Personally, i couldn’t care less about lifting the standard of living for other countries. I don’t think most Americans do. Most want to take care of our country 1st.

If Romney wants to win this, he should focus on the WHY of his offshoring and propose real solutions to stop it.

yes! it makes me uncomfortable that people work in such conditions and that the only way we can “help them” is to have them work for us for nearly nothing. also, the video imagines a “local economy” which might not even be an option for many of those workers.
in general sweat shops are negatives! they are a clear sign of exploitation no matter if pragmatically they might be better than nothing.
also, the video did avoid the motivations of the sweat shop owners because the response is obvious. and in that sense, it does not help romney image.

It clearly isn’t “nearly nothing” to them.
The sweatshop is somehow worse if the workers don’t even have a local alternative? You’d rather they die in poverty?
It’s exploitation to make people wealthier than they could ever have been otherwise?
What is the worst case for the sweat shop owners’ motivations? They are looking to make a profit?

So, the American with the cushy lifestyle is “uncomfortable” that those living in other nations don’t have it so nice. These people work their way up the ladder that is currently available to them, not unlike what we do here. Our ladder is much taller than theirs, and that makes you uncomfortable. No worries there, Obama is making great progress in bringing our ladders down closer to their size, just give it time…or, throw the bum out.

O/T but had to tell you I thought of you today as I sat behind a huge FORD F150 waiting for a green light. The truck had a lid over the bed and the entire back was plastered with bumper stickers and clings that were anti Obama, anti Reid, anti Pelosi, anti Media and anti Clinton.

If offhsoring is a problem, it’s not because of the companies sending jobs overseas. It’s because of the government regulations that make sending jobs overseas so attractive from a business sense.
