Taliban not wild about Harry

posted at 10:01 am on September 15, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

The BBC is reporting that a recent Taliban attack in Afghanistan had a very specific target in mind… Prince Harry.

Prince Harry was at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan during an assault by the Taliban which killed two US marines.

American officials said small arms, rockets and mortars were used to attack the perimeter of the British base, home to troops from several countries…

Nato told Reuters news agency that the prince “was never in any danger”.

Prince Harry, who is marking his 28th birthday, is in Afghanistan for four months on his second tour of duty.

As a member of the Royal family and a strong ally of the United States, it’s not hard to understand why the terrorists would want to take a shot at him. So that should have been reason enough right there. But the media arm of the Taliban (and isn’t that a job everyone would love…) seemed to feel the need to come up with an additional reason.

The Taliban said it was a response to an amateur US-made film mocking Islam and later claimed the base was chosen because Harry was there.

I see. So you decided that you were upset by a YouTube film made in America, and decided to strike a blow for your beliefs by trying to kill a Prince from Great Britain? Your impeccable logic is truly amazing.

Isaf spokesman Brigadier General Gunter Katz said the Taliban was “claiming a lot… They lose any credibility and it’s very hard to understand what’s behind the motives of those claims.”

Somehow I don’t think maintaining credibility is really high on their list.

This is a reminder, though, that Harry is a very popular figure back home. It’s traditional for the sons of the Royal Family to do a tour of duty in the military, but in the past this has been largely in peacetime forces well out of harm’s way. Harry certainly earns credit with the British people for putting his life on the line and going to serve in a war zone. It’s also a reminder that while our attention is frequently focused elsewhere or at home, this war continues to grind on. And it’s probably the least discussed issue in the presidential campaign.

Harry may have never been in any danger, but two more United States Marines died in the attack. Our family currently has two young men serving on the ground in Afghanistan, as I know some of you do as well. They deserve better.

WOW, just wow.

No wonder the Taliban thinks we’re infidels when they hear all the stuff like this that gets the gov’t seal of approval in D.C. If you’re a “my highway or the the highway” religion this would just pisseth you offeth.

Three U.S. congressmen and a top-level government official attended the opening of the Church of Scientology’s National Office in Washington, D.C., Thursday.

Their attendance marked a significant endorsement from members of a government that was once partially at war with the organization.

Lawmakers in attendance were Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Indiana Republican Rep. Dan Burton and Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny Davis. Liz Gibson, Senior Program Manager at the Federal Emergency Management Agency was also in attendance.

Jackson Lee applauded the organization.

“I want to thank L. Ron Hubbard for recognizing that courage is not rewarded but it is valued,” said the congresswoman. L. Ron Hubbard was the church’s founder.

“And to be able to have the wonderment of people coming together and ensuring that people come together for peace. That’s what I see in the Church, that you have come together for peace. I welcome and support that,” she said.

Burton and Davis lauded the church’s efforts in pushing Congress to pass legislation targeted toward child medication and the criminal justice system. Gibson praised the disaster relief the Church of Scientology has provided in times of crisis.

In 1786 Thomas Jefferson, then US ambassador to France, and John Adams, then US Ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the Dey’s ambassador to Britain, in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress’ vote of funding. To the US Congress these two future Presidents later reported the reasons for the Muslims’ hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

“…that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

From that same site I cited above.

This is all you need to know or understand about Islam. They don’t kill because they are insulted or because Mohammad was insulted or because Allah was insulted. They kill because they are psychopathic murderers at heart.

War is coming to the Middle East.

What? Allah is such a all powerful God that he can’t defend his own honor or himself? He needs 7th century sociopaths pedophiles and goat rapists to defend and protect him? No Muslim go on these murderous killing spree’s for the same reason Lions eat Zebra’s, Sharks eat baby seals or liberals lie through their teeth, because it is their nature to do so.

The best was the Iraq-Iran war. It was great to see our two enemies go at it. However, true to form, it was sickening. Twelve year olds were drafted and sent to war. They used them to clear mine fields for advancing tanks by making them run through the mine fields in advance of their tanks. And to this day, there are the child suicide bombers. They even have packed infants with explosives.

One reason that we are there is for infrastructure which they are completely incapable of building on their own.
However, if the Taliban continues to slaughter then get the hell out. Let private companies go in and try to build. First off dealing with them is incredibly difficult but there are business opportunities and the private firms aren’t in as much danger because the governments know they need outside help to build.
Maybe they’ll kill each other off if they don’t have military infidels sitting like ducks sin a barrel.

I disagree with the premise of the comment.

The reason Harry was in Vegas was that he was in intensive training in the American southwesten desert, in preparation to go back to Afghanistan. He is doing his duty – the duty he was trained for. Recall that he has repeatedly asked to go to the front lines, because he doesn’t want to be trained alongside his comrades and then be held out because he is special.

