Portman: Iran story looks like “another national security leak from the White House”

posted at 4:01 pm on October 21, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

It was only a few months back that there was plenty of hearty suspicion going around concerning the White House’s involvement in a specific string of high-profile national-security leaks to the media, and on MSNBC’s Meet the Press this morning, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman suggested something of the same vein in regards to yesterday’s report on possible negotiations between Iran and the United States, via the NJ:

Portman, R-Ohio, said that the fact both countries are denying the story makes it look like another inappropriate leak from the administration rather than a diplomatic breakthrough.

It looks like “another national security leak from the White House,” he said on NBC’s Meet The Press. “They’ve done a lot of that.” …

Portman added that one-on-one negotiations would also be unwise because it would cast aside countries like France, which have helped marshal sanctions.

“The last thing we want is to abandon our allies on this,” he said.

I point to Portman’s response because he’s the man who’s been tasked with trying to get inside President Obama’s head as Mitt Romney’s debate-practice sparring partner, and since he’s been so heavily involved in the preparation process, this could be a good hint for the tack that Romney will take in Monday’s third and final presidential debate on all things foreign-policy related.

Team Romney has been highly critical of both President Obama’s leak-riddled administration and his handling of the United States’ relationships with Israel and Iran, and it’ll certainly be one of the front-seat issues in the debate. If this is really something that the administration floated to help bolster the president’s foreign-policy creds just before the debate and perhaps something that the president could even bring up himself as a positive during the debate, I’d wager that Romney won’t let it be too easy for him.

Please guys. you could see it was a trial balloon, a mile away! They thought they could get some good press, but when the New Treason Times took all the heat, they immediately threw the Obama campaign staffer, I’ll laughingly refer to as a reporter/media, under the bus! Yea, the Obama regime will say it was just Journalistic malpractice and in true Obama campaign form… Who you gonna believe? Me or your lying eyes & ears?

The GOP really needs to choose if this is really a leak (meaning that there could actually be some US-Iran talks) or if there is no breakthrough at all (which would mean this is not a leak). Confusing…

This entire topic is a diversion from the Benghazi flames and failures.

Obama’s foreign policies are in shambles, ME, N. Africa, the Arab ‘Spring’, Russia (see their latest test).

Romney should not ask Obama a single question. He should only make statements. He should tell Obama to explain to the American people what he meant by whispering to Medvedev when the mic was on.

Romney must wear a red tie at the 3rd debate.

I don’t mean to ambush this thread, but the message here is of consequence. It also ties in to the administration’s suppression of the military vote (referenced in The Headlines).

Give yourself a half of an hour to listen to Trevor Loudon’s “Message to America.”

His scholarly research on Obama and the tentacles of the Communist Party are chilling. The object of the nexus of the players from the 1940′s to the current day is to weaken our military.

The connections with Leon Panetta were an eye-opener to me. The other players– Franklin Marshall Davis and Valerie Jarrett– are known to most for their connections to Obama. More background is provided in this video.

Here’s a thought: they leaked this as a way to establish that Iran has refused final attempts at negotiation. Why? Obama plans to bomb Iran in first week of November, and this story helps prep it.

Crazy? What other options do they have?

Iran denies reports about agreement on direct talks with U.S.
On Line: 21 October 2012 17:47
In Print: Monday 22 October 2012
********************************

EHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has dismissed the news reports claiming that Iran has agreed to hold direct negotiations with the United States.

Salehi made the remarks in Tehran on Sunday during a joint press conference with Central African Republic Foreign Minister Antoine Gambi, in reply to a question about the fact that the New York Times, quoting unidentified U.S. administration officials, reported on Saturday that Iran and the U.S. had agreed in principle for the first time to one-on-one negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program after the U.S. presidential election, which is scheduled to be held on November 6.

The Iranian foreign minister said, “We are not responsible for responding to the news they publish, but there is no talk of negotiations with the United States.”

“We hold negotiations within the framework of the 5+1 group (talks),” he stated, referring to the negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) over the country’s nuclear program.

