Father of fallen Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods: I do not appreciate cowardice, lies

posted at 3:21 pm on October 26, 2012 by Mary Katharine Ham

From Megyn Kelly’s “America Live” today, Charlie Woods, who lost his son in the attack on the Benghazi consulate, reacts to the latest news that CIA command refused to send help. Speaking very calmly, Woods said his son deserves the same moral courage from the country’s leaders that he displayed in giving his life to save his fellow Americans:

“This is not about politics … if it were about politics, it would dishonor my son’s death. It’s about honor, integrity and justice,” he said.

“This news that he disobeyed his orders does not surprise me. My son was an American hero, and he had the moral strength to do what was right … even if it would have professionally cost him his job, even if it would have cost him his life.”

Woods went on to say that while he forgives those who gave the orders that indirectly led to his son’s death, he wishes they would take a lesson from the young former SEAL’s courage.

The interview speaks for itself, so I’ll let it. I honor Tyrone Woods’ sacrifice, and after hearing his father speak, I’m not surprised he raised a hero.

Nixon wasn’t impeached because Republicans demanded that he resign. Unfortunately, you’ll never see Democrats do that to one of their own.

Here is what I think happened.

Obama and Panetta and Clinton ass-umed the attackers would kidnap Stevens and hold him for ransom, upon which he could be bought back with minimal people dying.

Problem is the attackers intended to kill Stevens from the start.

Our leaders where to chicken to fight back, hoping the bad guys would play nice, and now they have to answer for their cowardice.

I’m calling you out Obama, Panetta, and Clinton. You’re all cowards, and you have no honor.

“Blackfive: A US Troop Would Not Have Been Painting a Target Unless There Was a Spectre or Armed Predator In the Air to Fire On It

Now that he points this out, it’s obvious– a laser designator isn’t a weapon. It’s a designator which a flying weapons platform sees and then strikes.

A SEAL wouldn’t just be pointing a laser designator at a target for shits and giggles. If there were no platform in the air that could fire on the target, he wouldn’t be pointing a laser designator at the target. He’d be pointing a gun.

So there was almost certainly a platform capable of firing the weapon in the air….

And further: At that point, only two men would have been in a position to veto the strike.

The AFRICON command, or the President.

Rush has an interview with a Special Operations planner who says that in an in extremis situation, as the attack on Libya was, the good guys would not have needed an explicit order to protect US personnel. Their standing general orders to protect US citizens and personnel would have already enabled them to act, absent a contrary order.

Only a negative order would have stopped them.

The Rush interview is well worth listening to. The guy calling in is obviously what he claims to be (unless he’s some kind of virtuouso faker who can fluently explain details of Special Operations planning and protocols). -Ace

Even so, my understanding is disobeying an order is not what got him killed.

He was ordered not to help rescue Stevens and other diplomatic personnel at the consulate. He tried anyway and managed to rescue several people. He brought them to the annex which also came under spontaneous protest terrorist assault. That’s where he was killed several hours later, while defending the annex from the spontaneous protest terrorist assault.

This isn’t a SNAFU. This is damned downright dirty cowardice on the part of our islam-loving chief executive and his criminal cartel of yes men.

Woods and the others did exactly what they were in Libya to do…ultimately pleading for support against a radical islamer attack that was initially going on a mile away at the Consulate…but they ended up being betrayed by a cowardly president…who obviously put gaining points with his crazy radical islamers over maintaining the safety of his countrymen who were obviously up to their ashes in crazed moslem bad guys.

Obama denied these men the minimal support that they could have gotten from (1) 2 drones on the scene, and (2) an AC-130 Gunship that could have wasted the moslem mortar crews that were causing havoc at both U.S. facilities.

Another heroic dude at the CIA “safe house” pinpointed the mortar crews which could have been instantly churned into dog food by either an armed drone and it’s missiles, or the guns on the AC-130, which was also on the scene a bit later in the fray.

NO…some political hack, most likely the cowardly appeaser in the Oval Office, or White House Situation Room, was afraid, probably terrified, to order the assets on the scene, ground and air, to kill the damned moslem nut-jobs.

No. There is only one cowardly ***hole responsible for the deaths of these fine, brave American security dudes. It is Barack Hussein Mohammed Obama – the best man that al-Queda has in the White House.

