Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on September 16, 2012 by Allahpundit

Obama tried to influence Israeli voters by snubbing Netanyahu’s request for a meeting later this month, so here comes Bibi to return the favor. He’ll make his case on Iran directly to an American audience this morning on “Meet the Press.” I wonder if that’s been planned for weeks or if it was something hastily arranged, partly in frustration at O’s refusal to set any “red lines” for Iran’s nuke program and partly to capitalize on American anger over the embassy attacks this week. The idea that Islamic fundamentalists maybe shouldn’t be allowed to have nuclear weapons will have new resonance today for any American who’s been in a news coma since, oh, say, late September 2001. And believe me, they’re out there.

Here’s the line-up via the LA Times. Not sure why there’s no listing for “This Week,” but according to ABC’s website, they’ll have Susan Rice on as the main guest and Liz Cheney and Wes Clark, among others, on the panel to debate the Foreign-Policy President’s record.

State of the Union With Candy Crowley The Democratic agenda; 2012 Campaigns: Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco)…

Face the Nation Embassy attack in Libya and 2012 election: Sen. John Mccain (R-Ariz.). Events in Middle East: Richard Haass, Council on Foreign Relations; Martin Indyk, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel. Panel: Bobby Ghosh, Time; David Sanger, New York Times; John Dickerson; Margaret Brennan.

Meet the Press Israel and Iran; U.S.-Israeli relationship: Benjamin Netanyahu Prime Minister of Israel. Libya; anti-American protests overseas: Susan Rice, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Foreign policy and the 2012 campaign: Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.); Rep. Peter King (R-NY); Bob Woodward; Jeffrey Goldberg, The Atlantic; Andrea Mitchell.

This Week With George Stephanopoulos

Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace Events in Libya and Egypt: Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.). George and Trish Vradenburg, U.S. Against Alzheimer’s. Panel: Brit Hume; Liz Marlantes; the Christian Science Monitor; Bill Kristol; Jeff Zeleny.

I meant to add: because the FBI is taking care of this, and it’s an ‘ongoing investigation’.
Question went UNasked, but that was the blanket answer, today, anyway.

Liz Trotta is dropping the bomb on the libs now. History’s lessons go unheeded.

Interesting that spontaneous riters wouldbe so interested in documents? Do they believe that Stevens had the script for the evah so offensive widdle film?

clnurnberg on September 16, 2012 at 11:40 AM

I will pray for the safety of our FBI agents and for any of our citizens (or anyone else) who may be in danger because of these murderers. Bob Schieffer asked the Libyan PM if he could guarantee the safety of the FBI agents. They couldn’t guarantee the safety of our embassy staff. How safe is anyone stuck in an RPG attack?

Oh my word. Liz Trotta (Liz Trotta!) just ripped OF@ckhead a new one on Fox News. Said that to blame the ME conflagration on a movie trailer that took the Feds two days to find is NOT the cause. The cause is the Administration”s “Soft Power” BS.

The wheels are coming off the bus.

We’ve been saying this for years now, and yet in cruises on. O sees this as just a speedbump on the path to total transformation of America. The media concurs as only curs can concur.

clnurnberg on September 16, 2012 at 11:51 AM

to suggest on here that Obama would almost welcome a nuclear attack in order to become dictator is just, well, embarrassing, and it makes you sound like a nutty paranoid freak of the Steveangell realm.

bluegill on September 16, 2012 at 10:06 AM

I don’t think he would wish for such an attack; but this is the never “Let a crisis go to waste” crowd and they will take as much advantage as they can of any situation that presents itself.

The sacking of our Benghazi consulate is looking more and more to me like the outcome of another “Fast & Furious” debacle. Another “manufactured crisis” as it were to create a case against, in this case, the first amendment.

(Recall, the original F&F was supposed to highlight the anachronistic nature of the 2nd amendment, till the gun-running incompetence of the political hacks who now run our justice system resulted in the death of a boarder guard… a scandal ten times worse than Watergate by any rational standard.)

The Smoking Gun claims that the film maker was a federal snitch. This certainly colors the matter a whole new shade of strange, at the very least. But I believe these people from the top down are sinister (“never let a good crisis go to waste”) and corrupt to boot.

Their current insistence that, actually, there’s no evidence the brutal attack in Benghazi was premeditated and that, in fact, it’s really about indignation over a film by some rogue free-speecher, belies either total, unmitigated stupidity, or total, unmitigated capacity to lie.

These are not mutually exclusive conclusions, I might add.

I saw two Special Reports in a row with two different brunette liberal reporters, one from AP, I forget the other. Neither was Marlantes or Liasson. Anyway, Dr. K, who’s wheelchair-bound, almost couldn’t stay in his chair when the brunettes started criticizing Romney and blaming the movie for the Middle East violence. Even Baier had a hard time not slamming them.

