Obama: “You can’t change Washington from the inside”

posted at 4:41 pm on September 20, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Well. This is… embarrassing. During an interview with Univision and speaking to his failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform, President Obama lamented the degree to which his capability to lead and to get things accomplished in Washington has been so steadily and unfortunately put-upon, and made a rather awkward apology for his policy deficiencies.

“The most important lesson I’ve learned is you can’t change Washington from the inside.”

Hem, hem. And I quote:

Photobucket

Okay, hold the phone — the President of the United States is powerless to influence Washington’s inner workings? I thought that was supposed to be the entire point of America electing him? You don’t think that maybe the real reason President Obama has failed to deliver on his many ambitious campaign promises — increasing transparency and bipartisanship, ending business as usual, creating jobs, and everything else that can be summed up by his erstwhile campaign slogan — could be because he finally got to Washington and figured out that, hey, actually… I’m fine with it just the way it is. Maybe?

The Twitterverse is having a grand ol’ time with this one:

More ‘good’ news under Obama.

Bank of America Corp. is speeding up its plan to slash 30,000 jobs by 2015. It’s now expected to lay off as many as 16,000 by the end of the year, according to Thursday news reports.

Speaking of which, I did a test last night. I filled a bowl with ice, and after it melted, the water level was lower than when the ice filled the bowl. Totally destroys the argument that if glaciers melt, the oceans will rise.

ConservativePartyNow on September 20, 2012 at 4:59 PM

I don’t want to rain on your parade CPN, but you did the experiment wrong. You merely transformed the frozen water to liquid form. It already existed in the bowl and had displaced the rest of the water before your experiment began.

What the loons are saying is that you start out with a bowl full of water, melt a bunch of ice on the side and then throw that melted ice water into the bowl with the rest of the water that’s alredy there, thus raising the water level in the bowl.

To my knowledge, no president in my lifetime, starting with LBJ, had two full years to work with a huge majority in the House and a filibuster-proof Senate. Bush didn’t even have that between ’02 and ’06. And this clown wants us to believe that he really couldn’t change anything with that enormous advantage? What a stunning admission of incompetence…

Maybe?

I think he intended to allow the established infrastructure that is the federal government, but most particularly his own administration ( the reason he hired all those ‘czars’), to do all the actual work while he floated within that framework through his Presidency. In that way he could effectively take credit for everything that worked, and place blame on his underlings for everything that didn’t work.

This is exactly in keeping with the approach he took with his presidency of the Harvard Review, what he did in the Illinois State House, and with his tenure in the Senate. *Backbencher*.

His greatest miscalculation was in misjudging how necessary the executive position, essentially good leadership skills, is to a successful Presidency and administration. His failure to grasp this fact springs directly from his never having held a real job. The Presidency of the United States of America is not an “On The Job Training” position.

The spin is already ‘he meant you have to have Congress’ I don’t think that passes the smell test, but lets play with it a second.

First, there is no way he is winning the House back (everyone except Nancy Pelosi thinks that). So it still begs the question…why re-elect him, if he has already admitted he will be ineffectual.

But the real reply is…he had Congress for two years. Even had a filibuster proof Senate for awhile. If he cant get everything he wants in two years from his own party…he has completely nullified any point in electing him.

Excellent point. Commander-in-Thief already knows what those internals are and being six weeks from the election with another bad jobs report comming, he’s already preparing his escape rational.

All the polls are moving their sampling algorithms (models) across the zip codes to find anomalies and trends and what they really see is an incumbent that can’t shake the stalking horse. The party afffiliation internal polls betray the actual trendlines of public opinion. However, Romney needs to answer each and every gaffe immediately; reply and retort within minutes and not in days.

But, the Hollywood/Manhattan communists gave the incumbent $6 million the other night. That pays for a lot of phone calls and charter buses.
