Father of SEAL killed in Benghazi: Hillary told me, “We will make sure that the person who made that film is arrested and prosecuted”

posted at 9:46 pm on October 25, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Glenn Beck, the bit about Hillary comes at the start of the second clip but both are worth listening to as an insight into how O, Biden, and Clinton allegedly operate in semi-private circumstances. The awkward “cueballs” line from Biden rings especially true, although I think he meant it as a compliment in his own oafish, hey-hiya-howareya way. With all due respect to Beck and Mr. Woods, though, I find Hillary’s comment about the movie significant for reasons different than they do. They seem to take it as evidence of a lie. She was pretending that the movie was to blame when we now know that the White House was tipped off to a terrorist connection in the earliest hours after the attack. Fair enough, but that gets back to the point I made last night: As far as I can tell, even now, the White House isn’t treating the “spontaneous outrage over a YouTube movie” and “organized terrorist attack” narratives as mutually exclusive. As recently as last week, long after the entire administration had finally gotten on board with the idea that this was in fact terrorism, the State Department was still looking at what role the Mohammed movie might have played in inspiring the attack. The going theory, I guess, is that the attackers seized on the uproar over the film elsewhere in the region as an incentive to hit the consulate in hopes of ingratiating themselves with people angry about the movie. That seems unlikely given how many people were involved and the sophistication of the weapons they used — there had to be some planning beforehand to pull this all together — but it beats the chump theory that none of this would have happened if jihadists’ delicate sensibilities hadn’t been inflamed. The assault on the embassy in Cairo pretty clearly used the movie as a pretext, to flex Islamists’ muscles; in theory, the attack on the consulate was a more vicious exercise towards the same end. As I said last night, The One and Hillary owe us a firm explanation on what their theory is.

What I found significant about this wasn’t the “movie protest” versus “preplanned attack” element, it was the fact that Hillary’s promise of vengeance to the father of a fallen SEAL wasn’t that we’d get the jihadis who killed him but that we’d punish the filmmaker. That’s perverse, but in keeping with the fact that she decided to run ads on Pakistani TV apologizing for the film while Islamist cretins menaced American diplomats across the region. Even if you give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she had no intention of prosecuting the filmmaker but was merely telling Woods something she thought would console him, why on earth would she zero in on the filmmaker as the target of blame instead of the degenerates who actually shot his son? She and O need to answer. Let’s see how much they really value free speech. Simple question for both: Is Woods a liar or not?

Or was there a small protest that was getting bigger and drawing the attention of really nefarious people in town who thought it was a great chance to attack? And Smith knew the security was a joke, which made him fearful?

The Pentagon is staying mum on why combat assets were not immediately sent to Benghazi, Libya, to aid the U.S. Consulate under attack by militants for hours on Sept. 11.

A spokesman said the Defense Department is cooperating with the State Department’s review by a blue-ribbon accountability panel.

From the moment at 9:40 p.m. local time (4:40 p.m. EDT) terrorists invaded and set fire to the four-building compound in Benghazi, messages were sent from Libya to the Obama administration describing the all-out assault.

The State Department later provided the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee a chronology of events during a hearing earlier this month.

The timeline did not include the arrival of any U.S. military combat units at the consulate to try to repel the attack or rescue survivors during the seven-hour assault.

The U.S. maintains a NATO naval air station at Sigonella, Sicily, about 480 miles across the Mediterranean from Benghazi. It is a logistics and communications hub, but at times has hosted Navy SEALs and jet fighters.

There are also special operations forces designated for North Africa.

Any military operations in Libya come under the control of U.S. Africa Command, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. Within the command is Special Operations Command-Africa. The Pentagon assigns the 10th Special Forces Group to Africa. Such groups typically include a “commander in-extremis force,” which can be dispatched in an emergency, such as the Benghazi attack.

A Pentagon spokesman declined to comment on whether any combat unit was considered for insertion into Benghazi.

“As for what forces we may have considered for use, we can’t get into those details,” the spokesman told The Washington Times.

“The Department of State is conducting a review of the attacks and the response to them. The DoD is supporting that review, and it would be inappropriate for us at this point to discuss the specific lay-down of forces while that review is ongoing,” the spokesman said.

A defense source said it is possible that Africa Command had no combat forces close enough to aid Americans at the consulate during the attack’s duration.

Charlene Lamb, who heads international programs for the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, told the House committee how her personnel had tried to protect the consulate.

Five State Department security officers were at the consulate, plus three members of the Libyan 17th February Brigade, who had a barracks there.

