Cutter: 12 million jobs under Obama’s next four years is “not a promise, that’s reality”

posted at 7:25 pm on September 26, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

This morning, Team Romney released an ad in which Mitt pointed to President Obama’s repeated failures on creating jobs, lifting people out of poverty, and helping the middle class. Towards the end of the 60-second spot, Romney also claimed that his own plan will help to create 12 million new jobs over the next four years — a claim with which Obama deputy campaign manager took umbrage on MSNBC this morning because, apparently, even with things staying as they are, that’s the number of jobs economists are predicting will be created anyways. Or something. Via the WFB:

TODD: …I’ve not been able to get any kind of pledge. So you believe that’s the president’s promise, twelve million jobs?

CUTTER: That’s not a promise, that’s reality. That is what is forecasted by economists that would be created over the next four years on the path that we’re on. Now, we can do better than that, but…

Well, seeing as how our economic growth rate has been nothing short of pitiful; and what with all of those ill-thought-out, job-killing, burdensome financial/environmental/ObamaCare regulations being written and rolled out in the next few years; and with millions of people having dropped out of the labor force; and because of the Obama administration’s stupendously terrible history with ‘economic forecasts’ (the WFB has more on that score) — I guess she makes a pretty valid point, no?

Hahaha, the end of that clip is the killer. See, it’s the economists that are forecasting 12mil jobs, but Stef won’t just settle for those paltry numbers, she doubles down and says

‘well we can do better than that…’

and goes on I guess to bash Mitt for his lowballing of jobs he’ll create or something.

It’s like they’ve all gotten a memo that the law of consequences has been overturned by a Dane county judge or something. Bizzarroworld.

You right-wingers are crazy. What about all the new IRS jobs to enforce Obamacare, huh? Sure, that may only be in the thousands right now, but Barack can do to… um, I mean “for”… other industries what he did to… dammit, I mean “for” again… healthcare!

IF you do the math on 12 million jobs in 4 years, that’s 3 million per year which is only 250,000 per month. Isn’t that about what we’re looking at now? We really need to grow at twice that rate and they’re saying that, if Obama’s elected it’s more of the same?

Where is the MSM? I’m not a brain or anything and I see that, where in God’s name is the Wall Street Journal?

bflat879 on September 26, 2012 at 8:58 PM

If a trillion dollar stimulus created only 3M jobs, how much money will Obama ask for to create 12M?

In the last full month in which Republicans controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency, (December 2006), the Employment-population ratio was 63.4%. That was just slightly higher than the average of what it had been for 144 straight months of majority-Republican control (average over those 144 consecutive months: 63.3%).

For Obama to get back to the average of what it was for 144 straight months before the Democrats took majority control, he would need to create over 12.3 million jobs by the end of this month.

http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/cpseea01.htm HOUSEHOLD DATA HISTORICAL A-1. Employment status of the civilian noninstitutional population 16 years and over, 1977 to date [Numbers in thousands]

Civilian noninstitutional population in August: 243,566,000
63.4% * 243,566,000 = 154,420,844

Actual number employed in August: 142,101,000

Difference: 12,319,844

Obama needs to create over 12.3 Million jobs just to get back to where the Employment-population ratio was when he and his party took majority control of Washington, D.C. on January 3, 2007.

He’s proven he can’t do it. His average Employment-population ratio is 58.7, and he hasn’t been above that average since August 2009. He’s gone three full years at or below his own average, and he is officially worse than Jimmy Carter, whose average was 59.1.

Romney and a Republican Congress can get us back to the Republican average that we enjoyed for 144 months from Jan 1995 to Dec 2006.

Obama and the Democrats can not.

“So you see, the election four years ago wasn’t about me. It was about you. My fellow citizens, you were the change.”
Yup, you chumps were the change alright:
23 million unemployed
43 straight months of 8+% unemployment
45 million on food stamps
Black poverty at record highs
The middle class has lost 33% of its net worth under Obama
Black youth unemployment over 50%
Hispanic unemployment at 10.3%
Illegals due to receive roughly $7.4 billion through Obama’s Additional Child Tax Credit.
Food prices up 15% under Obama
Gas prices doubled under Obama
Obama has the worst job creation record since 1945
Obama recovery the worst in 75 years
Median household income $4,300 declines under Obama
Average family health insurance up $1,500 under Obama
Added $6 trillion to our debt…more than all Prezs. Combined
Presided over only US credit downgrade
Over 100 million people on some form of means tested welfare
Obama’s Failed policies hurt 100% of Americans

iceman1960 on September 26, 2012 at 8:41 PM

We’ve never had to lay-off employees in our history, but have had to resort to about 25% reduction in force in the last 30 days – and more coming.

We’re a medical device manufacturing company, too, so next year we get to pay an extra 2.6% (or so) on GROSS sales, *and* on instrumentation placed in the field for our sales reps, even before it’s sold.

And we just started getting the quotes for what our employer-provided insurance coverage is going to be next year. I can assure you from what I’ve seen so far, the rates aren’t going *down* as Dear Leader said they would.

Can someone please tell me why HotAir and others seemingly support MSNBC’s Obama all the time agenda by replaying MSNBC proramming? Those who simply watch the replay will not see any push back from the MSNBC hosts if the the guest is an Obama supporter, regardless of the message, so all HotAir will have done is provide MSNBC and the Obama spokesman with a larger audience.

It seems especially strange in this case when by now everyone should be aware of Ms. Cutter’s propensity to lie.

Nomas on September 27, 2012 at 6:52 AM

This particular WH’s projection for job growth leaves much to be desired.
They started off poorly and went downhill from there.
They got nothing.
Job growth has been “unexpectedly” worse than projected more often than not.

Jabberwock on September 27, 2012 at 6:58 AM

They plan on redefining the word job. Just waking up in the morning will count as having job, and 12 million jobs will quickly follow.

So, the empty chair really doesn’t have a plan to create any more jobs than the economy naturally does on its own. We knew that but it’s nice to have it confirmed. What does he have planned for us is the worry. 40 Days!

Kissmygrits on September 27, 2012 at 9:00 AM

What is Cutter smoking? Because I want some of it.

I seem to remember a bunch of these promises made by the Presdient last election. Something about reducing unemployment, lowering the deficit, preserving Soical Security and last but not least, creating jobs (well I forgot, lowering the rise of the sea).

None of that happened. NONE. Now we should trust more words because…?

Marcus Traianus on September 27, 2012 at 9:06 AM

And we should trust these economists’ prediction, BECAUSE?

Them’s got a real killer track record?

Sir Napsalot on September 27, 2012 at 9:07 AM

Did somebody say “reality”? What has that do do with Democrats?
A forecast by econmists is “reality”, a forecast, meaning a guess. And given the nature of that profession, much like the media in it’s political makeup, that’s no surprise.