My money is on Hume laying down the hammer on the two liberals today. Too bad Fox couldn’t get Liz Cheney.

BuckeyeSam on September 16, 2012 at 8:34 AM

We lost Fox News a year and a half ago when they folded to an attack from George Soros and Van Jones, and agreed to change their schedule. I suspect that is also responsible for all the proggie hires.

Within a few years I expect Fox News to be no different than CNN.

N.C. Governor Calls For Suspension Of Federal Elections

With this progressive crowd, it is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Flora Duh on September 16, 2012 at 12:13 PM

I am no longer able to give these people — Obama, Hillary!, and nearly all the political hacks around them who run our government now — any benefit of the doubt. Not even on grounds of stupidity.

The lack of scandal generally attributed to this Administration is as much a media-created myth as the One Himself. This is the most corrupt administration from Day One because from Day One their intent was to “fundamentally transform America” … that isn’t an enumerated power of the Constitution.

But these people care not a whit for the Constitution, least of all where it restricts federal power in favor of republican self-government (which is its most important feature).

By Constitutional standards, in a sane world Obama would have been impeached — and removed — after ObamaCare passed the way it did. But we live in an increasing insane world, as the crisis in the ME amply demonstrates.

He just nuked Susan Rice.

* On the FOURTH of September, 2012, all Egyptian security sectors received letters warning that Sinai- and Gaza-based Global Jihad cells were planning attacks on the American and Israel embassies in Cairo.

No mention was made of a film or any outrage at it.

* Egypt’s General Intelligence Service warned that a jihadi group was planning to launch terrorist attacks against the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo, according to a report Tuesday by Egypt Independent, citing a secret letter obtained by Al-Masry Al-Youm.

No mention was made of a film or any outrage at it.

* On the EIGHT of September, 2012, the Egyptian website, El Fagr, posted a statement by Jihadi groups in Egypt, including Islamic Jihad, the Sunni Group, and Al Gamaa Al Islamiyya wherein they threatened to burn the U.S. Embassy in Cairo to the ground.

No mention was made of a film or any outrage at it.

* On the NINTH of September, 2012, the US State Department had credible information that American missions may be targeted in Cairo and Benghazi; yet, no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and ‘lockdown,’ under which movement are to be severely restricted.

No mention was made of a film or any outrage at it.

* On the TENTH of September, 2012, Raymond Ibrahim at PJMedia.com reported the threat and linked to the site. He also translated the post from El Fagr:

“The group, which consists of many members from al-Qaeda, called [especially] for the quick release of the jihadi [mujahid] sheikh, Omar Abdul Rahman [the "Blind Sheikh"], whom they described as a scholar and jihadi who sacrificed his life for the Egyptian Umma, who was ignored by the Mubarak regime, and [President] Morsi is refusing to intervene on his behalf and release him, despite promising that he would. The Islamic Group has threatened to burn the U.S. Embassy in Cairo with those in it, and taking hostage those who remain [alive], unless the Blind Sheikh is immediately released.”

No mention was made of a film or any outrage at it.

* On the morning of the ELEVENTH of September, 2012, The Jerusalem Post reported that Egypt’s General Intelligence Service had warned that a jihadi group was planning to launch terrorist attacks against the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo.

No mention was made of a film or any outrage at it.

The chaos in the Middle East was not caused by a film. The threat, SPECIFICALLY, referred to the blind sheikh and demanded his immediate release. They also wanted certain Gitmo prisoners release.

The Obama administration is attempting to deflect attention from its ignorance, incompetence, and failed foreign policy by blaming a film that few have seen and was not mentioned by anyone in the days leading up to the attack.

The youtube clip is the equivalent of the Germans dressing up in Polish uniforms and attacking a radio station Gleiwitz, Germany, and using it as a “justification” to invade Poland to “save” Germans from the “atrocities being committed by the Poles.”

Tunisians didnt build the fires at the US embassy, the government did
Iranians didn’t build a nuclear bomb, the government did.

The Americans didnt build 0bama’s election, the government did

Here you go, Bruh.

CNN: Ha…Crowley and the Kook-Fringe Left!

See BS: R; Lib; Lib; Lib; Lib; Lib!

NBC: Con; Kook-Lib; Muslim Lib; R; Lib; Lib; Kook-Lib

ABC: (LA Times) 2 Kook-Libs and a con

Fox: R; Con; Lib (Liz Marlantes-does she remind you of Kate Middleton in the “Wow-hot!” sense?); R; Lib

So, that was complicated, wasn’t it? Let’s try to score it:

Kook-Fringe-Left: 6
Libs, including moderators: 13
Conservative-ish: 6

Or something like that. Once again the media joins with their fellow travelers to create a three on one environment for the presentation of political thought in America, fooling no one in the process.
