Team O to young people: Be sure to warn your grandparents about that Mitt Romney character

posted at 12:41 pm on September 28, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Just what we’ve all been waiting for — now I can send intellectually cheap, platitudinous, pre-packaged falsehoods from Obama’s messaging team to my friends and family, in a simple e-card! Life = made.

I have to hand it to them: Their graphics people are kinda’ excellent. But, the messaging? Not so much, my friends. Fresh from the Obama campaign:

Photobucket

Wow — pretty brazen of them to try to mobilize young people to save a program that said young people are currently paying into hand-over-fist, that will not be around for them, because it is fundamentally and undeniably insolvent. President Obama has made approximately zero major moves to address the glaring and obvious problem of Social Security. He has no real plan to reform it, and his minions don’t really care to talk about it — and he wants really young people to convince their (presumably stubborn, curmudgeonly, irascibly conservative) elders to re-elect him? Bold strategy, guys — and if it works, doesn’t really say much for the youths, does it? But, where exactly are they getting this tax-hike on Social Security thing? Per Politico:

“Romney’s $5 trillion tax cut plan will either drive up the deficit or raise middle-class taxes and – if these tax increases are made across the board – an average middle-class senior could pay $460 more in taxes on his or her benefits,” the campaign said in a statement. …

Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg emails this response: “Only one candidate in this race has a ‘plan’ to keep social security from going bankrupt by raising taxes, and that’s Barack Obama.  His failure to lead on this critical issue means that seniors face a 25% across-the-board cut in benefits.  In contrast, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have outlined a plan to save and strengthen Social Security that does not raise taxes and ensures that middle-class seniors receive all of the benefits they’ve earned.”

Could Team Obama’s math in the above statement be any more hilariously contrived? Heaven forbid we actually cut spending to bring down the deficit, reform Social Security into a fiscally solvent program, and cut taxes; and if you really want to talk about rising costs for seniors, hello — raiding Medicare? ObamaCare taxes and rising health-care prices? Anyone?

But if you really want to be galled beyond belief, head on over to the “Women”-themed selection of fabulous e-cards, ’cause that’s where the fun begins:

I think my head may have just exploded.

Yawwwwwwn,

Wait until the limits get imposed under ObamaCare and the term “end of life” care gets defined.

Won’t have to worry about Medicare when you impose a $48,000 limit like Rattner mentioned this past weekend in the NYT. How long do you think it will take to go through $48,000?

This ObamaCare program is a greater threat to individual liberty and the future of this country than anything we’ve faced since WWII.

We all better learn to be self-sufficient in a hurry because that teat on the Federal sow is going to dry up pretty quick. And just wait and see how the country REALLY gets transformed if Obama gets a 2nd term and we wind up with an unrestrained Presidency in a financial crisis.

God help us.

Social Security is already taxed. I have no idea where this idea that Social Security is a tax-free income comes from. Seriously. That’s a flat out lie. Like all income, if together it brings the yearly total to a certain level, it’s taxed.

NoVAHockey on September 28, 2012 at 1:06 PM

if you really want to talk about rising costs for seniors, hello — raiding Medicare? ObamaCare taxes and rising health-care prices? Anyone?

Obama cut $716 Billion — nearly 3/4 of a Trillion Dollars — from Medicare but they tell old people they don’t have to worry, because the hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of cuts are only to Medicare providers, so the cuts won’t affect Medicare recipients — and the bobblehead MSM dutifully report this nonsense as fact.

So don’t worry, granny. The federal government is cutting 3/4 of a Trillion dollars in Medicare reimbursements to doctors and hospitals, but it won’t hurt your Medicare benefits, granny. No, those doctors and hospitals will keep providing you with the exactly the same level of benefits you’ve been getting, and they’ll just make up the missing 3/4 Trillion dollars from their petty cash funds, or collect extra change from the sofa cushions, or set up some lemonade stands out front, or some such.

But hey granny, even if your Medicare benefits do take a substantial hit (and they will) because of the Obamacare cuts, at least you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re paying more for fewer Medicare benefits for a good reason: so your slutty granddaughter can get “free” birth control, and unemployed illegal aliens (excuse me, newly legalized “dreamers”) can get taxpayer-financed health insurance.

Save Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid, get rid of Granny at age 65. It’s a logical plan, makes financial sense.

