Open thread: Hannity and the Daily Caller on the Obama tape

posted at 8:42 pm on October 2, 2012 by Allahpundit

It’s the news du jour thanks to Drudge so here’s your thread for reaction. Evidently the DC will post its story at 9 p.m. ET just as Hannity’s show starts to roll. I’ll update this post with the clip once it’s available. If you haven’t been following the earlier thread, Drudge hopped onto Twitter to hint that the controversial bits of Obama’s 2007 Hampton speech didn’t end up in the video posted by the local paper. Go figure that the one time in his life that O strays from the teleprompter, he gets in trouble for it.

Greg Pollowitz jokes:

Yeah, if forced to choose between defending a five-year-old speech and having to explain why an American ambassador was left essentially without security in the middle of the Jihadistan known as eastern Libya, I’m thinking O will probably take his chances with door number one. Then again, it’s not an either/or proposition. And thanks to Democratic wagon-circling, he doesn’t seem to have paid a serious political price for the Benghazi debacle — yet. Darrell Issa and the Oversight Committee will have more to say about that next week.

No matter what happens, I think Ace’s co-blogger DrewM is on firm ground with this prediction. Stand by for the vid.

Update: I’m going to take advantage of intense reader interest in the Drudge story to post this right here. If it’s an Obama scandal you want, you got it. Settle in for 45 minutes from Univision of some of the very lowest moments of Hopenchange.

Update: Here’s the link to the DC’s story and the clip. Video of the full speech is at the link.

(Guns)are being purchased for when the financial system fails and the moochers become full-blown looters.

LegendHasIt on October 2, 2012 at 11:07 PM

Sadly, it is really this simple . . .

Looters, murders, rapists, savages. It’s what you do when all you know how to survive is where to sign on to the Federal tit for your stamps and Obamaphone. When the collapse comes.

BigAlSouth on October 3, 2012 at 5:48 AM

That’s it??? The big October surprise???
There is nothing there to even discuss.

Where is the link directly to the entire speech?

There is nothing on Daily Caller but a 4-minute cut-and-paste video clip?
http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/02/obama-speech-jeremiah-wright-new-orleans/
And now it even seems gone.

albill on October 3, 2012 at 6:06 AM

This s 99% non-story, the only relevant part being new evidence of being a phony.

And to think they gave Romney grief for saying “y’all” to to a bunch of southerners.

Rich Little didn’t have as many voices as this guy does.

Chuckles3 on October 3, 2012 at 6:15 AM

This might have been a somethingburger if we didn’t know Obama is a liar and a fake. Since we know that, it’s no surprise that he would misrepresent himself and fake “accents”.

I think the Biden fumble is bigger news.

Grace_is_sufficient on October 3, 2012 at 6:20 AM

It’s all a part of “the show”. My take.

ZOMG a black man is sounding errrr way too black! BE SCARED WHITE PEOPLE!

DBear on October 2, 2012 at 11:00 PM

What does a black man sound like?

Bishop on October 2, 2012 at 11:04 PM

You’re such an ignorant white guy, Bish. DoucheBear knows…the only dialect black people can understand is this southern Baptist preacher schtick. White guys from Hawaii have to learn to speak this way for college audiences of blacks to understand them.

It took Obama almost four years to teach Greasy Joe how to pronounce “y’all” and “gon’”.

Jaibones on October 3, 2012 at 6:44 AM

Good thing there isn’t a video of Obama blaming a bloody Al Qaeda terrorist attack on a US consulate on a YouTube video. Oh.

Good thing there isn’t a 2008 video of Obama promising to cut the deficit in half by 2012. Oh.

You know what’d be wild? An unearthed video of Obama fundraising in Las Vegas 24 hours after a terrorist attack.

Can you imagine the field day the media would have if, say, Obama partied under an 18′ tower of champagne with Jay-Z amid 8.2% unemployment?

Let me know if they unearth a video of Obama announcing unemployment under 8%.

Let me know if they unearth a video of a single network talking head mentioning the 2000th US death in Afghanistan.

In fact, let me know if they uncover a video after 2010 of a network newscast actually acknowledging American troops are in a war.

You know who’s having a good laugh over this unearthed Obama video business? ‘Sam Bacile.’ #ormaybenot

Is this dbag, dbea, whatever he calls himself the same one who not long ago had an ‘epiphany” of sorts and came here and apologized to everybody for his past comments, then he said that he ‘suffered’ a conversion or something and that he was a recovering dimcrat…does anybody know if it’s the same dbag? Not that it matters much, he is still a dbag, proly a lying one too..much like his boy king…

So this is his “Southern” accent. Where does his regular accent come from… the clipped and whistled words? That must be his Indonesian accent.

Anyone who can’t see huge differences between Republicans and Democrats is an unmitigated bonehead. Of course, judging from the way you (mis)interpret the Constitution on a consistent basis, I already knew that about you.

No one would argue Republicans are ideologically pure, or that a majority of Republican public officials are devoted to anything much larger than their careers.

