Question for Obama fans: Do you think it was unfair that he didn’t get to use his teleprompter at the debate?

posted at 6:41 pm on October 5, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Ace, three minutes of fun from Rebel Pundit and the Breitbart crew. The criticism of Jim Lehrer since Wednesday comes from the same basic impulse that’s driving the TOTUS fans here: Obama didn’t do well, therefore the debate was unfair, therefore something should have been different to make it more fair. Deciding whether it was Lehrer or Romney’s phantom cheat sheet or the debate commission’s cruel refusal to let The One wear a helmet with a tiny prompter bolted to it is less important than accepting that some injustice must have occurred to deny O his rightful victory.

The only thing on which everyone can agree in the aftermath is that he was, in fact, truly terrible. And when I say “everyone,” I mean everyone:

“You could tell he was pissed,” said a person close to the president, “But it wasn’t like the end of the world. It was like, ‘That wasn’t good. The next one has to better.’ No apologies. No hand-wringing.”

That night, after a brief, terse chat with his advisers backstage at the University of Denver arena — “He had real clarity about what had happened,” one of them told POLITICO with a chuckle — Obama hopped in his limo, “The Beast,” and sped off to a nearby DoubleTree with wife Michelle…

At first, Obama didn’t think his performance was a complete disaster. But he began Thursday morning by watching excerpts of his own performance and was especially struck by his own tentative, grim demeanor — especially when he and a more relaxed Mitt Romney were broadcast in split-screen. It was worse than he thought, according to one person close to the situation. He was subdued but positive on a conference call with staff.

Follow the link above for the first inklings of the media’s inevitable “Obama comeback” narrative after the next debate. As for Wednesday’s dial-tone performance, for once the New Yorker’s got it right. Click the image to watch.

If you asked black students at UW Madison why the Republicans have refused to allow Obama and Biden to use the Star Trek phasers for personal protection — phasers which the CIA has perfected — I’m guessing that more than 50% would buy the scam and blame racism.

We have raised two generations of people and taught them to be retarded. Functional at birth, and functionally retarded upon graduation from “college”.

Jaibones on October 5, 2012 at 7:06 PM

My favorite answer was “How are they supposed to memorize an hour and a half debate?”

And in the link comments someone suggested letting Obama use the teleprompter with Biden typing the answers. I would definitely go for that. The requirement would be Biden would have to type them personally-it would be hilarious-the time delays, the typos, the batsh** crazy answers. They should even get extra time for the extreme entertainment value.

Actually, I am all for it. As long as Newt stands in for Romney. I would just love to hear Clinton explain who was the one responsible for balanced budgets and then explain to us how it is that first attack on WTC took place and he did nothing about it in retrospect. And how he demolished CIA, the price we’re still paying. TravelGate and FBI files just sitting in his desk would be a nice discussions as well.

OT. Anyone see Allen West take down his communist host on TV today? Funny how the “interview” ended as soon as West mentioned Benghazi.

This MUST BE Romney’s attack line: Benghazi. They are simply afraid of it, deathly afraid. Allen West showed today just how easy it is to debate the morons and the idiot in WH.

As Isaac Pollak, an ardent Republican, kissed his wife goodbye before heading out on a business trip to Asia several years ago, he handed her his absentee ballot for the coming presidential election and asked her to mail it.

Bonnie Pollak, a Democrat, weighed her options. Should she be loyal to her spouse, respect his legal right and mail the ballot? Or remain faithful to her deeply held beliefs and suppress his vote?

“It was a real dilemma,” says Ms. Pollak, 58 years old, a student in a doctoral program in social welfare who lives in Manhattan. “I decided to do the right thing.”

Not even 1% of the voting public watch Meet The Press or This Week. The job numbers will fade just as soon as everyone says to himself “Sh**, my situation still sucks.”. “Nobody has respect for you. None.

CW on October 5, 2012 at 7:32 PM”

And you think I care? If someone is looking for “respect” from an echo-chamber partisan political site (favoring either side), then something is really wrong.

I will be proven right on election night, probably before that when the polling dust settles. That’s all I care about.

gumbyandpokey on October 5, 2012 at 7:37 PM

True, but average voters decide elections and they are hugely influenced by what they see on tv/newspaper headlines/popular culture.

gumbyandpokey on October 5, 2012 at 7:33 PM

Actually they are more influenced by what they see at the grocery store and the gas station.

Do you think people in California give a flying fig what the unemployment numbers are right now?

The One wear(ing) a helmet with a tiny prompter bolted to it

Please tell me there’s a photo of this somewhere.

But of course: Obama Teleprompter Helmet

slickwillie2001 on October 5, 2012 at 7:38 PM

I think they’re bunk, too. But they were the focus of all the nightly newscasts, all the radio news broadcasts throughout the day in WI, and it will be front page news in all the Saturday newspapers, and the numbers are being touted by Obama in his speeches (which are broadcast on cable tv). The majority of the voting public gets their info from those sources, not liberal or conservative internet sites.

BTW, Obama is doing a much better job bragging about the numbers than Romney is in saying why they’re bogus.

gumbyandpokey on October 5, 2012 at 7:31 PM

So, like the progressives, you assume Joe/Jane average are stupid. I interact with them all the time. They look at those numbers then look around at their friends, neighbors and family who are un/under employed and shake their heads about the educated idiots crowing over the numbers.

gumbyandpokey on October 5, 2012 at 7:33 PM

Right, but this lie is so outrageous that even low info voters, when they see it on the networks, are laughing their asses off. It’s like standing in a rain storm and watching the weather guy tell you it’s sunny outside. You just shake your head at what a dumbass the guy is. Lots of folks shaking their heads at barack today, even the low-info voters. They’re thinking, “OK, maybe I’m dumb, but I’m not that dumb.” Total disaster this is, but that’s how it goes sometimes with a hail Mary pass.

gophergirl on October 5, 2012 at 7:38 PM”

The people in California care more about voting for Democrats than they do about the price of gas or the unemployment numbers. Gas could be $10.00 a gallon and Obama still wins by over 10 pts.

And people nationally haven’t been dissuaded from voting for Obama due to the increase in food prices or gas prices. His approval still is around 50%, with no sign of it going down any time soon.

gumbyandpokey on October 5, 2012 at 7:33 PM

So, they were hugely influenced by the debate then? Because every medium you listed above reported that Romney beat the living hell out of Obama on Wednesday night. But now that’s all forgotten because unemployment went from 8.1% to 7.8% because of a spike in part-time and stay-at-home jobs that don’t pay well and provide no benefits. Just like that. Because you say so. Sure, we believe you…

joejm65 on October 5, 2012 at 7:42 PM

It was totally unfair. Romney got to bring in a handkerchief, after all…

Well maybe you should make an appearance in AP’s latest thread, or do you not understand what is happening in Libya and how your King is lying to you and the rest of the American people.

Here, I’ll even give you the link so that your little pin head doesn’t get lost.

Career intel officers: Obama’s not telling you how far Al Qaeda has penetrated into Libya and Egypt

See you there, troll. Obama lied, people died.

JPeterman on October 5, 2012 at 7:47 PM

Imbecilic does not come close to describing these Obama supporters. Let’s pray that they are too clueless to find their way to the voting booth.