Pity that Grandparents are going to be faced with a surgery consultation that says “yeah, you can have that heart bypass surgery but Medicare will has reclassified this as “end of life” care and they will only pay $45,000 and it costs $100,000. Do you have the other $55,000?” “Oh, you don’t sorry………next patient please.”

The real issue here is that the American people are possibly stupid enough for something like this to have impact. Were we a more intelligent, less misled, people, the entire obama campaign would functionally collapse into the moral shambles it already is.

Were my mother still alive, had I approached her with this she would take me to the verbal woodshed in no uncertain terms. She lived long enough to see obama’s election, and it was most unfortunate in her view. I wish that her daughter, my older sister, had shared in her good sense.

Romney’s $5 trillion tax cut plan will either drive up the deficit or raise middle-class taxes and

How does politico know this? Did Romney say he’d raise middle-class taxes and oh, btw, is there still a middle class?

And bless their hearts, those misguided young-uns over at the Ovirtuous campaign, trying to appear so bent on principle and purity, decency and honor. Unfortunately the stench of Demsperation seems to be clouding the air over there.

This is just so infuriating that I can’t type what I want because it wouldn’t get posted!!!

What parent would feel proud to be asked by their whore daughter for 18k so they can go spread…well a lot of things?!?!?

They are going with what they know, the Nazi/Stalinst Marxist Art Nouveau affect. I mean, after all, it worked so well for Hitler Stalin and Mao…

SWalker on September 28, 2012 at 1:04 PM

I had the exact same reaction. There was an Obama poster in 2008 that came across exactly like a 1930s resurrection of the 1910s-era Art Deco sensibility. It was like going straight past FDR to FDR’s commsymp brain trust, and the whole Western-left romance with Stalin and Hitler and the intellectual heritage of political Marxism.

It’s like these people have no new material.

$18,000……..and that’s just the starter kit.

Yes, the seniors paid into Medicare for much of their lives, but they also take out more than they paid in.

LOL! Yet, obviously lacks the business sense or class of the ‘Gold Rush prostitute’, since the prostitute gave fair service for a fair rate.

Parents who are trash, aka Obama voters.

matthew8787 on September 28, 2012 at 1:32 PM

Can Romney please run ads calling Obama a liar.

Just run ads with what Obama says, and a huge stamp going “LIE” over it.

Finish by saying that the President has to resort to lying about the record because he has failed the American people.

How am I more creative than the “professionals” that are working for Romneys campaign?

Why cant Romney pretend this is Bain taking over a failing company, and do what he would do in that situation – fight to save the company, not pretend the failing CEO is a good guy who is in over his head, and not fight to save the company from bankruptcy.

Meanwhile, Romney is campaigning in Pennsylvania, which is not a good sign for the Obama campaign:

Actually that is exactly what he is doing. In a successful business takeover the last thing you want to do is portray the previous CEO and senior management as evil or corrupt because doing so means making the remaining senior management and everyone below them hostile to the takeover.

It’s not just the very old that will be struck down by Death Panels, it will also be the very young. It should not suprise us that a political movement that puts no value on an unborn baby will also not value a small child.

Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first drive mad.

Obama is now putting the gun to his head by alienating the old folks. This is the first sign of class warfare…and madness.

(I wonder how much smoke will come out of his hair.)

Dear Kids,

That Friend of yours Eddie Haskell.. no no, Barry Obama, he’s lying to you. He wants so badly to keep his job that he’s unwilling to tell you just how much money he’s blown with his poor choices. Someday, when you grow up, you’ll understand how badly he has fooled you. Just know, I’ll always love you, and make the hard decisions to fix the messes as best I can. I love you enough to let you be angry with me.

And then there’s the business with borrowing $18K for birth control. What could you possibly spend $18K on? The straight-line implications don’t bear thinking about.

J.E. Dyer on September 28, 2012 at 1:44 PM

if these tax increases are made across the board – an average middle-class senior could pay $460 more in taxes on his or her benefits,” the campaign said in a statement. …

Even if true, I’m a middle class senior and I have no problem with this. I guess that I’m one of the few who actually care about what we leave to our children and grand children. Most seniors are selfish old farts who are only concerned with themselves. Most believe that they’re entitled to free stuff much like the lazy segment of the lower class. Soon, our economy will implode and the moochers will be left with no free stuff, no job and no hope. Then, they will all wish that they have saved and/or made something of themselves. Our descendants will still be stuck with the bill of our collective narcissism.
