Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:01 am on October 1, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Barack Obama decided to give Americans a little straight talk in his weekly radio address on Saturday.  He’d like to solve a lot of problems, especially mortgage reform, but he can’t.  Why not? Congress is too busy campaigning, that’s why:

But we can do even more if Congress is willing to do their part.

Back in February I sent Congress a plan to give every responsible homeowner the chance to save about $3,000 a year on their mortgages by refinancing at lower rates. It’s a plan that has the support of independent, nonpartisan economists and leaders across the housing industry. But Republicans in Congress worked to keep it from even getting to a vote. And here we are — seven months later — still waiting on Congress to act.

This makes no sense. Last week, mortgage rates were at historic lows. But instead of helping more and more hardworking families take advantage of those rates, Congress was away on break. Instead of worrying about you, they’d already gone home to worry about their campaigns.

Not like our President!  It was just three weeks ago when the first American ambassador was killed in the line of duty in 33 years, in the first successful terrorist attack on an American diplomatic facility in 14 years.  Congress was in session at that time.  Did our President rush back to Washington to do his job?  Er, not exactly.  He blew off a national security briefing so that he could go to Las Vegas … because he was more worried about his campaign.

The hypocrisy is simply breathtaking.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

This from the guy who spent about 5 minutes in the Senate before starting his campaign for President. The last 10+ years of this turd’s life has been being paid by taxpayers for a job he won’t do, instead campaigning for the next higher taxpayer paid job he had no intention of doing.

wildcat72 on October 1, 2012 at 8:06 AM

Yet, his useful idiots eat it up.

It’s easy to do when you are a true believer.

tru2tx on October 1, 2012 at 8:07 AM

He is a compulsive liar and thanks to a complicit media he gets away with it.

If the media had a shred of integrity they would call this stuff out.

That he is getting away with it because the media isn’t calling him on it is more breathtaking IMO. Seriously, if a Republican had decided that getting out to Nevada to raise money instead of doing his damn job the media would have been howling. GWB was even taken to task for not immediately rushing to New Orleans after Katrina.

Yet, with the rat-eared coward, he told a series of lies about what happened in Libya and then went into full party/campaign mode. He goes to New York for the opening of the UN sesssion and blows off foreign leaders but not the fat liberal pigs of The View where he declares himself “eye candy.” This weekend marked the 2,000th casualty in Afghanistan who was killed by one of the individuals that we are supposedly training to maintain order in the region. Not a peep from the filthy bastard in the White House. Perhaps because the majority of those deaths happened during the surge that Obama ordered up after that photo-op at Dover AFB.

Come January 20 he will have all the time in the world to go on The View, to hang out with Jay-Z and Beyonce, go on exotic vacays and golf.

And no one will complain about it nor have any reason to. Because we won’t be paying for it.

Anyone else after seeing how great Barry is at crossing his legs femininely thought that he would make a great new female addition to The View?

I’m surprised he didn’t throw in a line about “I inherited this from the previous administration……” Still, it’s unbelievable this man can say the things he does and he doesn’t get called out.

The irony is that if Obama gets re-elected, all his whining about the previous administration (ie: 2009-2013) leaving him a mess would actually be true!

When he was in the Senate, Obama used his time (and our money) to take a trip to Africa. Wanted to see his “homeland” of Kenya and introduce the Mrs. to daddy’s relatives. Of course, he called it an official “fact finding” trip so that taxpayers could pick up the bill for his family’s sojourn to explore his roots.

Obama has been a corrupt and worthless POS all his life.

A small price to pay to be rid of this malevolent boil on the ass of the United States.

Ex-President Obama will have to learn to live off his book royalties again. Which I doubt will be booming since the unions and other political patrons won’t have any reason to keep buying them anymore. I also doubt Mooch will be able to “return” to that 300K/year “no show” job in Chicago.

Typical.

Maybe I’m missing something, but what’s stopping people from picking up the phone and going after those lower mortgage rates…on their own! Why do they need government help? To pay the points? Heck, I know more than a few people who didn’t pay anything to refinance.

Just more demagoguery from the anointed one.

NavyMustang on October 1, 2012 at 8:20 AM

It doesn’t matter what this puppet says.Obama is merely lip synching. Valerie Jarrett is doing the talking. If you look really closer you can see the strings, made of extremely thin fiber which make the arms, legs, head and even jaw move.

True enough but let’s also look at that from another angle. If lower mortgage rates was such a priority for the rat-eared coward. What stopped him from picking up the phone and strong-arming Congress. In other words, he needed to work with Congress and he did not. Instead he drops a totally worthless bill on Capitol Hill and then whines that Congresss isn’t passing his legislation. Had Mr. Obama been raised as an American he would know that isn’t how things work.

The LSM ONLY notices the homeless when a Republican is in office. A phenomenon Rush discovered during Bush I and Clinton.

There was almost nothing in the news he could do a “homeless update” on in the Clinton years, but they returned not long after Bush II took office!

You can bet that the LSM will try to make Romney own Obama’s horrid economic and unemployment numbers on 1/20/13. Indeed, they will try to make him own them even before he takes office!

Obama culturally comes from a place where if there is a legislature at all they are a purely ceremonial rubber stamp body, and Dear Leader’s edicts rule the day.

I doubt he had even one class about how the Constitutional process is supposed to work.

Yeah, he’s a Constitution scholar like Alinsky’s a Constitution scholar. The classes he lectured were more about critical theory, racism, and Alinsky than anything to do with the Constitution in substance.

petefrt on October 1, 2012 at 8:55 AM

But we can do even more if Congress is willing to do their part.

Speaking of doing their part, how about the main stream media in this Country; loving this quote from the NYT in one of the other headlines on HA this morning:

INVESTIGATIVE NEWS Journalists have already spent years delving into the backgrounds of Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama. But the digging continues, and there is still plenty of room for new revelations that could affect the outcome of the election.

Really NYT???? Seriously? You’ve delved into Obama’s background? It’s bad enough that they won’t do their job, but they have to brag that they are doing it, when they aren’t?

Sneering at the proles

My question: Has this guy ever gotten emotional about anything besides the Cambridge Police?

One of my friends went into deep thought about this guy and concluded that not only couldn’t he govern and act (like responding to our suffering and tragedies) the way he does unless he was contemptuous of, and hated this nation but he couldn’t even present the appearance he does without such attitudes and emotions.

Fasten your belts and hang on for the coming “flexibility”.

…Obama received 17 parking tickets in Cambridge between 1988 and 1991, mostly for parking in a bus stop, parking without a resident permit and failing to pay the meter, records from the Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation office show.

…Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, dismissed the tickets as not relevant.

“He didn’t owe that much and what he did owe, he paid,” Psaki said on Wednesday. “Many people have parking tickets and late fees. All the parking tickets and late fees were paid in full.”

No, I never heard about it, either.

Yeah, Obama will have a brief run as a “martyr” because the first half-black President was kicked out of office not because of his cataclysmic and abysmal record but because of RAAAAACISM!

Then he will be dropped as a “loser” like Carter was. Carter’s only relevancy in the 1980′s was Habitat for Humanity (a good thing and where he should have stayed). He didn’t become relevant again until the 1990′s when Clinton became President and he started meddling in foreign policy.

I know that Gov. Romney is getting all kinds of advice but if it were me, I would jump on this “politician” definition in a heart beat. If people don’t think this political campaign is being run well, it’s because he isn’t a politician, he is a businessman. A successful business man. One that realizes the prosperity depends on the well being of employees and employers because they are also the consumers. All these DC types are worrying about the next election and have left the American people behind with serious concerns about what tomorrow will bring.
