstorm (paying 64% more to Medicaid treating doctors) was reasonable since it would reduce the incidence of uninsured hitting the expensive emergency rooms.

Nobody on the panel challenged the contention with the established falsity of it that was often mentioned in the Obamacare fight.

IlikedAUH2O on October 27, 2012 at 11:56 AM

“I’m a liberal”…Sums it up! Stupid F’n people and they are sooooo full of sh*t! The only good liberal is the one that ceases breathing!

“For the greater good…”

’nuff said.

The one guy with a shread of integrity in that clip said that now that he’d had this truth brought to light, he’d “think his vote”.

The rest are themselves drones, Obamabots whose indoctrination into the progressive groupthink is complete. Especially the one who called the policies “psychopathic”, then had to take a moment to think about it once told they were Obama’s active policies.

I’m still trying to understand HA’s love affair with Dave Weigel.

Blake on October 26, 2012 at 8:29 PM

Put an extra brain cell or two to work on this problem, and it will become clear. Jake Tapper is, for the most part, a run-of-the-mill liberal pseudo-journalist. But he has a larger sense of integrity than most of his colleagues, which drives him to ask honest questions of people in power from time to time. This has endeared him to a larger audience during the past two years, and made him Conservatives’ favorite D.C. reporter from a major news label. Same story for Weigel. He isn’t loved by the Right, certainly not by HA. But, this piece, it’s for real, so good on him, and why not show it here?

HA has a love affair with some truth. If Weigel on occasion stumbles into actually doing a truthful story, it should get play. Heck, if Rachel Maddow accidentally did a story which was utterly honest and valid, it would deserve to be told.

It really isn’t that hard to avoid the confusion in this regard. Ignore the personality, focus on the facts.
