The question isn’t whether a Senator Hatch or a Senator Howell would die before each’s term is out.

The question is which Senator would be more likely to kill you, the voter, before either’s term is out.

The question is which Senator would be more likely to help you survive the Financial Armageddon which is approaching and where the government has no way to help you.

In these terms having a Senator Hatch or Howell for 2, 3, 4 or 5, years and then requiring The Governor of Utah appointing a replacement or having another election, should be the least of the voters worries.

If Senator Hatch did die even before the elections Utah would still vote for him before voting for this Democrat.

Not surprised. Dan Liljenquist supporters used this extensively during the primary as a whisper campaign. It was one of the first things that would come up when state delegates would talk to each other. It didn’t stick though because when he spoke he was just as alive as ever.

It will be interesting to watch some tea partiers squirm as a Democrat makes this charge publicly. Not that it matters much. Hatch will win one way or another.

The ages of Feinstein or the Senators from Hawaii aren’t as important, from a purely partisan perspective from the point of view from a Democrat, because if they were to be unable to serve, a Democratic Governor would replace them with standard members of the part.

The argument here is that Hatch would replaced by a Utah Governor from the party that ousted Bob Bennet in a primary. As a partisan fundraising request, it’s valid.

Plus, this guy will not be Utah’s next senator. He’ll be lucky to get a third of the vote (IE- half the vote Hatch gets).
