Allen West ad: Hey, guess where I was while my opponent was drunk and disorderly?

posted at 2:41 pm on September 28, 2012 by Mary Katharine Ham

Col. Allen West leads Democrat Patrick Murphy by 11 points in the latest polling on Florida’s 18th Congressional District, 52-41. The poll was commissioned by West, and shows progress over a Murphy-commissioned poll from August, which showed the race statistically tied. The poll has a 4.9 percent margin of error.

West is also leading his opponent in ad buys, tripling Murphy’s allotment, according to the Roll Call:

A Democratic source familiar with the buys in the district said West’s campaign was up with 1,400 gross rating points of television from Sept. 25 through Oct. 1 and was booked for 1,600 points from Oct. 2-8.

Murphy’s campaign, a pro-Democratic super PAC and a pro-Allen West super PAC are all also on air right now, but with less of a presence.

Murphy’s campaign had, according to the Democratic source, 450 points of TV through Oct. 1 and 500 points Oct. 2-8.

This is what some of that ad time will look like. Allen released a 30-second ad today hitting Murphy for a 2003 arrest after a night drinking in a South Beach bar, during which he had an altercation with a police officer. The ad uses military-style graphics, a “24″ feel, and the help of Murphy’s mugshot to answer the question: Where was Col. Allen West the night Murphy was arrested. The tagline:

“Two men, a country in crisis, you decide.”

Funny subject matter and mugshots aside, as well as West’s rock-star status with conservatives, this is a hot-looking ad. More, please.

H/t Weekly Standard for the video.

Left Coast Right Mind on September 28, 2012 at 7:15 PM

A+++++

And the first of the “Narnia” series was written over 60 years ago, so isn’t exactly recent history.

To me, the best of Dante’s Religion was on display in June of 2011 in the Canadian city of Vancouver, after my Boston Bruins beat the Canucks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Classy display, that!

Is this before or after he would rough up arrested Iraqi’s and fire guns next to their heads?

The problem seems to be he did not cut their heads off and record it, like muslims do.

Well obviously the Iraqi wasn’t read his Miranda Rights, and did not have an attorney present during questioning. Also, loud, scary noises are in violation of the Geneva Conventions. Speaking above a whisper is borderline, and a gunshot is right out.

I remember when this happened. I even stopped donating to West at this time and put him in Rubio’s camp…they sound really good, but they vote against Conservatives on critical issues.

In my view..

anarcho-capitalism is just as alien and malignant as the philosphy of Marx.. and little different from their property is “theft” Marxist-anarchist brothers..

It’s an enemy ideology, one which I’d join an armed rebellion, insurgency to fight to the death, if it were ever imposed by those who see themselves as our “betters” like Dante.. a moot point,.. because nobody will willingly adopt a philosophy of governing where the big dogs crush anyone who gets in their way.

mark81150 on September 28, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Your view is both wrong and ignorant. Anarcho-capitalism is based upon prperty rights, natural rights, the free market, voluntary relationships, and the non-agression principle.

Dante on September 28, 2012 at 9:11 PM

I think ads should be about substantive issues, and not this silliness. The second greatest conservative of the 20th century, Winston Churchill, had quite a few character flaws but he was an awesome leader of the UK in World War II.

Dante on September 28, 2012 at 9:11 PM

Free markets require laws to protect property rights and deter fraud — and those laws must be enforced by a third party. “Relationships” are an unrelated social construct (though parentage requires paternity laws to function), and there is no such thing as “non-aggression”, as aggression is required to protect rights.

triple on September 29, 2012 at 5:04 AM

Sure… if you define “torture” as making an Iraqi BOMB MAKER wet his pants without actually doing him grievous harm you halfwit…

He wasn’t “thrown out”.. he simply retired and resigned his commission rather than deal with the PC police who run the highest levels of the Pentagon… Political generals gunning for that 4th star by hanging warriors who are effective to appease the Obama “bombing civilian villages and killing innocents” muslim mutual love and admiration societies..

The Pentagon has hundreds of flag officers who’s only claim to fame, is in non-combat roles like supply and support units.. never a day in combat in 30 years.. but they sure know who’s azz to kiss… and Obama loves him those nail biters.. He actively seeks out the few pants wetting liberal officers.. who’d rather loose a hundred men in action, then so much as break a nail on an Iraqi bombmaker who butchers more Iraqi’s than Americans..

You’re a phucking moron..

There’s hardly a vet who was in a combat unit that wouldn’t GLADLY serve under Col. West.. He put their lives ahead of the risk of his own career,.. by breaking a small rule that combat units saw as sacrificing their lives on the altar of liberal sensitivities..

but you, you azz would cry crocodile tears if West had done nothing and simply played it safe for his career, and sent home dozens more of his men under flag draped coffins..

and just blamed Boooooosh… and carried your, “support the troops who frag their officers” idiot protest signs.. to your next code pink rally..

scum like you deserve no protection.. you whine about how it’s done.. even when the spirit of the law was obeyed, if not the strict legalities.. that Iraqi suffered no long term harm.. and went to a prison.. run by other Iraqi’s..

