Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:01 am on September 10, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Note to President Obama: when we call something “Bidenesque” … it’s not a compliment:

“…marked with three proud words: made in the U.S.A.”

The Weekly Standard points out the similarities:

Readers are cordially invited to speculate on how many times we’d be hearing about this if George W. Bush — or Mitt Romney — had said it.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

You will be beaten until you recant and admit that “Made in the USA” is actually four words.

He lost count… literally.

He didn’t build that speech.

And, BTW, it was the teleprompter’s fault.

We have to give them a pass on this.

They care. And I don’t think anyone (in the media) would dispute that Barky is trying really hard. Kay?

A commenter at powerlineblog notes the following in re Obysmal’s recent blunder:

Kurtis Fechtmeyer · Top Commenter · San Francisco, California

The operative number in this election is simple: 2.

The Obama economy has produced 2X the unemployment rate of the Bush economy.

The Obama budget has produced an average deficit 2X that of Bush (with one war, not two).

The Obama Afghanistan war plan has killed 2X the number of American soldiers as the Bush Afghanistan war plan in 1/2 the time period.

The Obama inflation rate has been 2X the inflation rate of the Bush economy with 1/2 the growth rate.

The price of gas under Obama has gone up 2X.

If Bush was an economic slouch, Obama is a double down on dumb.

White House Response:

He didn’t say that.

Media response:

He didn’t say that.

Bottom line for all practical purposes: He didn’t say that.

It’s what happens when the rat-eared bastard is held to a different standard than others.

Happy Nomad on September 10, 2012 at 8:22 AM

Maybe that’s why he doesn’t seem to care about the nearly $6 trillion in new debt he’s added. He can’t count to 6.

Doughboy on September 10, 2012 at 8:25 AM

It’s only numbers,right?

I know what you’re thinking. “Did he say three words or only four?” Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself.
But this here Media is a biased media and will do you like Chris Matthews..
So you gotta ask yourself one question…
Do you feel lucky…

When Republican politicians misspeak, it’s proof positive that they’re blithering idiots unfit to hold any office.

When Democratic politicians misspeak, it’s just so darn cute and funny!

Barry is very proud of anything produced in the 57 states, and marked with the three words : Made in the USA.

Planned speech. Written down. And it’s still wrong?

“I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God” … of BlackBerries.

On the campaign trail, President Obama is constantly talking about the importance of technology, but he met his match in an iPhone Sunday.

The president had stopped at a campaign office in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to thank volunteers. Then, for the cameras, Mr. Obama was supposed to call two campaign workers who were out working on his behalf.

But when White House trip director Marvin Nicholson handed the president his personal iPhone, Mr. Obama couldn’t get it to work. A reporter who witnessed the scene said the president looked “befuddled.”

“It’s not clear he knows how to dial on an iPhone,” the reporter wrote in a pool report.

Finally, Mr. Obama said, “Oh, I got to dial it in. Hold on, hold on. I can do this. See, I still have a BlackBerry.”

Oh please. A BlackBerry just isn’t cool anymore

Since we have better math skills: Add up the number of folks hooked on fed govt handouts, those in unions, illegal aliens (yes, they often vote), those employed by bureaucracies, those working for or studying in college/university, & those foolish enough to be on the Left in social issues, & you have a majority.

Obama: NOT made in the U.S.A.

Archivarix on September 10, 2012 at 9:31 AM

Parse him more accurately. The key word there is “proud”. If he thinks the USA is shameful, then “made in the USA” does in fact consist of three proud words and one shameful acronym

john1v6 on September 10, 2012 at 9:48 AM

USA, actually is a word, like “you’ll”, “usa is go’in to turn this heyer country around”

right2bright on September 10, 2012 at 9:54 AM

This is a carryover from his “Made in America” (3 words) slogan from last year. Someone somehow managed to explain to him that the phrase is “Made in the USA”, but was unable to get it across that the phrase now had four words, not three.

Also, great that he wants a reinvigorated manufacturing economy. Now if he would only listen to someone explain that you don’t reinvigorate manufacturing (private sector) by bleeding it dry to maintain employment and bureaucracy in the public sector. But I’m sure that’s expecting too much.

There are FOUR LIGHTS WORDS!

(Had to fix your post, too…)

makattak on September 10, 2012 at 11:33 AM

Quite obviously no one ever goes back to check/edit these speeches once they are written. They throw a bunch of pretty words together (or copy-and-paste them from previous speeches) and upload them into TOTUS with the full confidence that if there are errors in them the presstitutes will either not cover those errors or spin them for Barry-O.

If Bush had said it, we’d be hearing it all day long on CNN, and in every newscast on NBC, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC for weeks.

RebeccaH on September 10, 2012 at 2:26 PM

I finally gained some insight on Democrat finances & budgets.

They simply can’t count past 3. So a $3 Trillion budget and a $5 Trillion budget are the same thing.

taznar on September 10, 2012 at 2:51 PM

made in the U.S.(of) A.

They may have to rethink their strategy. Biden is on the ticket because he make Obama look brilliant. Biden makes me look brilliant. But if the Obamanator continues to make these types of mistakes, what good is Biden?
