Video: Preview of Univision’s “bombshell” report on Fast & Furious

posted at 5:31 pm on September 29, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

The Obama administration clearly hoped that the Department of Justice’s Inspector General report on Operation Fast and Furious would be the last word on the scandal. which has been tied to hundreds of deaths in Mexico and the murders of two American law-enforcement officials. However, a new report from Univision to be broadcast tomorrow, previewed here by ABC News, may put the issue back on the front pages. One source called Univision’s findings the “holy grail” that Congressional investigators have been seeking:

Often lost amid the rancor in Washington are the stories of dozens of people killed by guns that flowed south as part of the undercover operation, and later slipped out of view from U.S. officials. Univision’s Investigative Unit (Univision Investiga) has identified massacres committed using guns from the ATF operation, including the killing of 16 young people attending a party in a residential area of Ciudad Juárez in January of 2010.

The guns didn’t stop in Mexico, either:

Additional guns, previously unreported by congressional investigators, found their way into the hands of drug traffickers across Latin America in countries such as, Honduras and Colombia, as well as the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. A person familiar with the recent congressional hearings called Univision’s findings “the holy grail” that Congress had been searching for.

The Daily Caller also reports on Univision’s findings and the impact they may have on the scandal:

“The consequences of the controversial ‘Fast and Furious’ undercover operation put in place by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in 2009 have been deadlier than what has been made public to date,” the network said. “The exclusive, in-depth investigation by Univision News’ award-winning Investigative Unit — Univision Investiga — has found that the guns that crossed the border as part of Operation Fast and Furious caused dozens of deaths inside Mexico.”

Among other groups of Fast and Furious victim stories Univision says it will tell in the special to air Sunday evening at 7 p.m., is one about how “16 young people attending a party in a residential area of Ciudad Juárez in January of 2010″ were gunned down with weapons the Obama administration gave to drug cartel criminals through Fast and Furious.

“Univision News’ Investigative Unit was also able to identify additional guns that escaped the control of ATF agents and were used in different types of crimes throughout Mexico,” the network added. “Furthermore, some of these guns — none of which were reported by congressional investigators — were put in the hands of drug traffickers in Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Colombia. A person familiar with the recent congressional hearings called Univision’s findings ‘the holy grail’ that Congress had been searching for.”

Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News reminds us that the Obama administration is still hiding Kevin O’Reilly, a key figure in Operation Fast and Furious:

O’Reilly, then a White House National Security staffer, had phone and email exchanges about Fast and Furious from July 2010 to Feb. 2011 with the lead ATF official on the case: ATF Special Agent in Charge Bill Newell. Just days after Newell testified to Congress on July 26, 2011 that he’d shared information with O’Reilly, whom he described as a long time friend, O’Reilly was transferred to Iraq and not available for questioning. Thereafter, he declined interviews with congressional investigators and the IG.

In a letter sent to O’Reilly’s attorney Thursday, Issa and Grassley state that O’Reilly’s “sudden transfer” to Iraq took him out of pocket in their investigation, and placed him in a position that had already been given to somebody else, raising “serious questions about O’Reilly’s assignment in Baghdad (and) the motivation for his transfer there.” …

“Given that O’Reilly was the link connecting the White House to the scandal, and that the President subsequently asserted executive privilege over the documents pertaining to Fast and Furious, it is imperative that the American people get to the bottom of O’Reilly’s involvement with Fast and Furious,” says the letter to O’Reilly’s attorney.

It goes on to say that if O’Reilly does not agree to an interview within 30 days, congressional Republicans will have no choice but to “use compulsory process” or subpoena power to require his testimony.

The Univision report will air at 7 pm ET tomorrow night, with English-language subtitles.

For the past couple of weeks, all the real hard news has come from organizations based outside the country.

Univision is hammering Obama and continues to look into the bloodshed over F&F.

Al Jazeera demonstrated quite convincingly that no one in Benghazi had even heard of the stupid video only a day after the attack.

The only other news organization that has shown anything near journalistic integrity is run by an Australian expat!

These lazy and useful dupes in the American media must be brought to account by the people.

Do you remember the drug running angle to this???? There was a narcotrafficker that “had the run of the US” after getting greenlighted by the DHS. He may have facilitated the guns running south in exchange for drugs running north. I dunno, but he was suddenly snatched up and arrested to his chagrin.

ted c on September 29, 2012 at 6:54 PM

This is the first sound argument made yet in favor of offering amnesty on the grounds that there are jobs Americans won’t do.