The small, combined force proved wholly inadequate to stop invaders who set fire to each building.
By 11 p.m., more brigade members arrived, but the situation remained chaotic, and they returned to their nearby annex. U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens could not be found.

The next morning, more security officers arrived from the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli. They then came under mortar fire. Libyan security forces arrived to organize a quick retreat in armored cars to the airport.

Stevens, another State Department official, and two former Navy SEALs died during the eight hours of attacks.

Special operations had maintained a unit at the embassy in Tripoli in the form of a site security team. But the State Department withdrew it a month before the Benghazi attack, despite the protests of its leader, Army Lt. Col. Andrew Wood.

Bing West, a former assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration, asked in a National Review article: Where was the U.S. military?

“Fighter jets could have been at Benghazi in an hour; the commandos inside three hours,” he wrote. “If the attackers were a mob, as the CIA wrongly speculated, then an F-18 in afterburner, roaring like a lion, would unnerve them. This procedure was applied often in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Conversely, if the attackers were terrorists, then the U.S. commandos would eliminate them. But no forces were dispatched from Sigonella.

“For our top leadership, with all the technological and military tools at their disposal, to have done nothing for seven hours was a joint civilian and military failure of initiative and nerve,” Mr. West wrote.”

If Hussein and his fellow jihadies keep talking about the video , no one will ask him why he removed the security and made sure they never got any security until the day these 4 Americans died ?
Hussein set them up to die .

He knew they would die. He made sure of that .
He was so confident that he stopped looking at his daily intelligence briefings a few days before 9/11 2012. He went to sleep when he was told the counsulate was under attack and the ambassador was missing.
He went partying when he was told that 4 Americans had died a brutal death a the hand of jhihadies.
Then when their remains came in, he was there with his speech, campaigning with 4 flag draped coffins as a backdrop.
It doesn’t matter what the reason was for the attack i Benghazi, what matters is that Hussein and Killary conspired to kill Americans , and hired muslims to do it.

The story that is lost in all of this…

… is the epic battle between a handful of Americans and hundreds of 7th Century savages, armed with Obowma’s “Lead from Behind” weapons paid for by American taxpayers, that raged on for nearly 7 hours.

But as our heroic Americans fought on, Obowma dithered, and as Commander in Chief went to sleep…

… When he awoke, 4 were dead, the last two, the Retired SEALs, in the last moments of the battle.

THAT is the story I want told…

THAT is the movie I want made.

0bama is lower than snail sh1t.

And as far as that look that Mr. Woods describes, I’ve seen that look before. It’s the same fixed, glassy stare that was in 0bama’s eyes when Romney was speaking during the last debate. He wasn’t listening to the person talking – they might as well have not been there at all. He was just staring. It was as if he was daydreaming about being somewhere else, probably enjoying a beer and a round of golf and cracking jokes about the person he’s facing, once their back is turned.

The riots in Cairo were inspired by the call to free the blind sheik. When I first heard of the Banghazi attack, and the Egyptian riots were in their third or forth day, there were 214,000 looks at the mohamed trailer. This was when we all started hearing about the movie. I followed the numbers daily. From the 214,000 (which was from June) it grew by an average of a MILLION a DAY as the United States govt publicized and promoted the movie.
The point is, nobody would have known about it but for our govts actions. A cynic would say “Why would we give day in and day out publicity and attention to a movie, that at that point hadnothing to do with anything.?” But it sure got a lot of attention afterwards.

U.S. Embassy warns Americans of jihad terror alert in Egypt
*************************************************************

Ah, the Arab Spring — what a wonderful flowering of democracy and pluralism! “US Embassy Warns Americans of Terror Alert in Egypt,” by

Chana Ya’ar for Israel National News, October 24:

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/161284#.UIjFI4WAGkg

The US Embassy has warned American citizens in Cairo to remain alert and be aware the diplomatic mission has “credible information” terrorists are “targeting female missionaries in Egypt.”

U.S. citizens were also told the “exercise vigilance, taking necessary precautions to maintain [their] personal security.”

The warning, issued Friday, advised U.S. citizens to keep their travel documents handy and make sure they are valid. It also reminded Americans to monitor the updated travel warnings and alerts on the website of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Last Friday, U.S. Representative Kay Granger (R-TX) vowed to block $450 million in U.S. foreign aid to Egypt in view of the unstable diplomatic relations between the two countries….

