Kirsten Powers: Yes, the media’s reaction to Romney’s Egypt statement yesterday was utterly insane

posted at 6:41 pm on September 13, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via Mediaite, consider this a video complement to Erick Erickson’s piece at Red State this morning about yesterday’s virtuoso exercise in narrative-driven concern-trolling. If you only know KP from her Fox appearances, this clip will come as a surprise, as she’s as unsparing of O’s failures here as any pundit on the other side of the aisle would be. If you follow her Twitter feed, it’ll come as no surprise at all. She’s been lighting into the White House and the embassy for the past 36 hours, and in fact has lit into them frequently in the past on the topic of Egypt. She’s tweeted before too about having friends in the Copt community there, so this is no academic exercise in punditry. The stronger the Brotherhood gets, the more dangerous the situation becomes for the Copts and for the United States. Go figure that she’s more worried about the president’s reaction than Mitt Romney’s.

Speaking of the embassy, I’d sure like some more details on what this exchange is all about:

“Ikhwanweb” is the English-language account of the Muslim Brotherhood. The embassy didn’t specify what they saw on the MB’s Arab-language feeds, but this story on Ahram Online will give you an idea:

This reconciliatory tweet, however, was posted while the Brotherhood’s Arabic-language Twitter account and its official website were both praising the protests — staged against a US-made film judged defamatory towards Islam — and calling for a million man march on Friday.

One Arabic language article on the Brotherhood’s site sported the headline ‘Egyptians rise to defend the Prophet’.

The Times of Israel has much, much more about the Brotherhood’s reaction, including their calls to criminalize insults to Islam. It’s a long tradition in the Arab world for leaders to say one thing in English for international audiences and something else entirely for domestic consumption; Arafat in particular was infamous for talking out of both sides of his mouth. If the embassy has reason to believe that the Brotherhood supports what happened yesterday, which of course it does, I sure do wish the Foreign-Policy President would share that information with the American public. Might be relevant to the question of whether Egypt is or isn’t still an “ally,” no?

This is the usual Arab back-stabbing, most famously committed by Yasser Arafat who would say one thing for the press (in English), and then say the complete opposite when addressing the Arab masses (in Arabic).
To lie for Islam is a feature of their belief system.

Powers’ handicap, at least with me, is that I have a hard time holding her views against her because she is truly one of the most attractive women I have ever seen.

Just my opinion, so I have to live with it.

Powers is a liberal. She might, on occasion, make token ‘pro-reasonable’ statements, but that’s only to maintain a semblance of credibility.

The only difference between this blonde and Chrissy is that Powers is more savvy with self-aggrandizement than is the Priss.

footage from Libyan consul attack shows gunmen sent by pres of Egypt

BREAKING NEWS: There have been questions raised about whether the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya was done in conjunction with the attacks on the Embassy in Cairo. This video brings us closer to answering that question. In fact, it not only points to the same attackers but possibly to Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi himself.Fast forward to the 1:15 mark in this video (if you don’t understand Arabic). Watch as the raw footage of a firefight in Benghazi is taking place. The news report loops the relevant portion of an exchange between gunmen, in which one can be heard, saying, ‘Don’t Shoot us! We were sent by Mursi’!

Obviously, that would mean at least two separate groups of gunmen in Libya are loyal to the President of Egypt.

I think we’re going to find that the communications between the embassy and the MB have been much more complicated than we know. We probably have had players on both sides playing poker for awhile and things are coming to a head.

A question I would like to see answered:

If we cut off aid to Egypt, where would the replacement aid come from – Russia and China?

WOuld they dive into the situation, or would they let them twist in the wind?

Or would Venezuela announce that they are now supporting the MB?

I could see Chavez pulling this – totally.

Liberals cannot be changed except from within, they need to come to their own understanding by personal experience.

For a cheap and easy shortcut, I refer to the old saw that, “A liberal is only someone who hasn’t been mugged yet.”