Tommy Vietor, a White House spokesman, also dismissed the New York Times report on Saturday, saying, “It’s not true that the United States and Iran have agreed to one-on-one talks or any meeting after the American elections.”

However, the U.S. administration is open to such talks and has “said from the outset that we would be prepared to meet bilaterally,” Vietor added.

That is an excellent summary of hinky “coincidences” all wrapped up in a good video. The only person missing from that wrap-up is Alice Palmer, a Communist who opened a lot of doors for Obama.

Loudon’s video goes back to the ’40′s to show how deeply embedded the Communist propaganda machine was working to destabilize America, especially its military and national security through “peace” movements.

Biden already established that the impeccable intelligence agencies will tell us when Iran weaponizes a nuke. Then and only then will we take action on Iran. I think there will be military action in Libya, where the impeccable intelligence agencies supposedly couldn’t tell us AQ was lurking in Benghazi.

Obama briefed on Wisconsin shooting

10/21/12 5:06 PM

Statement from White House press secretary Jay Carney:

“The President was informed of the tragic shooting in Wisconsin earlier today at 1:30pm EDT by his Advisor for Homeland Security, John Brennan.

At 2:30pm EDT, the President received a follow-up briefing from FBI Director Bob Mueller, his Chief of Staff, Jack Lew, and Advisor for Homeland Security John Brennan. The President was told there was an active shooter in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The President was informed that the shooting did not appear to be terrorism-related. The FBI is on the scene and is supporting the Brookfield, Wisconsin police department while they respond to the on-going situation. The President instructed the FBI to ensure that the state and local officials had the full support of the Federal government.

The President and First Lady’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrible shooting and their families.”

Americans know more about baby Trigg’s genetics than we know about the people who have been plotting to destroy our country for decades.

The one and only point Romney should make on this issue is that Iran, a sworn enemy of the United States, would prefer to have the President re-elected. And that begs the question: why?

Dang! I serious thought. Bombing Iran would show conservatives he’s serious about defending the US. It would be seen as a short-term action by his supporters. It would show he’s an ally of Israel. It would dominate the news cycle, swamping Romney and making him as after-thought in the evening news. It would ralley the nation around him as a President-during-war.

It would be like Clinton firing missiles into Afghanistan the night before (as I vaguely recollect it) the vote on his impeachment.

Democrats criticize Republican for leaking sensitive Libya papers

WASHINGTON | Sun Oct 21, 2012 3:12pm EDT

(Reuters) – The U.S. Senate’s number two Democrat and others in his party criticized a Republican House of Representatives committee chairman on Sunday for releasing government documents related to last month’s violent attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

Senator Richard Durbin charged that Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, had politicized the Benghazi events during a presidential election campaign, in particular by releasing sensitive papers with the names of Libyans who have worked with the United States.

“This idea of Chairman Issa, that he’s going to dump the names in public of Libyans who are risking their lives to support America and keep us safe in an effort to get a political toehold in this election is unconscionable. It is unacceptable,” Durbin, the Senate’s Democratic whip, told “Fox News Sunday.”

David Axelrod, a campaign adviser to President Barack Obama, also blasted Issa, charging it was “disgraceful” that he had released government papers “to score political points in the final weeks before an election.”

Issa released 166 pages of unclassified memos, diplomatic cables and other government documents related to the Benghazi mission on Friday as part of his committee’s investigation of the attack in the eastern Libyan city. The papers were not classified, but some were diplomatic communications marked “sensitive.”

The documents showed that U.S. officials in Libya sought more security resources for what they hoped would be a permanent American presence in Benghazi before the mission was attacked.

Yeah right – except you forgot who is in charge. Since when did Owe ever worry about: the law, the American people, or our allies?

I predicted to a friend days ago that Owe would not show up to tomorrow’s debate. I suggested that something that will be said to affect national security (bomb Syria, bomb Libya, Israel bombing Iran with US blessings, etc.) will happen.

After all, who in Owe’s position would attend that debate?
