Christie: If Obama can’t change DC, then “what the hell is he doing asking for another four years?”

posted at 4:01 pm on October 22, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

As wary as I am of speaking too soon, as a lifelong Virginia resident, I’m starting to get a creeping (though completely nonscientific) feeling in my gut that the commonwealth is starting to lean towards Mitt Romney. Nevertheless, Virginia tends to top the list of crucial swing states still in the battleground running, so I think it was a pretty wise decision to deploy one of the GOP’s most popular surrogates to Richmond, Virginia to stump for Romney over the weekend. Why? Because nobody can get people fired up quite like this guy can. Boom, via the Washington Examiner:

You may not know this, but the president loves me. He really does. He loves watching me on TV. He loves the stuff I say, he loves me. And so, since he loves me, I want to help the president. … You’ve been living inside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the last four years. If you don’t think you can change Washington from inside the White House, then let’s give you the plane ticket back to Chicago you’ve earned. I mean, that is a scary thing for the President of the United States to say, isn’t it? … It shows his arrogance. See, ’cause if he really believes that, if he believes that, then what the hell is he doing asking for another four years? You can’t just Washington, D.C. from the inside? That’s fine, we’re happy to give you a bus ticket to the outside, Mr. President. … What he’s saying is, ‘It’s not my fault. … It’s G.W. Bush’s fault, it’s Dick Cheney’s fault, it’s big oil’s fault, it’s the coal company’s fault, it’s the gas company’s fault, it’s the fault of the Republicans in Congress… For God’s sake, it’s anybody’s fault but mine,’ he says. ‘Please, give me another four years, and I will figure it out.’ You know what, Mr. President? I am tired of waiting for you to figure it out. …He doesn’t know anything about leading. He’s never led anything in his life. Until we made him president of the United States, he’s never led anything in his life. … Blindly walking around the White House, looking for a clue. …

So. Much. Truth. If you have four minutes, I recommend watching the full clip; there’s just something about Christie’s unapologetic, bombastic manner that acts like a balm for my Democratic-talking-point-battered soul. Somehow, I feel like we’ve all already given more attention to “Big Bird” and “binders” than we did to President Obama’s “you can’t change Washington from the inside” comment, but as Christie reminds us, it was a poignant omission of just how much on-the-job-training the president has tried — and failed — to acquire.

Good question. Christie is so obvious.

Obama could blame Bush and Boehner for another 4.

Out with the charlatanic Utopian destroyer. No such hoax/pox upon the land s/b repeated. If it does, the people deserve full destruction, for stupidity alone.

Darned right. Christie can really lay it out there.

Oh, how I wish this guy was a real conservative.

He’ll go to Hollywood this Wed. and to Las Vegas too.

Nobody knows what The Misfit Commie meant, except for DWS. Since she nailed it in the other thread i.e. that Romney’s foreign policy would connote cowboy justice – but – DWS: I’m saying I have no idea, because he has not made it clear.

It all depends on her interpretation.

Forward, Comrades … on to Utopia.

Unless DWS says otherwise.

Blindly walking around the White House, looking for a clue. …

That clue Obama is desperately looking for was hidden inside the bust of Winston Churchill he gave back to the British.

Now, he’s clueless.

Good to hear. The wife and I will be voting this weekend. Probably at Cinco Ranch Library in Katy(we live in Fort Bend County).

BTW, why the hell didn’t Christie give a speech like that in Tampa?!

The clues were cleverly concealed in the Security Briefings. One per day. Diabolical, no? Who would have EVER thought of looking there?

Two things ocurred to me as I watched this:

The blind leading the blind. “Woe unto you, ye blind guides”

And the American people want to be led. “Nay; but we will have a king over us”

If that’s true, it’s too, too bad.

As much good as the Big Guy is doing as a surrogate, I wish he stayed in New Jersey all the way until 2017 and beyond. He can achieve things in our bluer-than-sky state that no other governor can. If he leaves to work for President Romney, we’ll likely be stuck with Cory Booker. He’s not a bad guy as Democrats go, but he’s still a Democrat.

Just another coupla’ weeks. He isn’t going to DC to be anything in an R administration, at least not now. He’ll run again in ’16–whether or not fellow jerseyans reelect him–who knows at that point. As an aside, while I don’t agree with him on many points, at least the increase in our property taxes/year has been cut in half, and here (Passaic Cty., that’s a huge thing.) I also agree, while Booker isn’t a ‘bad guy,’ he’s a jersey dem.