Liam on September 13, 2012 at 6:59 PM

Anyway, I don’t want to get sexist on Kirsten. She’s smarter than the average bear. I’d like to see her get a little older and start really examining her beliefs and using her good mind – I do think she’s pretty sharp – to re-examine her beliefs and hew the path of intellectual honesty, instead of party loyalty.

What’s the old saying,

Or something to that effect.

I hope that Powers will continue what seems to be a shift toward honestly in the last year. Ever since the Weiner incident, which affected her personally, I have noticed an increased willingness to hew more to the truth with her. I hope this is permanent.

All I ask of journalists, regardless of their political beliefs, is that they use their writing and speaking talents to give the best, truest representation of what’s happening that they can.

Do that, and they can look in the mirror and be proud, and be of great public service.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/13/us-usa-campaign-poll-idUSBRE88B0IG20120913

The daily online poll asked 990 likely voters over the previous four days which candidate they would pick if the vote took place today, with 48 percent choosing Obama and 41 percent picking Romney.

2 other Red Flags for this Fake Online “Poll”?

1. They provide absolutely no crosstabs, thus no sample disclosure.

2. They absolutely refuse to use the words “margin of error” when referring to their Fake Online “Polls”. Instead, they say this!

The precision of Reuters/Ipsos rolling daily online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points for all respondents.

What they are implying, of course, it that they are incapable of any error to begin with, so that particular word is irrelevant to them.

As I said, al-Rooters can Photoshop “Polls” just as well as they Photoshop “news photos”.

One of the cornerstones of the Republic , a free press, has been so thoroughly undermined by the legacy media’s ideologically driven corruption and decomposition that it’s frankly a national tragedy and crisis.
.
Fortunately, they are being gradually displaced by the just-in-time new media, mostly the internet, which is much closer to the vibrant, thriving, multi-voiced check on government and institutions that the founders had in mind than the disgraceful, monolithic uni-think “press” that exists now.

Dr. Carlo Lombardi on September 13, 2012 at 7:10 PM

Liberals are incapable of doing as you wish, for simple fact they’re liberals.

As we see all the time, actual truth is a toy to them. If they can’t tweak it, reverse it, change-up, or any other game they play with actual truth, it doesn’t exist.

And, if the MSM don’t report the actual truth it never happened, far as they’re concerned.

Liam on September 13, 2012 at 7:11 PM

A neutron bomb or enhanced radiation weapon (ERW) or weapon of reinforced radiation is a type of thermonuclear weapon designed specifically to release a large portion of its energy as energetic neutron radiation (fast neutrons) rather than explosive energy. Although their extreme blast and heat effects are not eliminated, it is the enormous radiation released by ERWs that is meant to be a major source of casualties. The levels of neutron radiation released are able to penetrate through thick, protective materials such as armor, making them useful as an anti-tank weapon.[1]

You know how that goes, there is probably a poll to say anything anybody wants to say.

Cindy Munford on September 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Powers husband is Christian Coptic and he has numerous family members in Egypt. Would she really care otherwise? Should I not look a gift horse in the mouth?

Blake on September 13, 2012 at 7:03 PM

Yeah, but she thought the whole Libyan thing was shady too. But she is right about this..the fact that the media is talking more about Romney than Libya is insane..but in a weird way it might help Romney..for one thing it makes the media look stupid..for another it makes the Obama people look defensive and gives Romney a chance to make the base happy by standing up to those idiots.

Terrye on September 13, 2012 at 7:32 PM

How on earth did I miss that? He hasn’t started singing already has he?

Bmore on September 13, 2012 at 7:28 PM

No, he didn’t But it’s an automatic reaction for me. Every time I see HAL, I want him/her/it to song Daisy.

Are you the one who started that?

Liam on September 13, 2012 at 7:33 PM

You know how that goes, there is probably a poll to say anything anybody wants to say.

Cindy Munford on September 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM

It sure seems that way.

Terrye on September 13, 2012 at 7:33 PM

We can lose the creeps and keep the antiques, right?