What I found significant about this wasn’t the “movie protest” versus “preplanned attack” element, it was the fact that Hillary’s promise of vengeance to the father of a fallen SEAL wasn’t that we’d get the jihadis who killed him but that we’d punish the filmmaker.

Another one of those stunning moments that clearly demonstrate the decline of Western civilization.

These have been all too common in recent years.

Sorta like 9/11 wasn’t “the day everything changed,” it was the day the world was shown how much everything had already changed. (h/t to Mark Steyn from America Alone)

The Secretary of State of the United States apologizing for Western free speech will, eventually, be remembered as a dark day for liberty. It is a vile, tragic marker on the timeline of societal doom.

Our freedoms are imperiled. There can be no doubting that now. The road to our serfdom has been paved, and we’ve traveled down it much farther than most care to realize.

Benghazi was not a consulate.

What cries out for further investigation — and debate in the remaining days of this presidential election — is whether this shipment was part of a larger covert Obama effort to transfer weapons to our enemies that could make the Iran-Contra scandal, to say nothing of Operation Fast and Furious, pale by comparison.

sadsushi on October 26, 2012 at 12:25 AM

The assault on the embassy in Cairo pretty clearly used the movie as a pretext, to flex Islamists’ muscles; in theory, the attack on the consulate was a more vicious exercise towards the same end. As I said last night, The One and Hillary owe us a firm explanation on what their theory is.

What they have in common: Mohammed Zawahiri of Egypt called for the Cairo embassy to be burned to the ground (ostensibly to force Blind Sheik’s release); At the same time his brother Ayman Al Zawahiri of 9/11 fame called for revenge against Al Libi in Benghazi (who had been killed by drone strike). These were clearly planned/coordinated by the two AQ bros.

To overcome this, she’s going to have to immediately leak the emails/cables proving that she asked for enhanced security in Benghazi and was denied/thwarted, if that’s true. Otherwise, she’s toast, forever. Shameful.

TXUS on October 25, 2012 at 10:03 PM

That still wouldn’t cut it as far as I’m concerned. If Hillary knew security needed to be bolstered in Libya and subsequently authorized additional protection for the mission outpost, I can’t think of any excusable reason for her to just stay quiet and go along once she found out her decision was overruled (if we ever find out this was the case). Hillary was either persuaded to change her original assessment or she just acquiesced and went along with having her determination reversed. American citizens in her charge, depended on her evaluation for their very lives…and if she had one ounce of decency she would not have remained silent if she did not agree with orders from above. It was time for her to speak out and do whatever was necessary to get those resources to Benghazi. Instead, she may have taken on the role of bystander, and her failure to shed light on a situation she knew was dangerous became a disgraceful and negligent option.
I’m finding the likelihood of a redeeming scenario for Hillary to be practically non-existent.

They sat there and watched for hours as these people died.
They were afraid to act.
They were afraid of the potential political consequences of a rescue mission.

If any competent military person of rank and honor was in that room with them (and there most certainly had to have been), they surely proposed a rescue attempt.
Which means that it was actively denied by a civilian or civilians of authority.

They sat there and watched because they were paralyzed by politics.
This was not incompetence.
This was an act of cowardice.

justltl on October 26, 2012 at 3:15 AM

Is the ACLU making a lot of noise about this? The guy might belong in jail, but this is a flagrant attack on civil liberties by the Obama regime.

Shouldn’t they round up everyone who mocks the “prophet”, or is it only a crime when the jihadis choose your incident of mockery to protest?

Buddahpundit on October 26, 2012 at 3:50 AM

Forget for a moment whether the observers in D.C. thought that it was a protest or a pre-planned attack as events actually unfolded in real time. Or whether events were inspired by a film or anything else for that matter.
In real time, that was all completely irrelevant- all that really mattered in real time was what they were doing to rescue the consulate personnel.

Who was aware of what was unfolding in real time?
What plans were being made to rescue the consulate personnel?
What plans were proposed?
What plans were approved or denied? And by whom?

This event didn’t happen over minutes. It happened over a period of hours. And during that time, no one knew how long any surviving consulate personnel were going to be able to hold out.

I keep running a figurative split screen video in my mind. On one side are the men battling for their comrades’ and their own lives. On the other side of the screen are the people in D.C. watching or listening at the same time.

justltl on October 26, 2012 at 3:59 AM

It seems to me the wrong questions are being asked – Two questions – where is the evidence that the YouTube video had anything to do with this? Where is the evidence that there was a protest? If they can’t produce this – it shuts down all the other bs arguments, excuses, etc.