I give Harry more respect in this – that the Queen is respecting his wishes. I certainly do not see his doing his duty as being “punished.”

Instead of attacking, we should have just groveled and apologized profusely for our existence instead. Oh, wait, Barry Hussein already did that for us. You remember your Dear Leader Barry? The one who said, as a candidate, that Afghanistan was the “good” war — the only one that we were justified to be in, and the one we should be focusing our efforts on winning.

You idiots need to try and keep your rationalizations straight.

AZCoyote on September 15, 2012 at 12:16 PM

I agree. It already appears that the Queen sent him there as punishment for his sins. If he is killed all hell will break loose on her.

slickwillie2001 on September 15, 2012 at 11:27 AM

I read somewhere that he was already slated to be re-deployed (at his own request) – and was just blowin’ off steam beforehand in Vegas.
I doubt that the queen would order him to a war zone as “punishment” for any sort of hi-jinks.

Solaratov on September 15, 2012 at 12:27 PM

I say we load up the Bufs with zillions of stills from that Mohammed film and drop them all over Afghanistan and Pakistan…a few other countries, too. Maybe scads of pork rinds as well.

Dr. ZhivBlago on September 15, 2012 at 12:47 PM

What’s wrong with these people. We invade their country and occupy it and the next thing you know they’re trying to kill us. Savages.

Reading $hit like this makes watching those gun camera vids on Live Leak all the more sweet…

Part two the Pappy Plan for foreign policy?

Clear out the sausage factories in North America and cover the Middle East with an airdrop unseen in human history!!!

Aluuuaha Bacon!!!

PappyD61 on September 15, 2012 at 12:56 PM

Most young muslim middle eastern men are barely educated, poor, unemployed and sexually frustrated. Their “religion” gives them their only sense of power. It allows them to discharge their hormonal rage and powerlessness by encouraging them, not to better themselves, but to kill, kill, kill, kill, kill and kill again anyone whom their masters tell them they should kill. Hell they’ll even kill each other. Put them together in a mob and civilized opponents have no chance –zero–of reasoning with them. The only response is to kill them before they kill you or leave them to rot in their own 14th century hovels.

Super Bowl, beyotch!

Dammit to hell, I should have thought of that! heh

Typicalwhitewoman on September 15, 2012 at 1:35 PM

The problem is, putting a royal in these situations and then people telling where they are means danger for those serving with them, as this story clearly illustrates. Two others died because of it.

No, the Queen didn’t punish him with this or anything like that.

Alana on September 15, 2012 at 2:19 PM

It’s traditional for the sons of the Royal Family to do a tour of duty in the military, but in the past this has been largely in peacetime forces well out of harm’s way.

That might be true for the Prince of Wales but not the others. Harry’s uncle was a radar decoy for Exocets in the Falklands.

lexhamfox on September 15, 2012 at 2:34 PM

I give Harry more respect in this – that the Queen is respecting his wishes. I certainly do not see his doing his duty as being “punished.”

cane_loader on September 15, 2012 at 11:34 AM

I respect Harry’s service, but some Brits don’t necessarily view this the way you and I do.

…a HOLY WAR has been going on for decades…you’re one of the many who still have your head where the sun don’t shine.

KOOLAID2 on September 15, 2012 at 3:02 PM

I do think we shouldn’t be over there at all for these purposes.
They pi$$ & $hit on everything good that’s been given them.
I think we should isolate them as best as we can from the rest of the world & let them live in the squalor & misery they’ve reduced themselves to for centuries.

Badger40 on September 15, 2012 at 10:22 AM

Agreed. We’ve spent billions on creating infrastructure in Afghanistan – all to win the hearts and minds of the locals. When we pull out, where are the small Afghan villages going to find the money, resources, parts etc. to keep that infrastructure functioning?

Hill60 on September 15, 2012 at 3:11 PM

lexhamfox on September 15, 2012 at 2:34 PM

Exactly – Prince Andrew served in active combat during the Falklands conflict.

Hill60 on September 15, 2012 at 3:13 PM

I doubt it had anything to do with Prince Harry. Just propaganda from one side or the other.

fatlibertarianinokc on September 15, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Its okay, Harry has the Triforce of courage.

You left out the part where the were directly responsible for protecting, supporting, and in lock step with Al Qaeda murdering three thousand innocent Americans.

Take your smug comments and shove them where the light don’t shine.

By the way, compared to civilized standards, they are savages.

BMF on September 15, 2012 at 4:41 PM

Harry’s always been the one I’d rather have a beer or 8 with. I like William, but Harry’s the one I’d rather have in a fight.

Harry is the bravest royal I have ever seen. He has my respect.
