Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 9:31 am on October 7, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Time once again to make your picks from this week’s eye-popping Obamateurisms!  We don’t recycle around here; we get plenty from the campaign trail to keep things fresh.  Even so, readers often find one no-brainer among them — will you this week?

Previous weekly “winners” in 2012:

Previous Obamateurisms of the Year:

  • Giving 2 minutes of “shout-outs” before getting to the Fort Hood shooting (2009)
  • Obama leaves Clinton at press conference podium on tax deal to attend Christmas party (2010)
  • “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president— with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln.” (2011)

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

I went to 150 houses in Reno yesterday, asking registered Republican and sympathetic voters to support R&R, and perhaps take advantage of early voting. There are 60 other Californians walking the precincts with me. We’ll be meeting more voters today.

Make sure all of your right-thinking relatives, friends, and neighbors vote. We will win this election.

What, there’s no option just for “Wednesday’s debate performance?”

Caiwyn on October 7, 2012 at 9:37 AM

Rasmussen shows same result as yesterday, 49-47, so that means that Saturday’s polling was about the same as Wednesday’s, which is also what PPP tweeted was happening.

The 7.8 number was the Atomic Bomb that destroyed the debate and the Romney campaign.

aunursa on October 7, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Hats off to you. What you are doing is the legwork to the great victory that I think this election will be. My family is going after fellow relatives to vote, people at work and talking up the election to everyone we can bring it up in conversation with. Now is a great time too, because people are still talking about the debate. 70 million people or more watched it and the majority thought obama stunk the place up.

We need to keep sending Mitt money too.

As a woman, the eye candy reference really angered me. Romney has about a million times more sex appeal.

However, the act of going to a fundraiser just after our Ambassador was slaughtered was the obvious choice. And the shame of it is even greater for our press — who failed to make this the “mega-Katrina” moment that is was.

Thank God that he’s only going to be around for a few more months and then we can be done gawking at this train wreck. I’m also thankful that he won’t be doing any actual “governing” and that he’s going to spend what time he has left galavanting around the country trying to drum up more money and give speech after speech after speech so that he can’t screw up our country any more than he already has.

CW,

If you had any clue about polling, you would know that Rasmussen’s Saturday sample result has Obama back in the lead with roughly the same percentage as Wednesday’s. That is also what PPP tweeted last night was happening…the numbers are now back to pre-debate levels.

And why is that, lol? The 7.8 unemployment number took away focus from the debate. All so simple.

“Do you realize how pathetic the 0bama Economy is when his little zombies have to tout a (highly suspect) unemployment rate of 7.8% as good news?”

Do you realize that the average voter DOES find it to be good news?

All you had to do was watch/listen to the news coverage on Friday and Saturday to know what was going to happen to the poll numbers.

Romney most certainly was getting a bounce due to the debate. And Obama is most certainly negating that bounce now due to the jobs numbers.

If everyone wants to focus on Romney’s bounce, it’s only fair to focus on the bounce that killed his bounce.

Walker is a goner…

“A new Rasmussen poll finds that Republican Wisconsin Scott Walker is in trouble of being recalled June 5, with a majority, 52 percent, saying they will vote him out less than two years after he took office and immediately went to work to cut the power of public service unions.

Worse for Walker: 53 percent disapprove of his job as governor with a whopping 46 percent saying they “strongly disapprove” of Walker. Majorities of both men and women now support his recall. Rasmussen found that his support among Republicans and conservatives remains strong.

Is this some kind of computer hacking program that just keeps repeating the same crap over and over again and inserting it into any thread no matter what the topic??? PLEASE get this moron out of here!!!!

BeachBum on October 7, 2012 at 9:45 AM

I thought there was a policy against spamming here too. I generally don’t mind trolls, they’re easy to ignore or pull their chains. But I don’t like one who spams the same comment and takes up space.

Hey Troll, that’s no bet for you. You would be leaving Anyway if Romney wins cause your paycheck would stop.

BeachBum on October 7, 2012 at 10:42 AM

It’s a no brainer. While embassies burned.

CW is too gutless to accept the bet.

He’s nothing but a typical partisan spin machine that doesn’t even believe what he’s saying.

Rasmussen shows same result as yesterday, 49-47, so that means that Saturday’s polling was about the same as Wednesday’s, which is also what PPP tweeted was happening.

The 7.8 number was the Atomic Bomb that destroyed the debate and the Romney campaign.

gumbyandpokey on October 7, 2012 at 9:40 AM

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if that “atomic bomb” gives you a bunch of polls in which you’re losing, then you’re standing on ground zero.

Obama lied, Americans died: Obamahitler.

Ed, I don’t mind trolls, I like to play with them once in a while. But Gumby’s spamming is out of line and I agree with those who thinks it should go for that reason. If it’s allowed to do this now, it will do it every day and tie up space that real commenters could be using. JMO

As Rasmussen and PPP both show, as soon as Thursday and Friday roll off the samples, Obama is back comfortably in the lead.

If the jobs numbers had been worse, I don’t doubt one bit that the debate would have been the moment that might have won Romney the race.

But the 7.8 number undid all the impact, and gave people a reason to vote for Obama again (those that were looking for one).

gumbyandpokey on October 7, 2012 at 10:46 AM

Hey CW,

So are you a coward or not?

Romney wins and I leave the site. Obama wins and you leave?

Deal, or too cowardly to accept it?

Have the courage of your convictions, little man (or woman, if that’s the case).

gumbyandpokey on October 7, 2012 at 10:38 AM

That’s not much of an offer. We all know Romney wins and you leave this site regardless of whether he takes the bet.

Your understanding of leverage is about as deep as Obama’s knowledge of the economy, as demonstrated in the Rocky Mountain beatdown he received Wednesday.

How about we just take a poll?

Troll poll: Who would you prefer to leave, CW or GumbynPokey.

GnP!

(PS, I’m going to ask 15 percent of the Conservatives to not vote so we can get the normal liberal troll oversample)
