Rick Perry wins at Team Obama’s “For All” meme

posted at 11:31 am on September 22, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

A couple of days old, but I thought it was sufficiently well-played that it merited a post. So, this (kind of deeply off-putting) “For All” sloganeering Team Obama’s got going on, presumably to try and drum up a little Hopenchange-esque enthusiasm?

It seems like the idea is to play off the last “liberty and justice for all” line of our Pledge of Allegiance by writing something that’s important to you on your hand and then putting that over your heart in a display of Democratic solidarity. I guess the point is to be succinct, but so far, most of the submissions seem to consist of pretty airy-fairy topics like “gender equality” and “love” and “choice.” Okay, whatever; neither I nor any of the ladies I know spend their waking hours preoccupied with the woeful shortcoming of gender equality in this country, but I suppose it’s something we want to maintain “for all” (although I would probably choose to write “jobs” or “economic growth” or “cheap energy” or “small government” or something pedestrian like that).

But, hey — you know what we most definitely and inescapably already have, for all? Texas Governor Rick Perry, in one fell swoop, breaks down the situation.

Meme, conquered. Done and done.

Journalist Creed for All

A code of ethics written around 1906 by Walter Williams shortly after founding the Missouri School of Journalism.

I believe in the profession of Journalism. I believe that the public journal is a public trust; that all connected with it are, to the full measure of responsibility, trustees for the public; that all acceptance of lesser service than the public service is a betrayal of this trust. I believe that clear thinking, clear statement, accuracy and fairness are fundamental to good journalism. I believe that a journalist should write only what he holds in his heart to be true. I believe that suppression of the news, for any consideration other than the welfare of society, is indefensible. I believe that no one should write as a journalist what he would not say as a gentleman; that bribery by one’s own pocket book is as much to be avoided as bribery by the pocketbook of another; that individual responsibility may not be escaped by pleading another’s instructions or another’s dividends. I believe that advertising, news and editorial columns should alike serve the best interests of readers; that a single standard of helpful truth and cleanness should prevail for all; that supreme test of good journalism is the measure of its public service. I believe that the journalism which succeeds the best-and best deserves success-fears God and honors man; is stoutly independent; unmoved by pride of opinion or greed of power; constructive, tolerant but never careless, self-controlled, patient, always respectful of its readers but always unafraid, is quickly indignant at injustice; is unswayed by the appeal of the privilege or the clamor of the mob; seeks to give every man a chance, and as far as law, an honest wage and recognition of human brotherhood can make it so, an equal chance; is profoundly patriotic while sincerely promoting international good will and cementing world-comradeship, is a journalism of humanity, of and for today’s world.

By Bill Gertz, The Washington Times

Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta’s unusual offer to China’s military to join a major U.S.-led naval exercise in the Pacific prompted several U.S. security officials to express fears privately that China will gain valuable war-fighting intelligence from the Rimpac, or Rim of the Pacific, exercise.

China’s military will learn details on how the United States conducts coalition warfare, a strategic war-fighting capability.

It also will learn valuable data on U.S. communications used in naval warfare maneuvers, said defense officials familiar with the war games.

Such cooperation also would violate legal restrictions on military exchanges with China that were imposed by Congress to prevent unrestricted cooperation with Beijing from enhancing Chinese war-fighting.

Mr. Panetta announced in Beijing Tuesday that the Navy “will invite China to send a ship to participate in Rimpac 2014 exercise.”

“We now know that this has been happening in China with the most critical component of its economic growth miracle: steel. We will soon discover that all other assets: stocks, bonds, commodities (including gold and silver) and finally cash (think deposits) have been comparably rehypothecated and criminally commingled. The end result will be the most epic bank run in world history, which incidentally is precisely what the central banks are attempting desperately to delay as much as possible by generating excess inflation to “inflate” away the debt, leading to rematching of finite assets and virtually infinite liabilities…”

It seems like the idea is to play off the last “liberty and justice for all” line of our Pledge

Great (/)…are liberties are under assault and “justice for all” doesn’t seem to apply to anyone in this administration. Wake up people…how much does any of this other crap that you’ve got scribbled all over yourself matter if you are no longer free and your government is not accountable to anyone.

This gives me the willies….just forget all about that liberty nonsense why don’t we…and the only justice that matters to Owe is that of the social variety. Obama wants his own flag for heavens sake. Is he trying to re-invent the pledge now too?

Honesty for All

“At the founding of our country, a great American patriot wrote, ‘If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace,’” says Palin. “Obama’s motto seems to be, ‘Let the good times roll in my day. The kids can deal with the catastrophic bankruptcy in theirs.’ That’s no way for the leader of a great nation to behave, and I hope Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney continue to call him out on it. Generations of American children are counting on them.”
