Team O: Which of Paul Ryan’s “highly misleading habits” will we see this evening?

posted at 6:36 pm on October 11, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Oh, honestly. Obama’s people are certainly putting out that message that Vice President Biden is “fired up and ready to go” for tonight’s debate, but clearly they felt the need to get in a few little preemptive jabs at his challenger Paul Ryan — could it be that they don’t have enough confidence in Biden’s abilities alone to get the job done? I found this video in my inbox in an e-mail from Stephanie Cutter and the Truth Team, imploring me to “share it with others” before tonight’s debate:

Puh-lease. Let’s not pretend that Obama & company doesn’t know anything about “the casual fib,” “tainted timeline gambits,” “flat-out falsehoods,” “the ‘math is a matter of opinion‘ technique,” the “‘get the heck out of dodge‘ dodge,” “the senior scare,” or the “discredited double-down” tactics.

And while this vid steers clear of using the term “liar” in reference to Ryan, it’s obviously what they’re implying. Whatever happened to Obama waging a campaign free of vitriol and personal attacks? Megyn Kelly put that question to Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt on America Live today — do I detect LaBolt using the “‘get out of dodge’ dodge” tactic there? Just look at the perfect technique! Did anybody watch Hardball – apparently Cutter asked Chrissy what he was doing later.

She’s creepy and demented.

Ryan’s main misleading habits:
~ Being intelligent
~ Being honest
~ Being accurate
~ Being admirable
~ Being likable

The O campaign is making a huge strategic mistake by continuing to throw mud at Romney’s character (and Ryan’s, especially after tonight), calling them liars and such. That only works until voters see R&R for themselves. After that it becomes obvious the O campaign is being dishonest, too negative, even unfair.

Every day the polls continue to move towards Romney. The O campaign does not seem to realize they are helping that happen. R&R are playing it well, stepping aside while their opponents are shooting themselves in the feet.

Yep. That ugliness appeals to his base (they love that stuff). But it alienates those in the middle that may be on the fence. Keep it up, Champ!

LOL, enjoyed thanks MayDay :)

CoffeeLover on October 11, 2012 at 8:09 PM

Will this be the debate open thread?

Let’s toast Paul Ryan.

*clink*

petefrt on October 11, 2012 at 8:10 PM

Probably the misleading habit of claiming he’s a fiscal conservative and a champion of limited government, where his votes for TARP, the bailouts, Medicare Part D, raising the debt ceiling, etc., completely show his true colors.

Dante on October 11, 2012 at 8:11 PM

Amen here, too, Scrumpy!

I’m going to listen via C-SPAN on my computer while I work, but unfortunately may only be able to lurk here while it’s going on.

Maybe I can get in a stray comment here and there during the proceedings. :)

Praying hard also, for both Romney and Ryan!

After September 11th, Biden Suggested Sending $200 Million To Iran, “No Strings Attached,” As A Gesture Of Good Faith To The Arab World.

“At the Tuesday-morning meeting with committee staffers, Biden launches into a stream-of-consciousness monologue about what his committee should be doing, before he finally admits the obvious: ‘I’m groping here.’ Then he hits on an idea: America needs to show the Arab world that we’re not bent on its destruction. ‘Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran’ Biden declares. He surveys the table with raised eyebrows, a How do ya like that? look on his face.”

(Michael Crowley, “Rhetorical Question,” The New Republic, 10/22/01)

The “foreign policy genius” is so smart that — apart from his ludicrous idea of sending the nutters $200 million with “no strings attached” as a “goodwill gesture” after 9/11 — he doesn’t even know that Iran is NOT Arab. It’s Persian…and much of the Arab World loathes Iran.