Seven Percent Solution on October 25, 2012 at 10:49 PM

Exactly.

Read the transcript regarding the attack provided by State to all media (except Fox). Smith and Amb. Stevens died at the Consulate Building. The remaining Americans head to the CIA Annex:

At this point, the quick reaction security team and the Libyans, especially the Libyan forces, are saying, “We cannot stay here. It’s time to leave. We’ve got to leave. We can’t hold the perimeter.” So at that point, they make the decision to evacuate the compound and to head for the annex. The annex is about two kilometers away. My agents pile into an armored vehicle with the body of Sean, and they exit the main gate.

Apparently, the SEALS were killed at the CIA “Annex.”

As the night goes on, a team of reinforcements from Embassy Tripoli arrives by chartered aircraft at Benghazi airport and makes its way to the compound – to the annex, I should say. And I should have mentioned that the quick reaction – the quick reaction security team that was at the compound has also, in addition to my five agents, has also returned to the annex safely. The reinforcements from Tripoli are at the compound – at the annex. They take up their positions. And somewhere around 5:45 in the morning – sorry, somewhere around 4 o’clock in the morning – I have my timeline wrong – somewhere around 4 o’clock in the morning the annex takes mortar fire. It is precise and some of the mortar fire lands on the roof of the annex. It immediately killed two security personnel that are there, severely wounds one of the agents that’s come from the compound.

Then this shocker:

QUESTION: Hi, yes. You described several incidents you had with groups of men, armed men. What in all of these events that you’ve described led officials to believe for the first several days that this was prompted by protests against the video?

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL TWO: That is a question that you would have to ask others. That was not our conclusion. I’m not saying that we had a conclusion, but we outlined what happened. The Ambassador walked guests out around 8:30 or so, there was no one on the street at approximately 9:40, then there was the noise and then we saw on the cameras the – a large number of armed men assaulting the compound.

Read and re-read this timeline. Remember, while this was occurring in real time, the Commander in Chief was sleeping in a nice warm bed, resting up for his fundraising trip the next day to Vegas.

Protesters show up in the late morning to early afternoon so that they can be put on TV and seen.

They do not go out late at night armed with AKs, RPGs and mortars.

Plus, from what I’ve seen, the Cairo protest wasn’t about the movie but about the Blind Sheikh.

Blaming the movie is pushing the Islamist line to get speech against Islam turned into a crime… that garbage that is in the UN right now. Obama & Co. are trying to build a narrative to get that turned into ‘the new normal’ to help the MB as part of their Project to subvert the West. Why else put an MB associate in as the head of the team ‘investigating’ Benghazi?

ajacksonian on October 26, 2012 at 5:39 AM

Hillary and Zero are the ones who must be arrested and prosecuted.

Our people could have been saved.

“The assault on the embassy in Cairo pretty clearly used the movie as a pretext, to flex Islamists’ muscles…”

Sorry Allah,this is patentedly untrue!

The demonstration at the Embassy in Cairo, was initially called on the 30th of August, way BEFORE the “Mohammed Film” was available on the internet; and in fact, the US Embassy/State Department KNEW this!

They knew it because Egyptian Intelligence WARNED the US Embassy by the 03rd that the Demonstration was coming, that is why, on Sept 11th, the US Embassy was EMPTY of all non-essential personnel, when the demonstration took place!

“Indeed, evidence is emerging of the planning that went into both assaults, with USA Today reporting: “The protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was announced Aug. 30 by Jamaa Islamiya, a State Department-designated terrorist group, to protest the ongoing imprisonment of its spiritual leader, Sheikh Omar abdel Rahman. He is serving a life sentence in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.”

Dale in Atlanta on October 26, 2012 at 6:14 AM

Part II: the bottom line; the original call of the Cairo demonstration was by Al Qaeda linked Jihadis, freed from Egyptian prisons since the fall of Mubarak, was to flex their muscles on the 9/11 anniversary in front of the US Embassy, and to push Mohammed Morsi’s already stated goal of getting the “Blind Sheik” released from prison.

It was an act of intimidation and muscle flexing, and a thumb your nose type of thing as well; pure and simple.

The “Mohammed Film” became available on the Internet, or at least known about, a few days before the Cairo Embassy demonstration was to take place, and then became a convenient target of opportunity for the Jihadies to refocus the “anger” of the deomonstration onto something that they knew would magnify the rage…the film!

Simple question for both: Is Woods a liar or not?

Listen to the man and hear of how he sees himself and his late son.

