Oh, goody: Get excited for this major motion picture about fracking

posted at 1:21 pm on September 27, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Because I’m just so wildly fond of celebrities using their pop-cultural platforms to ‘educate’ others on complex economic and environmental issues that they don’t actually understand at all, you can probably guess just how excited I am about this little gem of intellectual dishonesty, courtesy of Matt Damon and our enlightened Brahmin in Tinseltown, due to hit theaters this December. Hint: Promised Land basically looks like the brazenly deceitful Gasland “documentary,” remade into a fictional storyline.

Ah, yes, all the usual idiotic environmentalist themes are there, meant to play upon our emotions without actually committing to facts or critical thinking: Greed, corporations, people over profits, killing the land, ruining communities, dirty money, and etcetera. I’m merely going to respond to this film clip with a couple more film clips, and a question: While overwhelming evidence suggests that hydraulic fracturing is in fact reviving small-town America, why is it that no celebrity has stepped up to make a major movie about the environmentalists’ conservation movement impoverishing rural Americans and forcing private individuals off of their land? Because that’s where the real story is.

I said this on another site, but I’m going to put it here again. Recently one of the big names in Hollywood was going to shoot a movie in my neighborhood (San Juan, PR). So they bought the old, historic house across the road from my house – directly across. In rolled the diesel-powered earth movers and knocked it down. Then they went up two houses and bought the old historic condo on the corner. In came the huge earth movers and knocked that down. Then came the flatbed trucks. In the lot across the road from me went two absolutely enormous diesel generators. In the lot up the road rolled in trailer after trailer of equipment and crew trailers. Then they started shooting and for the next four months came the numbing racket of the diesel generators day and night, the stench of diesel fumes, the huge white dudes in big black SUV’s checking my ID as I came and went from my own house. The night lit up with their intense set lights whether they were shooting or not. Two weeks ago I saw that same celebrity with her hand over her heart for Obama, and on it written “Renewable Energy.” That’s all you need to know about her and her commitment to solar-powered movie shoots.

JoseQuinones on September 27, 2012 at 1:33 PM

I’m sure this will be a completely nonpartisan film in which fracking is just the background to a witty romance and clever mystery.

Those who know about Alinsky, and his use of the lie to further Communism, should expect the same from one of his malignant disciples – this being a reference [for once] to Damon and not The Commie.

Unfortunately, 99% if the filth who voted for The Commie have never heard of Alinsky, and the other 1% don’t give a damn about the use of lies to further their malignancy.

So, I guess that this movie is a push.

We can probably find out the list of “producers” in IMDB, they are the ones piping money into this. Money making wise, they make it up on other movies, it all averages out and I am sure Comrade Damon will then make a movie or two for them to recoup what’s lost on this one. Unfortunately.

Hard Right on September 27, 2012 at 1:48 PM

This movie may be a stinker, but don’t get cocky, kid.

There are at least two anti-frac documentaries in the pipeline (pun intended: SANDLAND and THE PRICE OF SAND.

The goal is to cut off the supply of “frac sand”, which is found in abundance in the Mississippi River bluff country in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.

Environmentalists are winning the local battles to place moratoriums on frac-sand mining, thereby “starving” the gas fracking industry.

The StarTribune (Mpls)and Rochester MN papers are already setting the table for the anti-frac activists.

Ignore this at your peril.

Mary in LA on September 27, 2012 at 1:40 PM

It depends on what you call “making money” – Box office receipts are dismal – however, like the music industry – a majority of these “revenue streams” are preset – via media distribution to on demand/redbox/hulu/iTunes/cable channels, etc.

i.e. – a fixed dollar amount.

Box office receipts is a low indicator now – hence the crap coming out from Hollywood doing horribly – then ending up in the “$2″ bin box at Walmart.

Just like Academy winners. The Artist barely took in $20M in box office receipts, yet was deemed “major award winners” – largely due to Harvey Weinstein’s deals for post box office distribution at a fixed cost. And he owns/partners in several media companies.

Watch it again :-) It starts with birds losing their sense of orientation, etc. Polar shift then leads to rapid freezing, as it will in some regions of the planet. Ancient maps of the planet clearly show VERY CORRECT outline of Antarctica, continent that didn’t exist for us until very recent times, scientists (and historians) still “can’t explain” (I see nothing!) how maps such as these exist. Google “Mercator map” and go from there, its not the only one, but best known one. Columbus, and Vikings before him, did not sail into the “unknown” as our idiot science community wants us to believe, they knew exactly where they are going.

Movie script writers did not explain the premise properly and only gave viewers hints, but what’s new in in the land of communist Hollywood.

I am not defending the movie, simply pointing out the premise. Magnetic polar shift is a real deal, we are due another one, actually. Last one was roughly 12,500 years ago, Bible’s deluge is the most likely thing that transpired in the process.

Eh, it’s frackin’ Hollywood. Who gives a frack? Frack ‘em all. (adjective, noun, verb — did I miss any?)

How about an adverb?

You missed the link Ace had (yesterday?) on this… funny stuff.

I broke the news that “Promised Land” was about fracking and now I can reveal that the script’s seen some very hasty rewriting because of real-world evidence that anti-fracking activists may be the true villains.

In courtroom after courtroom, it has been proved that anti-fracking activists have been guilty of fraud or misrepresentation.

So, according to sources close to the movie, they’ve come up with a solution — suggest that anti-fracking fraudsters are really secret agents employed by the fossil-fuel industry to discredit the environmental movement.

In the revised script, Damon exposes Krasinski as a fraud — only to realize that Krasinski’s character is working deep undercover for the oil industry to smear fracking opponents.

Not only is it a turkey, it’s a turkey they’re having to modify shortly before release because their entire initial argument failed, and they have to find SOME way to blame BIG OIL!!!!

This may be bad enough to be a cult movie classic, if they’re very lucky.

While overwhelming evidence suggests that hydraulic fracturing is in fact reviving small-town America

That’s why they hate it.

Wow, Hal Holbrook is still alive?

I’ve gotta add him to my Dead Pool for this year.

And if we somehow think this movie is bad the new “Last Resort” on ABC is for out and out IDIOTS. I really hope they cancel this crap ASAP, its a slap, no, make it a hard punch, on our military. These actors are dead to me now.

Sadly, McCarthy and McCarran did not finish the job. Sadly…

What Jurassic Park should have taught everyone:
—Recreating building-sized predators with patched-up DNA is a Bad Idea.
—Using electric fences as the means of containing them with a single-point-of-failure power source is astoundingly foolish.
—Having no lethal-security options better than small arms for stopping “meat tanks” is in direct violation of the human survival instinct.

And those are just the biggest failures I can remember right off the top of my head. You wouldn’t have gotten me anywhere near the park even if the disaster had never happened.