It’s an absolute disgrace that a niche station that greatly caters to illegals (crunch the numbers: Total American Spanophones divided by estimated illegals = 1/4 to 1/3) has to do groundbreaking reporting on arguably the worst Presidential scandal in American history, while the institutional media sniffs its own armpit while styling themselves after Woodward and Bernstein for speaking truth to Republicans.

Nobody died during Watergate, which is mostly infamous for being infamous. The Plame scandal was a pantload, and even if it weren’t it would have been small potatoes. 70% of the nation supported the Iraq invasion for a vast list of reasons.

Here we have a President who (increasingly obviously even if you have your eyes closed and are humming) sanctioned supplying violent Mexican drug cartels with assault rifles in the hopes that they be used to kill U.S. citizens and drum up support for gun control.

Read that sentence again. The media? Not interested.

If it’s a solid report, Romney better throw hard, fast and inside. Enough with pussy-footing around when Obama is standing in mine field of his own making. Go after him on foreign policy and use facts and figures, such as the PMI, ISM etc to demonstrate he knows something about the economy and Obama doesn’t.

It likely will do at least that much. What I find interesting is that ABC is airing a promo of a competitor.

When is the last time you saw a network trying to kill its own entry in a time slot? Could it be that ABC is being “holdered” over SA’s work on this subject and is pushing back?

The mind reels at the possibility of a less-than-monolithic MSM.

Ignorantly, people in the Hispanic community (although everyone who legally lives in America needs to stop separating himself from society by ethnicity) will vote for Barack, including some so-called conservatives because of his pro-illegal alien platform. All America hears from illegal alien enablers is the plight of illegals and how outdated immigration laws are, even though the reality is immigration laws simply aren’t enforced. Why bring up immigration when talking about F&F? Because the flaw in the mentality of Barack supporters is this: Just as pro-illegal alien enablers are willing to overlook the murder of some 3,000 American citizens annually by illegal aliens, so, too, will they overlook this investigation about F&F and support a pro-illegal alien president.

Obozo’s administration is the most morally corrupt and dishonest in the history of this country. They send out their surrogates to lie to the American people and then when caught,… they lie about the lie. This administration either thinks the American people are fools or they are.

With Fast & Furious the Obozo administration tried to create an environment that would foment stricter gun sales regulation. To that end, Rep Elijah Cummings, the senior Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, claimed that it was lax gun sales regulations that “forced” ATF to dream up this gun walking scheme. He has not made this claim in a while, wonder if Obozo told him to dummy up. Either Rep. Cummings thinks the American people are fools or he is.

None of us including Obama can help who are parents were or whom they make us associate when we are young. It’s not his Mum who is at issue here, but Frank Marshall Davis, an avowed communist so dangerous at the time that if war had broken out with the Soviets, the feds would have thrown Davis in jail. Davis was Obama’s mentor and probably responsible for Obama’s far left leaning ways over these many years. By the way Obama wrote a poem about being sexually abused by a man …well, actually, Frank Davis wrote it.It’s called POP. In addition to being a pornographer Davis was a poet and regarded as a good one. He also liked to have sex with underaged girls and he wrote about that, too.

POP

Sitting in his seat, a seat broad and broken
In, sprinkled with ashes
Pop switches channels, takes another
Shot of Seagrams, neat, and asks
What to do with me, a green young man
Who fails to consider the
Flim and flam of the world, since
Things have been easy for me;
I stare hard at his face, a stare
That deflects off his brow;
I’m sure he’s unaware of his
Dark, watery eyes, that
Glance in different directions,
And his slow, unwelcome twitches,
Fail to pass.
I listen, nod,
Listen, open, till I cling to his pale,
Beige T-shirt, yelling,
Yelling in his ears, that hang
With heavy lobes, but he’s still telling
His joke, so I ask why
He’s so unhappy, to which he replies…
But I don’t care anymore, cause
He took too damn long, and from
Under my seat, I pull out the
Mirror I’ve been saving; I’m laughing,
Laughing loud, the blood rushing from his face
To mine, as he grows small,
A spot in my brain, something
That may be squeezed out, like a
Watermelon seed between
Two fingers.
Pop takes another shot, neat,
Points out the same amber
Stain on his shorts that I’ve got on mine, and
Makes me smell his smell, coming
From me; he switches channels, recites an old poem
He wrote before his mother died,
Stands, shouts, and asks
For a hug, as I shrink, my
Arms barely reaching around
His thick, oily neck, and his broad back; ’cause
I see my face, framed within
Pop’s black-framed glasses
And know he’s laughing too.