If you cannot figure it out from that, then you need to listen to it again. He is not out for revenge… but to find out about why his son had to die like that and infuriated as he learns that he has been lied to by people willing to stare him directly in the face and lie. He is at peace with where his son is, but what was done after that… he just wants the truth. And that sword of truth only cuts one way amongst the crop of liars in front of him.

ajacksonian on October 26, 2012 at 7:36 AM

Your powers of reasoning and logic in the political arena need some fine tuning.

Obama and Clinton went with the video narrative because they thought it was good cover for political failures.

Failures that start with failing to secure the embassy because it did not comport with their foreign policy narrative. That would be the one stating that Libya was safe, Al Qaeda was on the run and everyone in the Middle East was one step away from holding hands and having a Coke together.

Everything flows neatly from there, but gets diabolically worse. The President (because only he has such power) declined to act because it would expose these failures and be an admission those presumptions were foolish, naive and mendacious.

So while good men fought valiantly on the ground (which Mr. Obama knew from watching the drone feed), waiting for help (because we had assets that could have been used), Mr. Gutsy Call went to sleep…and then to Vegas. While they were dying.

Now they have no choice but to mix the narratives due to the proof coming out(it was an attack and a video) in order to state it was the “fog of war” and both explanations were offered at the time, etc.

They hope this will confuse people or at least get them through the election. But it won’t.

Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton are both complicit in the murders of my four countrymen. They let those men died and offered them no assistance either before or during the attack. Then they tried to continue their foolishness by pushing political fallacies with grieving families.

If for one reason and one reason alone Mr. Obama should lose the election- it is this. And may he spend the rest of his days thinking about how he failed in his duty to save brave men who had more honor than he ever will.

RIP.

Also know that they had at least one day’s warning from Ayman Al Zawahiri. Buy Danish on October 26, 2012 at 8:16 AM

Ya know, this puts the lie to the whole “Romney and Ryan are politicizing an internal matter” as being out of bounds.

The guy, not a member of the government, made a video. It’s not the government’s job to say or do anything about that, unless specific laws were broken in the making of the video.

But the state department apologized for the video hours before the protest in Cairo. It’s the state that rejected that this was a private matter and made it some matter of public policy–and then to promise as a result to prosecute the guy for exercising his first amendment rights?!?!

The Republicans are “politicizing” a matter of policy , something that the president is involved in when they get to be president. The Congress is investigating 1) an attack on American soil and possible bad decisions leaving American personnel vulnerable.

To make this out of bounds, while promising to prosecute an act of speech is worse that hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is in the rear-view mirror. This is unprincipled hubris!

What’s worse is that the American people have been numbed by the media to just accept anything that they are told with a reassuring enough tone or a dismissive laugh indicating that the other idea is farcical. There is no up or down in this world, it’s just people floating around. It’s created a kind of politician-friendly world, where anything can be anything. Lies can be unforgivable sins or they can actually be a good thing, costly mistakes can be “not so bad”. They can talk about reducing the cost of government without end but without the “crimes against the people” of actually cutting anything anybody receives from the government.

It is the mind of the liberal to try to influence us by media, so the two powers, media and politics become one. I think now I made a mistake in counting the media “pro-lib”, because they could just be pro-politician-who-is-pro-media-influencing-politics, while the libs are pro-media-which-influences-people’s-politics-to-pro-media-politicians. In a way it’s kind of like the toy-commercial cartoons. Do the toys promote the media event or does the media event promote the toys?

Dems were influenced by Alinsky. Alinsky-style politics can only work in a media-heavy world. Alinsky actually mutates the political message for effect in media. The result makes exaggerations and overstatements for effect among the voters through media, and then the gatekeepers of the media are effectively empowered to the extent that they can steer and tune the message.

It is the Scientific nihilists like Bernays that gave up on the idea of community and first saw people as weights to maneuver in a game of tilting the scales of a representational democracy. Face it the media is sort of anti-represenatational. So anti-representationalists and the people in media who want power band together. That way the media achieves more power and the anti-representationalists get that enhanced conduit to further override the parochial and varied interests of the people.

Libs are mainly people who have embraced their Master Media and actually feel liberated by this techno-fascism. The people on the right dig their feet in insisting that the media really shouldn’t be the message.

I was watching that same comment, and have been scouring the internet for who made it.

I think he also said during the same interview that he and his fellow commanders were receiving reports in real time of what was going on during the attack through some type of special communications system these soldiers/commanders have “worldwide”, sort of like a military 9/11. And, that he was outraged that nothing was being done in D.C.