But he was SCARED by that mean ol West…

P*ss on your sensibilities.. you have NO IDEA what is done to protect your lil pink azz, but you’ll whine about it.. if that officer later runs in the GOP..

but if he ran as a democrat.. you’d be just fine with it… douche bag.

mark81150 on September 29, 2012 at 6:32 AM

Dante.. You believe this… and have the gall to call me ignorant?

You’re a halfwit..

For defense organizations to have the right incentives, most people, or at least most people with something to protect and ability to pay, must sign up in advance, and for most people to sign up in advance, institutions for protecting those that have not signed up in advance (heroes, vigilantes looking to build a reputation, charities, and commercial defense agencies doing pro bono work) cannot be overly effective. Predation on those that have not signed up has to be a serious problem, so that someone who declines to sign up with one group or another needs to devote unusual effort to self defense, and effort to building a reputation that he is willing to resist aggression and predation. Having a decal proving you have committed in advance to an organization that is committed in advance to avenging you has to be worth something, in order that people have incentives to make the necessary commitments, which means that not having such a decal has to cost something. Too much pro bono work by well intentioned heroes would undermine the system. There needs to significantly less justice and security for those that are not signed up, in order that individual people individually have incentive to make the necessary payments and commitments – which means there needs to be significant semi tolerated predation on those who merely have by-the-incident protection.

My God, you’re delusional… the very material of these anarchist-capitalists line for line proves what I said about this alien view point..

http://jim.com/anarchy/

aside from the fact, NONE of this has ever been done outside of academic theory… your own side says… if you don’t pay “protection money to the right people”.. folks should not just let it happen, but actively work against other people helping you on their own..

a very feral.. Lord of the flies” society.. and you’re too drunk on it to see the the contradictions and mindless insanity of it.

what are you? 16?……………. it’s a nutjob theory.

mark81150 on September 29, 2012 at 6:43 AM

Romney should put one of these together exposing some of Obama’s friends. Make him talk about Bill Ayers again. I’m getting disgusted with the Romney campaign. It’s so much more than just jobs. Talk to me about liberty! Give us liberty and we will have jobs! Every freaking prison in America gives jobs to their inmates. A job does not equal freedom.

I just do not get this. Here Obama begins his political campaign out of Bill Ayer’s home and it’s just ignored. A freaking terrorist is friends with Obama and the GOP won’t touch it. Democrats want to put Bush on trial and will if they can get away with it and the GOP ignores the radicals on the left.

I think often of Thomas Sowell’s quote “When it comes down to the barbarians verses the wimps.. the barbarians are going to win.”

How about this for a new ad (West style)……for Romney?

It leads in dark…….you hear the sound of a vacuum and a grinder and muffled voices, then you see the words “He proudly supported this”. Then you hear the cry of a baby. And the screen fades in as you see a newborn flailing around on a tray. A nurse comes over to help and leans over to help the baby, and the doctor reaches over and stops her (no adult faces are seen). Then the screen goes black again and the words come up ” but he didn’t support helping this child and others like her struggling to survive.”

And then you have the video come up that has Obama say “I don’t want my daughters punished with a baby”.

Then it could fade to black with some text about his support of Infanticide in Illinois, and now, etc.

aside from the fact, NONE of this has ever been done outside of academic theory…

I would disagree that it has never been tried. Every new society begins this way by its very nature and eventually some form of official government arises by force or by voluntary necessity.

your own side says… if you don’t pay “protection money to the right people”.. folks should not just let it happen, but actively work against other people helping you on their own..

This is the essentially the same concept as belonging to a particular nation. However, instead of calling it “protection money,” they call it, ‘taxes.’ It would not take long before an anarchic-capitalist society was set up before it either fell apart, or became indistinguishable from every other official government upon the face of the earth. We already do have a free-market society set up in the earth. If you are unhappy with the ‘protection group’ (nation) you belong to, simply move to another country and apply for citizenship with them.

Does the definition of torture change based on whom is being tortured?

No. I don’t think it does. That’s what people who break the rules say to excuse their lack of respect for our country and what it stands for. Even rapists and pedophiles have the right to a fair trial and humane treatment.

The military kicked west out. But apparently he’s good enough to serve in congress? Shouldn’t congress have higher standards?

That’s a pretty bad Jack Nicholson impression. Life is not a movie, and West is not Jack Bauer.

Americans don’t torture.

There are more reasons for this besides “liberal sensibilities”.

We don’t torture because we’re a nation based on laws, not emotion.

We don’t torture because we’d lose our right to demand the same of our soldiers, in the field.

We don’t torture because it gives yet another reason for the enemy to demonize us in their propaganda campaigns – and if we did torture, they’d have a point.

But people like you are too shortsighted to see the bigger picture. You think some random bomb maker is worth PISSING AWAY the ideals this country was FOUNDED ON.

(for starters, firing a pistol near an Iraqi Bombmaker does not rise to the level of torture.)

And while I’m spouting, your statement “The military kicked West out” is factually incorrect. Does it bother you to be wrong? Must not, as you appear to be wrong a lot.