Since I use several computer setups from several different locations to access HA I’ve noticed various wacky behaviors from HA web pages as those load.

The “content encoding error” used to be far less frequent; mostly on weekends and late evening. The flash popups are much more common since about last Thursday. The browser freezes have happened more often when changes to the HA page were made sometime in early August. For a weekend or so one could sign in on the main page but not be able to post in the headlines section but one could sign in on the headlines section and post in both headlines and the main topics.

The screen gray-outs some may be seeing here lately appear to be caused by “interclick.com”. Whether that’s a popup which goes nowhere and fizzles out I have yet to determine.

BWAHAHAHAhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t be absurd! Tracking devices are only for guns you want to track and retrieve (along with their new ‘owners’) before they are used to murder people.

It was always intended that those guns be used in murders – and then dropped at the scene (as per agreement with the cartels) so that they could be traced back to the US. That way, further restrictions could be put on guns and their owners to ‘prevent gunrunning to Mexico’.

What type(s) of tracking device(s) was placed on each weapon allowed to leave the United States under F&F?

BKeyser on September 29, 2012 at 5:41 PM

None. The much-earlier President George W. Bush program tried that, but found that the devices were too easily found or disabled. This is why that program was terminated early without useful results.

Little Bammie’s F&F only accomplishes something in theory when a Mexican dies, so the ‘tracking device’ if you can call it that, is the Mexican government communicating with the ATFE and relaying a serial number from the weapon.

Univision is on basic cable.

Watch it Sunday evening!! The ratings will deliver the message to the MSM.

PattyJ on September 29, 2012 at 9:38 PM

Why wait 30 days? Delay, delay, delay. It makes me question the bona fides of those making the inquiries.

Yep, Channel 14 on my Commiecast, program called ‘Aqui y Ahora’ and in the details it says ‘Rapido y Furioso’. 7pm.

slickwillie2001 on September 29, 2012 at 10:59 PM

Univision, The Daily Mail and others are showing the alphabets what pussies they are when it comes to obama.

ted c on September 29, 2012 at 11:19 PM

Univision, huh. I guess this story wasn’t important enough for the NY Times.

rrpjr on September 30, 2012 at 1:05 AM

I want the answer to one particular question regarding F&F:

What type(s) of tracking device(s) was placed on each weapon allowed to leave the United States under F&F?

BKeyser on September 29, 2012 at 5:41 PM

There weren’t any. The only way they know where those guns are is when they show up at crime scenes. GW Bush’s program did put tracking devices on theirs, but they were found and that is why that program was cancelled. Obama didn’t care where they were, as long as enough people were killed to be able to say we need tighter gun laws to prevent this type of thing.

Now it’s getting REALLY dirty: Outrageous film claiming Obama’s mother once posed for pornographic pictures is sent to a MILLION swing voters

JPeterman on September 29, 2012 at 6:27 PM

LOL! I don’t even care if it’s true, as long as it gets all those liars in the democrat campaign worked up.

Haim Saban / his company own Univision.

He is an Egyptian Jew whose family moved to Israel when he was young. He is now ensconced in Beverly Hills and is a big donator to Democratic party causes.

Here’s the interesting part – He was a huge Hillary Clinton supporter in 2008 and a FOB during the 1990′s.

Payback? Getting ready for 2016?

Greyledge Gal on September 30, 2012 at 8:04 AM

I have many Latino friends and just shared the info on FB encouraging them to watch this documentary and then come up with their own conclusion why Holder and Obama are in complete stonewall-mode. There is no plausible reason other than they have blood on their hands.

hillsoftx on September 30, 2012 at 8:23 AM

How can this be???? We have been told for the last 3+ years that all Hispanic love Obama.

logman1 on September 30, 2012 at 8:46 AM

How long before O’Reilly is posted to Benghazi to do work that nobody else in the admin is capable of doing? He’ll be there before the ink is dry on Issa’s subpoena. Of course, the empty chair did tell Univision that this program was started under Boooosh.

Kissmygrits on September 30, 2012 at 9:13 AM

Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a free press? If we did this would have been featured years ago on all 3 networks.