Even so, there is a huge philosophical difference and no one can credibly claim that even a McCain Administration would have handled things identically to Obama.

What’s more, you’ve become a bit of a running joke around here – so maybe you should think about upping your game a bit and getting information from somewhere besides a Ross Perot message board.

‘We don’t need to build more highways out in the suburbs’…

Breitbart.com: Stanley Kurtz Exposes Obama’s War on the Suburbs: Ideological Key to Obama’s Past, Present, and Future

Stanley Kurtz, who traced Barack Obama‚s left-wing political origins in Radical-in-Chief (2010), is releasing a new and powerful follow-up this week: Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities. Kurtz demonstrates that Obama’s early political goals included redistributing suburban wealth–and that he is working closely with old community organizing allies to implement that program as president.

Please Drudge, Fox News, et al, no more of these Chicken Little-type hypes of “bombshell” October Surprise(!!!) posts when they are really nothing. This one was nothing…just more distractions from the economy, Libya fiasco, Fast & Furious, etc.

Overload people with lots of information and then they tune it all out.
(But maybe that is the goal?)

albill on October 3, 2012 at 8:26 AM

No more Drudge for me. This isnt the first time he’s done this. I almost expect it from Hannity, but the producers/execs at Fox News shouldnt even of allowed this to go on. Irresponsible to hype something up like that, knowing it was going to be a flop. And if they didnt know it was going to fizzle, then they should be fired for being clueless.

Libya was finally picking up some steam and they should have just stayed on that story. Why put this crap out and distract?

ShadowsPawn on October 3, 2012 at 8:52 AM

This tape may please conservatives demanding red meat but it could backfire big time. Do we really want to light a fire under black voters and their leftwing cohorts in the media at this point? Look at it from another perspective: this could be another giant distraction at a time when Obama’s already sinking in the polls. Do we really want to remind voters of Bush’s Katrina record and discuss that instead of the economy and Lybia? Do you really think the media will treat this issue objectively and not try to turn it upside down by accusing conservatives of racism? Do we want to assure a Dem turnout that resembles ’08 by bringing up race issues that will only serve to inflate the black vote? This makes no sense unless we believe we’re desperately behind. But look at the most recent polls, for heaven’s sake. We’re actually ahead. Why interfere with this momentum by inciting a last minute race riot?

kingsjester on October 3, 2012 at 9:27 AM

I actually feel bad for you guys.
If, say, Mother Jones was to tease that they were about to post a shocking video that would completely upend Romney’s campaign – excitement, eagerness, anticipation, 1000 comment threads at Huff Post etc. would follow. And if it turned out that when that video was released it’s just a big steaming pile of nothingness – lots of folks would feel deflated, mislead, and played like fools.
What you need to do here is just pick yourselves up off the floor, sober up, and await the next ‘big reveal’.
I suppose you could pass the time by getting on Dinesh D’Souza’s “Did you know Obama’s mom was fat sl*t?” train.
It’s likely only a matter of time before Fox takes that one for a ride too.

verbaluce on October 3, 2012 at 9:47 AM

We already knew Obama was a race baiter, a street thug agitator, a fraud, a con man, a hypocrite, a big liar, a narcissist, arrogant, condescending, vindictive, self-absorbed.

I bet even the majority of his supporters don’t even like him, except for the hopelessly naive.
But they will vote for him anyway. Honor, decency, integrity DO NOT MATTER to these people.

You would think the Univision Fast/Furious report would turn huge numbers of Hispanics against him. Again I think they don’t like Obama—but the gravy train is too good to pass up.

Why . . . . . is there something wrong with the “Matrix”?

listens2glenn on October 3, 2012 at 10:15 AM

“The bullet’s still in there” is apparently a code derived from the Hip Hop lingo. And it’s most assuredly NOT telling these folks that there’s a “post racial” America. This is pretty damning. Some industrious researcher could do a nice article, expanding on the meaning of this phrase.

Also, the idea that inner cities ought to be able to access the taxes of the suburbs has been around for a very long time. For obvious reasons, the suburbs haven’t been receptive. Even the very liberal suburbs. I’m thinking this is something that ought to be incorporated into the conversations in Washington, D.C., Cleveland, Cincinati…White liberals are famous for advocating sacrifice…as long as it’s someone else doing the sacrificing. Like windmills off the Kennedy Compound or McLean’s very exclusive school system.

Really coming into this thread late, but…

Saw Looper movie last night, and an interesting plot point in the semi-apocalyptic future is the aftermath of the Vagrant Wars. Something likely to be coming to reality very soon.

Not to support the troll, but I almost, almost agree with him/her/it. This video is about as big of a blockbuster as Breitbart’s video of Obummer hugging/shouting-out some radical professor. Big woop.

Border agents have died under the Zero. Ambassadors have died under the Zero. Mexican teenagers have died under El Zero. I already knew Zero loved him some Rev. Wright. I already knew Zero was a racist with his “cops acted stupidly” and “a son like Trayvon” comments. I’m glad I was at the movies last night and not wasting my life watching Hannity.
