Something to cleanse the palate while we wait for Paul Ryan to attack the Death Star in Kentucky. All of you already knew that Hamill is a liberal, yes? (So much so that the story of the haircut that Romney forced on a classmate in high school appears to weigh heavily in his electoral calculations.) If not, here’s a rule of thumb that will serve you well: Virtually everyone associated with “Star Wars” is an out-and-proud leftist. There may be a Jawa somewhere in the cast who votes libertarian, but opinion among the major players appears to be as varied as storm troopers’ uniforms. In fairness to Hamill, though, O is a bit like Obi-Wan: He performs mind tricks on dull-witted apparatchiks; he leaves his underlings equipped to defend themselves with little more than the Force; and judging from the polls lately, it looks like he’s headed for an early exit from the movie. It’s Cenk, however, who’s right about Biden. He’s much more like Chewbacca than Uncle Owen — primitive yet loyal, and not ineffective when the chips are down.
Speaking of O’s early exit, and in the interest of redeeming this dumb post with actual information, go look at today’s Gallup tracker. Romney bounced out to a two-point lead after O’s Denver debacle but then slid back into a tie yesterday, raising the question of whether his surge was a bounce that would soon fade or something more enduring. Today’s result: Romney back up by a point. Not smoking-gun proof of durability, but a promising sign. Also promising:
Republican rival Mitt Romney picked up 3 points to lead U.S. President Obama 49 percent to 46 percent, a United Press International poll indicated Thursday.
Romney’s lead, which was within the poll’s 4.5 percentage-point margin of error, was based on a national survey taken by UPI-CVoter pollsters in the days following the first presidential debate.
It is the first time Romney has had the lead since the UPI poll began this election cycle.
Of the last seven national polls taken, Romney leads in five, is tied in one, and trails Obama — by a single point — in the other, which is, er, Rasmussen’s. Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball calculus just moved Virginia from “leans Democrat” to “toss-up” and Florida from “toss-up” to “leans Republican,” and Susequhanna’s pollster tells Guy Benson that Pennsylvania might be more competitive than you think. The Romney campaign is also poised to outspend Obama on ads this week, the first time that’s happened in the course of campaign. The Force is strong with this one.

You were trying to say that you could discuss the science if you wanted to, but that you don’t want to discuss the science with me.
But we all know that this isn’t true.
We all know that you’re don’t want to discuss the science of CAGW with me because I’ll make you look stupid.

You don’t understand the difference between a revenue subsidy and specific tax treatments.
Seriously, tell us what specific “government benefit” oil companies get that all companies don’t get?
All companies are allowed to depreciate infrastructure builds. All companies are allowed to deduct their cost of goods sold (which is what a depletion allowance is).
Or, do you think that it’s wrong that all companies are allowed to deduct the cost of doing business?

That’s because the green sector gets actual subsidies – i.e. direct handouts from the government – in addition to the standard tax deductions big oil and every other company get.
That’s the difference you just can’t seem to grasp.
Identify any single direct subsidy any big oil company has gotten that is comparable to the DOE handouts Solyndra and other “green” companies have gotten – just one.
And don’t try to use (again) the standard operating expense deductions that EVERYONE gets.

Except, you confused the “issue” by calling tax deductions (depletion allowances and IDCs, which are the costs of doing business for independents and wildcatters) “subsidies,” which they are not.
As for “special treatment,” you will notice that major oil companies DO get special treatment. They are NOT allowed to deduct many standard costs of doing business.
Do you have any other “inconsistencies” or “ignorance” that you would like to prominently display for the world today?

I love Arabs. I really do. They like horses and keep women in their place and know not to toss acid on horses. They do wonders with lamb and rice.
I think that despite some comments I may have made about Media Matters and President Obama, both have some redeeming qualities, also.
Then we have Al Gore. It was bad enough that this pathetic, fat, piece of crap got preachy at the expense of poor Americans and folks the world over with this nut ball global warm..er, climate change and then manipulated ignorant dupes like some in this administration to put a millstone on a nascent recovery. Then he sells to oil money!
His excuse citing the extent of the network’s coverage of climate issues is interesting. Of course, the oil industry is of vital import to those folks. So is keeping prices high. Go over there and watch the TV or just check their web site!
Those goals are NOT necessarily antithetical dealing fairly with the US. They sure are to banning or reducing the use of fossil fuels.
Maybe if I could get the US unemployed to pay him off, he would have sold to a community organizing group, or maybe the US chamber of commerce.

I didn’t say free . They had a mess of BMW’s in NJ salvage after Sandy. So many I thought the Bavarians were reducing inventory by dropping the excess units in the drink. They were cheap and I was looking for something to customize since I gave my Caddy away. The best was a 7 in Miami with hail except they were cutting th price nearly enough. When hail is so bad you have to dump the panels and weld till next week.

Oil Subsidies That Should Be Removed
First, let’s take a look at oil subsidies that are obvious and unnecessary. Congress should eliminate the following subsidies:
Government R&D
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Tax Credit.
and
Special tax treatment can serve the same purpose as a subsidy by uniquely favoring the oil and gas industry.

1. THIS IS A TAX CREDIT! If the company doesn’t make a profit, then they get NOTHING! This doesn’t help them get revenue. Why are you too stupid to understand this?
2. This tax deduction hasn’t even been available for a long time.
This is like a “Cost Of Goods Sold” or “Cost of Sales” that every company in the world gets to expense. Apple gets to deduct the expense of “selling” an iPhone. Independent oil companies get to deduct the “cost” of their oil sold via Percentage Depletion Allowance.
Or do you think that Apple deserves this type of deduction more than independent oil companies?????

Acknowledge that you understand the difference between a revenue subsidy and a tax deduction. Acknowledge that you understand that one artifically props up a business while the other one merely allows additional profits (that would be earn anyway) to be retained by shareholders.
If you don’t acknowledge this, then you have ZERO credibility.

You think it’s ok for Apple to deduct their expenses, but you refuse to acknowledge that the oil and gas industry should be allowed to have very similar deductions.

No, that’s not my position. The oil and gas industry is different than many other industries. In a way, it’s special. Apple gets to expense the cost of selling a product (COGS or Cost of Sales) that they make. Oil companies don’t make a product, therefore their COGS allowance is different.
Does “different” mean “special”? Do things that are different need to have “special” rules in order to provide similar treatment? Why, gee. Yes, they do.