Capitalist Infidel on September 30, 2012 at 9:22 AM

October surprise, one day early!

Susanboo on September 30, 2012 at 9:29 AM

I am willing to bet that something will “coincidentally” happen on that day that will distract attention away from the report.

It will slide down the memory hole without a trace.

Texene on September 30, 2012 at 10:12 AM

I guess now that Univision is on the job we can sit back and wait for the flood of coverage on all the other networks. I bet Katie Couric & Brian Williams are working on it as we speak. Sure.
Hundreds dead and for the sake of their politics the media scum are trying to cover for Obama.

arand on September 30, 2012 at 10:13 AM

Two phrases should stick to Barack Obama’s name in perpetuity: Fast and Furious, and the Benghazi consulate attack.

RebeccaH on September 30, 2012 at 10:35 AM

If I were the owner of Univision and a Hillary supporter, I’d be pretty ticked off too.

The guy knows ratings: how do you think Mexicans feel about the slaughter down there? Like the teens shot to death at the party? Our media doesn’t care b/c it will hurt The One. They’re expendable.

PattyJ on September 30, 2012 at 10:42 AM

Make no mistake about it:

THE TRAIL LEADS DIRECTLY TO THE RESOLUTE DESK OF BARACK OBAMA.

That is the only plausible explanation for the stonewalling of Eric Holder – superiors do not take the fall for their underlings.

This entire debacle was dreamed up in the Oval Office.

Wait and see…

bofh on September 30, 2012 at 11:07 AM

Holder already received his stay-out-of-jail card in the report that exonerated him.
As for the election, will this report even mention President Fake & Spurious much less implicate him?
I doubt it.
Hispanic voters won’t make the connection on their own.

Karl Magnus on September 30, 2012 at 11:26 AM

Obama just recently nominated for an “Ambassadorship,” the WIFE of the OWNER of “Univision!” Was he hoping to squelch this report, by doing so??? Or is this FACT telling us that the Univision report will be “watered-down????” Univision’s investigative report will be very interesting to see, in lieu of the “Ambassadorship!”

DixT on September 30, 2012 at 11:33 AM

Ambassadorship you say?
If the report so much as mentions President Fast & Spurious you can bet your jizya tax it’ll be in some god-forsaken muslim hellhole.

Yephora on September 30, 2012 at 11:43 AM

Well congrats, this post is linked up on Drudge this morning. That guarantees a bazillion views. Wish that it would guarantee voters would pay attention.

scalleywag on September 30, 2012 at 11:57 AM

You know that even IF (big if) Romney uses this information in the debates, the MSM will cast it as a lie or a gaffe and laugh it off, then ignore it. It doesn’t matter what Obama does, he will be protected and heralded as the debate “winner” and all his own gaffes and failures will be ignored.

Decoski on September 30, 2012 at 11:58 AM

If it’s a solid report, Romney better throw hard, fast and inside.

SPIN

Every one of the 2 billion liberals who argue with me deflect F & F.

They just say President Bush started it.

Well, if they do it to you just explain that the prior administration made every effort to keep the weapons under surveillance.

Also they ended their program some 18 months before these hi jinx.

Not the same program.

IlikedAUH2O on September 30, 2012 at 12:15 PM

One of their other favorites is that the US is the source of the weapons in Mexico killing scores of people.

You can look this up.

I have to go through as many gyrations as I do when answering the Obama’s Healthcare is just a plan “Heritage” the conservative think tank, developed.

I agree w you that Obama Sr is not the father but I don’t think FMD is either, look at comparisons between Obama Jr and Malcolm X. To me, that is the only scenario that would make sense as to why so many people have helped Obama along the way. The education, the travel, the elections. A lot of people would be interested in helping the illegitimate son of Malcolm X. The illegitimate son of a Kenyan “intellectual” – not so much IMHO.

Any ABC video on the HA threads, lock my computers up. Script Error. 2 laptops/1Dsktp all the same. Cannot exit the HA thread nor the Script Error Window that pops up. Task Manager takes all open Windows & the HA thread down. Constant Townhall on all HA threads and sometimes when going to next page or refreshing a page on a HA thread that doesn’t have the ABC/Script Error issue.

Since I’m on the Univision thread, I’m sure this won’t post, so will copy it and see if I can post it elsewhere.

I don’t know if it’s the ABC Player or bad code causing all of this.

Hope Ed or AP or TH can fix this soon!!
