Pelosi’s pre-debate advice to Biden: “Women.”

posted at 1:21 pm on October 10, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Our gaffe-prone vice president is going to have his work cut out for him on Thursday night, when he’ll be debating against the formidable budgetary and economic expertise of Republican running mate Paul Ryan. Which is probably why, according to Nancy Pelosi, it’s best that Biden maybe just try to steer the conversation clear of all of that pesky economic bad news and just keep the focus Everbody’s Favorite Democratic Distraction — the war on women, of course.

I’m very confident that Joe Biden will do a great job. … I just would say one word to the Biden people: Women. Women. Whether you are talking about affordable health care, whether you are talking about Medicare, whether you are talking about Lilly Ledbetter, fair, equal pay, you know, ending discrimination in the workplace, the rest of it. I really think that the divide among single women for the president is like, 25 – 30 points, and we have to have married women in that category as well. … [Biden] was the author of the Violence Against Women Act, which Paul Ryan has voted against…

Yes, because when I think about the critical issues facing this country, I for one know that my simple, egocentric female brain sure as heck skips right over “jobs and the economy” and shoots right to “ending discrimination in the workplace.” [Head meets desk.]

After the clarifications afforded by the first Romney vs. Obama debate, the Democrats’ campaign — so much of which is based on trumped-up social distractions like Nancy Pelosi’s brilliant ‘advice’ — immediately took a hit, even among us women:

Further, Romney’s post-debate surge appears to have all but wiped out Obama’s once double-digit lead among women voters.

A Pew Research Center survey released Monday depicted a remarkable swing in the numbers, with Romney pulling even among women in polling late last week. In September, the same polling outfit showed Obama leading by 18 points among women.

This entire stupid meme rests on the assumption that women first and foremost self-identify as women, and that we vote as a big monolithic voting bloc; that may be how Democrats want us to see ourselves, but as Kathleen Parker points out, it’s a far cry from the truth.

This also happens to be the year of the fiscal cliff, when automatic spending cuts take effect at the same time Bush-era tax breaks expire. … It is also the year that al-Qaeda caught its breath and began gaining traction again, and when terrorists murdered one of our ambassadors. …

Women, in other words, recognize the gravity of the problems this nation faces and are likely to pick a candidate based on these issues rather than on a party’s platform on abortion and contraception.

In fact, women, who are not a monolithic group any more than men are, don’t really rank reproductive issues at the top of their concerns. A recent Kaiser Family Foundation survey found that fewer than 1 percent of respondents mentioned women’s health or birth control as top election-year issues. …

Smart move.

Have a Catholic VP attack a Catholic Congressman for opposing abortion, and then when for Church officals to weigh in. Only 77.7 Catholics in the U.S. will be watching that one.

Come to think of it, Church officials HAVE weighed in, with this video:

Pelosi is insane. Paul Ryan is charming and easy on the eyes, so trying to paint him as someone who’s part of a “war on women” is futile. Not to mention it’ll show yet again on the heels of the Big Bird debacle that this campaign isn’t serious about anything.

I hope Ryan uses not only the debt and deficit and jobs along with Benghazi but gets down to the bread and butter issues…esp. the bread and butter issues — food, gasoline, healthcare costs. As the people mostly in charge of making the family budget work, women will relate to these issues ALOT.

I don’t see this as distraction; this is smart by Pelosi.

If 95% or so of the electorate have decided who they’re voting for, that small remaining 5-6% needs to be fought over. That’s whom Ryan and Biden will be fighting for. And a good chunk are those independent/moderate women.

We don’t have brains, we don’t have thoughts aboput anything other than our “lady parts”, we don’t have children and granchildren whose futures we worry about, we don’t have jobs we worry about losing, we don’t have houses we worry about paying for. We only have “lady parts” and we are focused on them 24/7.

So much for women being individuals who are in control of their own life. Under liberalism, women should vote all the same, and vote for the party that will take all their responsibilities away from them and take care of them.

Women care about their kids’ futures and opportunities.

Women care about whether they or their husbands (or sisters or brothers) can get and keep a good paying job.

Women care about getting actual healthcare (not just a promise of healthcare from people who have a habit of over promising)

Women care about the cost of energy and food.

Women care about a lot of things.

He should start with the number four. As in the number of years Biden admits the middle class has been buried by bad economic policy.

Then he could go on to eleven. As in the real unemployment rate as a measure from the time Obama took office.

Then he could go to 42. As in the number of months of negative job growth.

My point is this. I have no worries about Ryan being able to deliver numbers- he’s a numbers guy. But, frankly, any politician that spends all their time talking in terms of millions, billions, and even trillions will lose the audience. The numbers are so large they become unfathomable.

Okay I know this OT but…Tom Smith is within 2% points of Bob Casey Jr. in Pa for the Senate. And Josh Mandel is tied, yep tied, with Sherrod Brown in Ohio for the Senate. I hope this is a good sign in both states and I sent off my little bit to help.

