Well Obama earned that, it wasn’t given to him by his father. If it was, his brother wouldn’t be starving. Obama fought his way to the top.

Trump will announce that Obama used to deal crack, and Obama will gain a good 3-5% in the national polls from the Ron Paul/Gary “Gary Johnson” Johnson crowd. Let’s face it – people relate to the guy. If Romney was an effective campaigner, he’d pre-empt Obama by mentioning offhandedly that he almost OD’d on heroin once in the 90′s and woke up the next day underneath Courtney Love in a pool of his own vomit and urine during his next stump speech. He could at least show up at a campaign rally riding a Harley with a naked chick airbrushed on to the fuel tank, but he won’t do any of the that because he doesn’t understand how to connect with the average American.

If 25% of the population is undecided or persuadable in late September, by mid October that number is down to ten, and by late October you’re down to five.

Not only that, but because of early voting any last minute surprises have a blunted effect. Let me put it to you this way, the Bush DUI revelations revealed late in the 2000 race, is considered one of the most effective October Surprises in recent history.

It cost Bush about 2-3% of his support. Yeah, even the most effective October Surprises wasn’t particularly effective.

This was at a time when early voting was non-existent, outside of absentee voting that is. Now a very large fraction of voting is done well before election day, and while this may not make up the bulk of the potentially persuadable voters, it never the less greatly reduces the potential impact of any October surprises.

This, is why the Obama campaign threw every bit of dirt and filth they had at Romney, BEFORE early voting started. They knew that late surprises wouldn’t have the effect they once had, so they tried to put it all on the table before any voting started.

So, no, I really don’t think Obama really HAS two weeks left. Anything that happens in the final week probably isn’t going to make much of a difference. So if the Obama campaign wants to turn things around, they’ve gotta do something now.
