Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:01 am on October 15, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

On Friday, the day after the VP debate, the media wanted to know why Joe Biden claimed that the administration never knew about the requests for additional security from our diplomatic mission in Libya. They wanted to know why one State Department security expert described the difficulty dealing with State as “the Taliban [being] inside the building.” People wanted answers to questions about why the White House hadn’t kept tabs on a situation in Benghazi and eastern Libya that Barack Obama in large part created with his unilateral decision to apply military force to decapitate the Qaddafi regime without having any plan to keep the radical Islamist terror networks from taking advantage of the situation — including our enemy of war, al-Qaeda.

Unfortunately, the only person answering those questions was Jay Carney. Where was President Obama? As Jake Tapper reports, Obama was answering the tough questions in Miami about, er, a feud between two hip-hop artists:

President Obama appeared on the Miami radio station Y100 Friday,  where he weighed in on the Mariah Carey v. Nicki Minaj feud, was asked whether Vice President Joe Biden should shave his head to look more authoritative, and said he should have brought up Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” video tape during the presidential debate because “the media’s attention span is fairly short.”

“The media’s attention span is fairly short,” says the man whose idea of “media” this days is this:

The president spoke with DJ Michael “Yo” Simmons, the self-billed “Half-Black Brother with a Korean Mother” who also does stand-up and serves as a celebrity correspondent on E! News.

In this case, Obama picked the right man for the interview.  He’s a lot more of a celebrity than a leader, as he proved on Friday — when America needed a leader to answer those questions that Jay Carney was dodging.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

I’d like to see a debate question posed as to how Obama would handle the Libya issue if he were running against the incumbent. Get ready for a whole stutter, stammer and uh tape on that answer alone.

CitizenEgg on October 15, 2012 at 8:26 AM

Well? What was the verdict? Should Biden shave his head???? Saving Muppets, Biden’s hair style, slow jamming public policy discussions. This is the depth of the current President.

I loved the spin on Fox News Sunday when Chris Wallace asked Axlerod if maybe Obama should have met with his National Security Council instead of going off to fundraising parties in Vegas. Axlerod’s response that he “was in contact” with everybody he needed to be in contact with was lame and Wallace let him have it.

Bottom line we have serious problems and a very unserious President. If you think he is really toiling away in Williamsburg prepping for tomorrow’s debate than you are as delusional as the idiots that still support this rat-eared empty suit.

BTW, it’s funny how in the first debate, the young guy was dazed & out of it, while the old guy was energetic & sharp.
In the second debate, the young guy was mature & respectful, while the old guy was immature & disrespectful.

Why go with the hypothetical. The rat-eared coward is the incumbent. Ask him what he would do differently. Ask him how his administration failed in keeping those personnel safe in Benghazi. Ask him how they could have concluded that it was a protest run amok when Susan Rice went on six Sunday Talk shows when, under oath, when State has admitted they had near real-time communication with the consulate DURING the attack.

“Mr President, four years ago we hired a new baseball coach who was going to revamp the program. While the team’s number of losses were 25, 22, 23, and 19 respectively, they still finished last in the conference every year. Could you explain why we should allow this coach to keep his job for another four years?”

Nicki Minaj feud, was asked whether Vice President Joe Biden should shave his head to look more authoritative, and said he should have brought up Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” video tape during the presidential debate because “the media’s attention span is fairly short.”

Mr. Obama took a break Sunday from studying and engaging in mock sessions with his staff at a five-star waterfront resort here to deliver pizzas to one of his nearby campaign offices and make a couple phone calls to supporters, just as he did while preparing for his first debate in Henderson, Nev., two weeks ago.

“If you’re not on the phone take a break,” Mr. Obama said quietly as he entered a room where campaign staffers were making phone calls.