In all of this, one point stands out. That the National Command Authority failed. At every chance, to do the right and proper course of action, somebody looked the other way, passed the buck upward, or walked. At the beginning I knew that this was bad, and was going to get really ugly real fast. I will tell you, the contempt for the President and his team(including the Sec. of Defense and Director of National Intelligence, and the Director of Central Intelligence, and of course the Sec. of State) is at in all time high. Neither Generals Ham nor Mathis would ever leave a man behind. Both would move heaven and earth to get the NCA to act. That both COs of major commands were denied, speaks volumes. After the election, all will come out, and when it does……

Right. This needs to marinate and stew in its own juices for awhile.

Obama has yet to receive a visit from the ghost of Nixon past, but that should be in the next week. Waiting right behind him is the ghost of Romney present, scheduled to visit the night of Nov. 6. But by then it will be too late. This will be followed by the ghost of Jimmah future every night for years after that.

I’m all out of metaphors for now.

Sen. Lindsey Graham Paraphrasing Obama’s remarks about Mitt Romney to Rolling Stone, Graham said, “In the words of President Obama, this statement sounds like a lot of B.S.”

“In an effort to look strong, this Administration has strategically leaked classified information about numerous sensitive national security programs, ranging from the raid on bin Laden, the cyber-attacks on Iran, to disrupting the underwear bomber plot. The President has also refused to appoint a special counsel to investigate breaches of national security, while demanding it for others in past administrations,” Graham continued.

“These leaks have created distrust amongst our allies and damaged operations in the field. Fearful that the reality on the ground in Benghazi cuts against the narrative that al-Qaeda has been dismantled, the Administration has been cherry-picking intelligence and intentionally misleading the American people. There was no mob, there was no riot. This was a preplanned attack by al-Qaeda affiliated militia.”

The senator noted he’s been waiting nearly two weeks for any scrap of requested information on the attacks from top intelligence officials.

“The President promised transparency, an unveiling of details regarding the Benghazi attack, but they have done nothing but stonewall the American people and their elected representatives,” Graham said.

And that’s true on a number of levels. When an ambassador is in peril, a person who directly represents the President, the only person who can call off standing orders of the military (to save Americans in peril) is POTUS, and particularly if the standing orders involve entry into a foreign country. That is why he and Panetta met at 5 pm on 9/11, and obviously help was denied at that time.

The CIA, in other words, had no jurisdiction to call off the help that was requested, so Petraeus has thrown Obama under the bus, and very obviously so.

The mortars, which were illuminated by the drone were targeted on the annex and according to the info at AoS (and Rush) could have been taken out. Moreover, it seems to have been established that it’s virtually certain that the purpose of Obama’s 5pm meeting would have been to make that decision.

“This news that he disobeyed his orders does not surprise me. My son was an American hero, and he had the moral strength to do what was right … even if it would have professionally cost him his job, even if it would have cost him his life.”

On Fox last night, someone said Tyrone Woods saved a lot of people over that evening, and as his dad says it makes him an American hero, with Jennifer Griffin saying the same. The statement is still blurry to me, I hope Fox gets more of the journalism done in updating their special so we know how many were going to be left behind that night.

Why pay for airplanes that can “land on ships” (Potus) and take off again, why send anyone to a dangerous country like Libya and then tell them they will have to defend themselves and that the forces will politely Stand Down if you have trouble?

I continue to speculate in the lack of information forthcoming on this Assasination of our American Ambassador in Libya on the Anniversay of 9-11.

Anyone seen Navy report they just replaced our Admiral in charge for ME Fleet for undisclosed reasons and pending “investigation”. The only bit they provided is that he “made inappropriate decision”.

I am almost willing to bet this is somehow tied to Benghazi, may be an attempt ti silence one more source who most likely not only watched Benghazi in real time with the rest of the crooks, but probably wanted to do something about the attack that did not fit with Hussein’s plans. Would be interesting to see Fox News interview the Admiral.

When you look at the strength, courage, and integrity that Tyrone Woods showed when he was defending the consulate against the jihadi assault, the first thought is to wonder “where does our country get heroes such as this?”

Then, once you hear his dad speak, you realize that the apple did not fall very far from the tree.