Cindy Munford on September 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Exactly! I have it on pretty good authority it even polishes up the antiques a wee bit. So its a double win. ; )

Bmore on September 13, 2012 at 7:34 PM

I just got here, what did I miss. I couldn’t see what Cindy did there. Same reason. ; )

Bmore on September 13, 2012 at 7:26 PM

Ah. She made a statement in the form of a question, kinda like the LSM does when its attacking Romney, but pretending to be above partisan politics — only she did better, ’cause hers was so dry and dead-pan. You know, like she does. :)

I gotta go finish getting this chicken ready for the KP protection ritual.

Axe on September 13, 2012 at 7:34 PM

Are you the one who started that?

Liam on September 13, 2012 at 7:33 PM

Yes, I just don’t want to miss the finale. Lol! ; ) Cause we all know how it ends for HAL, except HAL. ; )

Bmore on September 13, 2012 at 7:35 PM

HotAirLib on September 13, 2012 at 7:19 PM

HAL, HAL, HAL, you wouldn’t be trying to divert attention from the issue of this thread, would you?

You know, the issue being that your boy king and his lapdog media have handled this whole international foreign policy incident – like the amateur that he is?

Flora Duh on September 13, 2012 at 7:35 PM

O/T- where can I find this new poll everyone is talking about? They say Obama is now up by 5 in FL, 6 in VA and 9 or so in OH. Maybe Ed can do a post on it.

HotAirLib on September 13, 2012 at 7:19 PM

Awes. Poor little lib looking for anything to make him feel better about the SCOAMF.

What are your thoughts on Obama’s foreign policy blowing up in his face 2 months before the election?

Carter was creaming Reagan at this point in 1980…thoughts?

Found it! It’s a Wall Street Journal Poll. Hopefully Ed will analyze.

HotAirLib on September 13, 2012 at 7:37 PM

Plus, it’s been my experience with liberal women, they will call out to the Almighty every now and then, thus giving me hope for them. ;-)

Thanks for the chuckle on a pretty depressing news day!

ugottabekiddingme on September 13, 2012 at 7:38 PM

The Romney campaign needs to get better at handling the media.

And frankly are they really that stupid to think they can have a fair shake from these TRAITORS in the media?

Still waiting for gloves to come off and for Mitt to have a REAGAN “I paid for this Microphone” moment.

PappyD61 on September 13, 2012 at 7:10 PM

Oh for heavens sakes Pappy…can you stop bitching at the man for just a little while? For one thing I do not think that the Romney people think they will get a fair shake from the media…for another thing Romney got up and took questions from the media and stood his ground. He did not run off to Vegas to party like Obama did…so cut him some slack.

I thought so, and that was awesome of you; brilliant and a great comedic touch!

You know, we could expand your idea to other liblets, maybe ‘assign’ a song to each of them. Every time one of them posts, we ask them to sing for their supper, so to speak.

Just an idea, if you will, please. ~S~

You’re a lame troll. We usually get much better.

There is hope for KP yet.

Hey KP, it’s not too late!

cane_loader on September 13, 2012 at 6:43 PM

She’s a Shrillery gal and hasn’t ever quite gotten over 2008.

Liam on September 13, 2012 at 7:39 PM

I thought about calling libfreeforlife by the name he meant to choose when he signed up. Can you believe the troll blew the spelling of his own moniker? He’s a professor no less. Funny!!! Funnier still is that he actually admitted the mistake. You can’t make this stuff up. Lol! I wish Axe would finish up on the screenplay. Should make a great movie. ; )

Bmore on September 13, 2012 at 7:43 PM

Yes, Powers is married to an Egyptian doctor. I don’t know his religion, but he and his family are secular enough to be scared of all the changes in Egypt.

When someone actually lives under repression, like the Romanians and Vietnamese I know, he becomes very “conservative” on tyrants of every kind.

CW, do me a favor, when that one starts singing, record it for me in case I’m not around. I don’t want to miss that. Lol! Thanks!