He then took a seat between two women and picked up the phone. “I’m gonna do my work,” he said, adding: “Everybody’s so serious!” Source

“That’s a bunch of marlarkey.”

katablog.com on October 15, 2012 at 10:09 AM

People wanted answers to questions about why the White House hadn’t kept tabs on a situation in Benghazi and eastern Libya that Barack Obama in large part created with his unilateral decision to apply military force to decapitate the Qaddafi regime without having any plan to keep the radical Islamist terror networks from taking advantage of the situation — including our enemy of war, al-Qaeda.

Here we are, a nation (“people wanted answers…”) having to put questions like that out in the public discourse from an Executive Branch.

Think about that: we are asking for “answers” from a bunch of other people who are not even providing an adequate response on such grave, profoundly serious issues as the above.

The behavior by the Obama Administration (and that certainly INCLUDES Hillary Clinton despite her lingering cheerleaders to the contrary) (as it also does her underlings in that DoS) (as it also includes the various Leftmedia who are readily complicit with them on this as with other problematic information) is horrible. Just horrible. That a nation has to ASK for “answers” like this is terrible, way behond tolerable.

This arrogance and cruelty by the Left in govt. today is now prevalent throughout federal and state (and even local) employees as to our nation’s popuation: we’re there to be subjected to whatever whenever for whatever reason without them being held accountable, as in, providing “answers” to the people.

I see this awful change in presumptuous, arrogant attitude lately in all areas of public employess. I assume they’re all “supervised” and their general antisocial attitude toward the public is instructed, required and/or otherwise inspired by those who are their superiors. The buck doesn’t stop with Obama, the buck seems to have been slipped into his pocket and walked out of the building.

Employee performance review time…

Boss: I’m looking at your goals, and I don’t see much upon which to compliment your work.

Employee: I’m doing the best I can with the resources available to me.

Boss: Look, when I hired you, you assured me that you could handle everything and improve productivity. Nothing is better since you’ve arrived.

Employee: The original assessment of the problems very seriously underestimated the work it would take to correct. Also, while things haven’t quite started improving yet, they would be much worse if left as they were.

Boss: Would you care to elaborate on exactly what measures have been taken to support what you’re telling me? These goals are measurable, and actions you claim in support of them must be as well.

Employee: Measurable actions? For starters, I raised air pollution standards, increased restrictions on coal production, subsidized green energy companies, supported popular uprisings in Egypt and Libya which ended two long-standing regimes that didn’t comply with U.N. human rights provisions, bin Laden is dead, and I passed a law requiring every American to purchase health insurance.

Boss: Yes, those are measurable actions. Let’s check the results of those actions…

Tightening regulations on industry during an economic downturn completely stalls any chance at a recovery.

Spending taxpayer money which might have mitigated a tiny portion of the deficit, much less the debt, on a bad gamble in wind and solar power has accomplished nothing but make money disappear into the pockets of your friends.

Helping oust the Mubarak and Qaddafi regimes without taking followup action to guide the aftermath, left power vacuums in those two nations which were then filled by worse enemies than their predecessors ever were. And ultimately resulted in the murder of a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.

ObamaCare, long before it has even taken effect, has already resulted in the closure of more than three dozen medical care facilities, the departure from the medical profession of more than 2,000 physicians, nurses and other care providers, the “restructuring” of hundreds of corporate health care programs nationwide, and the increase, in spite of your words, of costs of all the above.

Osama is indeed dead. I see you were pulled from a round of golf and forced to make a call that you had avoided on three other occasions. Still, it is a positive.

Boss: So, how do you think you’ve done?

Employee: Uhh…

Boss: Well?

Employee: Headwinds. Road Bumps. Bush. Bitter Clingers. Republican Congress. Worst economy ever.

Boss: I’m not asking you what difficulties you faced. As I said when we started, you promised results. All I’ve gotten so far is more unemployment, higher prices, increased spending, massive deficits, global unrest, and your excuses. So, how do you think you’ve done?

Employee: Bin Laden is dead!

Boss: Your laptop and ID badge stay here. Go visit building services for boxes on your way to HR for your exit interview.
