Carney: Biden was obviously talking about the president, himself, and the WH, not the entire administration

posted at 2:41 pm on October 12, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

For as much as Joe Biden tried to go after Paul Ryan for supposed “loose talk” and blustering about a “bunch of stuff,” Biden really stuck his foot in his mouth — and then some — when he tried to parry Ryan’s accusations about the administration’s handling of additional security requests from Libya, he claiming that, “We did not know they wanted more security there.” …Uh huh. As Ed already handily summarized, according to a House hearing earlier this weekend, that seems to contradict testimony from the State Department, and even if it is true, that would reflect a disturbing level of incompetence on the part of the White House.

It was up to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney to spin that into something less damaging at the press briefing this morning, and the best he could come up with seems to be that Biden was merely speaking for the upper echelons of the White House and the president and himself personally; Biden clearly didn’t mean the entire administration, or something. Via BuzzFeed:

The vice president was speaking about himself and the president, and the White House. He was not referring to the administration, clearly, since there was a public hearing for four-and-a-half hours where it was discussed openly by individuals working at the State Department, requests that were made. Obviously, he was referring to, he wasn’t talking about the administration writ large, he was speaking about the president, himself, and the White House.

The only thing “obvious” to me is that the White House is still trying to defend their not-at-all-political continuing attempts to chalk the attacks up to outrage over a video when they clearly knew otherwise, and the “administration’s” ongoing inability to get their story straight. And even if the president and Biden himself didn’t know about it, so what? Obama has still put together an administration that can’t or won’t adequately deal with repeated security concerns. As Gingrich noted this morning, the American people would be forgiven for developing some trust issues here.

Paul-Cincy on October 12, 2012 at 2:46 PM

So if we’re to assume that Bite Me and Obama didn’t know, then that means that:

A) They’re grossly incompetent to the point where they’re putting people’s lives in danger.

B) Hillary is grossly incompetent as well to not make sure they’re made aware of the security requests.

Sure makes me feel safe about our national security to have this bunch in charge. And BTW, I actually think Bite Me was probably telling the truth about this last night. With all the intelligence briefings skipped by Barry, he probably didn’t have a clue what was going on in Libya.

Hillary Goes Under the Bus… White Blames State Dept. For Benghazi Failures

The White House said Biden and Obama were never made aware of requests for more security in Benghazi.
That puts the focus back on State.
Foreign Policy reported:

Vice President Joseph Biden speaks only for himself and President Barack Obama, and neither man was aware that U.S. officials in Libya had asked the State Department for more security before the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, a top White House official told The Cable.

Biden has come under fire for saying at Thursday night’s debate, “We weren’t told they wanted more security. We did not know they wanted more security there.”

The Cable asked Deputy National Security Advisor for Communications Ben Rhodes whether Biden was speaking for the entire Obama administration, including the State Department, which acknowledged receiving multiple requests for more Libya security in the months before the attacks. Rhodes said that Biden speaks only for himself and the president and neither of them knew about the requests at the time.

The State Department security officials who testified before House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s panel Wednesday never said they had made their requests to the president, Rhodes pointed out. That would be natural because the State Department is responsible for diplomatic security, not the White House, he said. Rhodes also pointed out that the officials were requesting more security in Tripoli, not Benghazi.

The Clinton’s to pull out the big guns and bring Obama down in 3…2…1…

Well, the Great Petraeus, Now Head of the CIA, told the House Intelligence Committee in no uncertain terms that it was the video, so I would think he told Obama and Biden and Clinton the same thing, unless he has very split tongue.

FoxNews: “Yet a congressional source told Fox News that CIA Director David Petraeus, during a briefing with members of the House Intelligence Committee three days after the attack, also espoused the view that Benghazi was an out-of-control demonstration prompted by the YouTube video. According to the source, this was “shocking” to some members who were present and saw the same intelligence pointing toward a terrorist attack.”

What happened to “the buck stops here”? Maybe if Obama had attended a few more intelligence briefings he would have gotten the message from State.

This means either one of two things:

1. The White House disregards, or doesn’t even bother to listen to, Executive Branch departments when they brief it on crucial, imminent, life threatening situations, which is a true crisis of leadership and frankly, should be grounds for impeachment. OR

2. The Executive Branch departments don’t bother to brief the White House on crucial, imminent, life threatening situations, in which case everyone from Hillary on down should be immediately terminated.

Pop Quiz. Who said this about what:

First, let me say I take full responsibility for my own actions and for those of my administration. As angry as I may be about activities undertaken without my knowledge, I am still accountable for those activities. As disappointed as I may be in some who served me, I’m still the one who must answer to the American people for this behavior.

Hey Obama, why not emulate a real leader.

Biden was obviously talking about the president, himself, and the WH, not the entire administration

Wow! And they say Biden is bad! This is like saying he was referring to the President, the Supreme Court and the Congress Of the United states NOT the entire U.S. Government!

Shrillary should have resigned as soon as the WH pushed her and her minions to repeat the “spontaneous protest over a video” lie, and thrown HIM under the bus. She would have retained at least a little cred, then.
Not that I’m all broke up about it, or anything.

Clearly… Obama couldn’t have known about requests for more Security by Libyan embassy because he didn’t bother to go to intel briefings

Obami-wan-kenobi: “These are not the administration officials you are looking for” *waves hand*

MSM repeats robotically: “These are not the administration officials we are looking for”

Obami-wan: “The Vice President can go about his business” *waves hand*

MSM: “He can go about his business”

Obamai-wan: “Move on to ‘Romney wants to starve babies and throw grandmas over cliffs’” *waves hand*

MSM: “Move along”

I guess that by Monday, someone somehow is going to have to resign, be fired, or watch their legacy burn to ashes…. or all of the above.

So … lemmee get this straight … the WH is responsible for killing bin Laden … but not responsible for letting Chris Stevens get killed.

Ok,

Ben Affleck finds David Petraeus remarkable, is buddies with Huma Abedin

VorDaj on October 12, 2012 at 3:05 PM

From the article :

Affleck explained why he invited his “good friend” Abedin, who in turn brought along her husband. “The reason why she is here, is she was instrumental in helping us shoot at the State Department,” Affleck said. “As you noticed, we shot at the real State Department … our production designers were allowed to go inside and look at the seventh floor and recreate it.”

What a shame, Jarret and Huma decide that White House and State Department are to be used as shooting locations for commercial purposes , and no one bats an eye !