SlowJoe plans to have some women sit on his lap during the debate, and he will comment on how well them perform on hard wood (although not that he has anything but balsa to offer).

bayview on October 10, 2012 at 2:09 PM

Yes Joe, tell those WOMEN how you and your accomplice think you are pleasing women by telling them you are giving them free birth control worth about $10 per month. Then tell them how you are raping them for $60 per week or $240 per month for filling up their gas tank. Tell them how much beef, corn, bread and other staples have increased at the grocery. Tell them how much their health insurance has and will continue to increase under obamacare, WAY more than $10. Tell them JOe how you and Obama think they are stupid enough to buy your B/S pick up line. There are some that will buy it, smart ones will see right through it and your lame a$$. If you need free birth control from the government, you may want to re-evaluate who you are sleeping with and your future.

My point is this. I have no worries about Ryan being able to deliver numbers- he’s a numbers guy. But, frankly, any politician that spends all their time talking in terms of millions, billions, and even trillions will lose the audience. The numbers are so large they become unfathomable.

Happy Nomad on October 10, 2012 at 1:59 PM

But will the moderator — a dedicated Democrat with clear personal ties to Obama — actually ask a question that will give Ryan an opening to hammer the bad numbers? My understanding is that the ugly treatment the media has been giving Jim Lehrer over the way he moderated the Denver debate is a very explicit warning to the next three debate moderators: Throw the debate for Obama or face very serious consequences.

catsandbooks on October 10, 2012 at 2:09 PM

She’s actually advising Joe that he should appear at the debate in drag – and by golly, he just might do it!

TarheelBen on October 10, 2012 at 2:10 PM

“… right after we discuss all the respect Kennedy clan has shown to women throughout decades past. And pay structure in your administration for same jobs performed by men and women.”

As already stated above, both Romney and Ryan must bring up Benghazi up for discussion at every opportunity they get. Followed by Fast and Furious. Throw them off their track, they won’t be able to discuss either event.

riddick on October 10, 2012 at 1:48 PM

I think Bubba has the monopoly when it comes to womenz treatment though :), widely publicised and of planetary notoriety, what with the advance of the global village, the internet and drudge :)…but the Kennedys are up in the hierarchy when it comes to respect for womyn too :)…mary joe kopecky, nuf said…

And yep! Benghazi should be every second word coming out of Ryan’s word…same like we know ‘womenz’ will be the only word coming out of joe’s dirty ole mouth…

Whether you are talking about affordable health care, whether you are talking about Medicare, whether you are talking about Lilly Ledbetter, fair, equal pay, you know, ending discrimination in the workplace, the rest of it.

Medicare is a women’s issue? Who knew?

Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act does not apply to those who made it into a law.

And for the record, Ms. Nancy Belagossi, instead of fair pay to women all they got was free rubbers.

I read about Mandel the other day and couldn’t believe my eyes…they were showing him behind by 10 % at some point, not long ago…Charlie Cook was saying that it’s impossible for him to win that race, which was pretty demoralizing, knowing that charlie cook is a serious analyst…am sure he thinks differently now…will donate to him too…

Pelosi’s pre-debate advice to Biden: “Women.”

You really can’t give Joe advice that vague — He’s just as likely to come out on stage tomorrow dressed as Marilyn Monroe and sing a chorus of “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to Obama during the debate.

jon1979 on October 10, 2012 at 2:20 PM

Canned bombastic accusations designed to put Ryan on the defensive. We know that, keep with the actual topic, if bozo persists then nail him with facts.

Look! Squirrel!

Pelosi should be treated like a Troll…

… Ignored.

Seven Percent Solution on October 10, 2012 at 2:22 PM

When Pelosi breathes her first breath on the other side……..will she be greeted by the faces of the 20 plus MILLION baby “women” that she has helped snuff out in the womb?

She is a pathetic lost soul………and God help the country survive her leadership.

PappyD61 on October 10, 2012 at 2:23 PM

Remember when olde Woody Biden regaled high schoolers on women’s issues;

Guess what, the cheerleaders in college are the best athletes in college,” Biden said. “You think, I’m joking, they’re almost all gymnasts, the stuff they do on hard wood, it blows my mind.”

Pelosi’s pre-debate advice to Biden: “Women.”

Biden: “Yeah, man! Good advice! All the big athletes have pre-game sex, right?! Reduce stress, and all that. (to aide) Hey, call that chick from the diner…”

Moms, would you support your son/daughter going into the diplomatic service under our current President knowing that his State Dept withdrew 34 trained security staff in Libya over the 6 months prior to the anniversary of 9-11, against the advice of personnel on the ground, including the ambassador, leaving him with but 2 former seals around him and a Libyan support staff that wasn’t armed? And then blamed his death on a video?

I can hardly wait for Pelosi’s bill demanding “Planned Botox” clinics set up around the country…

right2bright on October 10, 2012 at 3:50 PM

Sure, sure, Uncle Joe. Just follow Mama Pelosi’s advice. She’s such a genius, top Dems are thinking even if they retook the House, they might not want her for Speaker again.

They honestly don’t think about the fact that we women have fathers, husbands, sons, grandsons, nephews, all of whom we might actually like and want good things for. Like jobs, and a chance to secure a better future. And they don’t bother to think that most of those males would actually want the same thing for us.

My pre-debate advice to Pelosi: Just DIE. You f’n corrupt lying hag.
