Full-court press from the Republican ticket this morning, with Romney on “Meet the Press” for his first non-Fox Sunday chat of the campaign and Ryan hitting both ABC and CBS, presumably to answer Bill Clinton’s speech at length. I wonder if that’s all been planned for weeks or if the mounting evidence of a bounce for O forced Team Mitt to play defense more aggressively than they anticipated.

Someone who has a pre-existing condition is one who did not have insurance when they acquired this “condition” therefore it existed “before insurance.”
I do not know of a case where someone had a full coverage health care insurance policy and came down with an illness that was not covered before and after the condition was acquired and treated.
There are caps on policies that are usually something like $50 million that may cap coverage for someone.

On Meet the Depressed, Peggy still looks depressed that Boy Wonder let her down. Bill Bennett was the adult on the panel. What is it with Dems like Dionne (and Chucky) that lowering marginal tax rates does not necessarily mean lower taxes (even without JFK and Reagan style growth) if you remove deductions? Are they totally math challenged? (yeah, it’s a rhetorical question)

This is the equivalent of being allowed to purchase car insurance after you have been in a wreck to cover the wreck, or allowed to buy homeowners insurance to cover your house after it has burned down. This is no longer insurance.
There should be portability rules such that if you have had coverage and need to change from one carrier to another because cross-state health insurance is still not allowed, but covering “pre-existing conditions” is no longer insurance, it’s charity.

The MSM is nothing more than the announcers for the “Home” team. Team Obama can only win if Romney beats himself. Notice the the increase in “sky is falling” posters this weekend. Team Obama goes for the knock out punch every time they have an advantage whether or not it is real or imagined. They also know the only way Mitt loses is if he beats himself. While the Obama team continues to go for the knock out, the Romney team is playing the long game. I guess that is plenty of sports analogies for now…

That’s not the way it worked here. If you were treated for a knee injury when you were twenty, had insurance, kept insurance for twenty years, were without insurance for two weeks for some reason and signed back up, then ten years later needed knee surgery, you were denied because it was a pre existing condition. It happened all the time, and it just wasn’t right.

I didn’t see the wonder twin empty suit from San Antonio on Meet the Depressed this morning, but I did see Corey Booker, another fast talking, euphemism heavy, detail deficient legend in his own mind lightweight. The guy is the incompetent mayor of a run-down NYC suburban dump, not even as large a “city” as Anaheim, yet he’s a “national star”. Talk about setting the bar low. And Paul Krugman’s blind, irrational hatred of Paul Ryan is a perfect example of why Ryan was the right choice.

If Obama’s lead holds into Thursday, I can’t wait for the justified panic to set in even with the most partisan hacks. If Romney is still down Thursday, it’s no longer just a bounce and a solidified lead.
Maybe holding a convention where only Clint Eastwood dared criticize the Messiah wasn’t the best idea in the world? Maybe that’s why the GOP convention floor looked like it was full of zombies, while the Dems were fired up and energized?

This is nuts. I’m in the business and Paddy’s version is folly. Anthem BCBS is 1 year only, and AZ is right. Romney is going left big time and here we go with the “reset” in the general election. “Giving away” pre-existing conditions is no longer insurance. It is socialism. Pure and simple. It is giving insurance to anyone who wants it regardless of their condition. That is not insurance, as AZ points out. Allowing kids to stay on parents plan until 26 is socialism as well. If they have been covered by their college or parents plan, let them buy their own, but the point is personal responsibility. All should be able to get it and then if the parents want to help pay, that is one thing, but “under parents plan until 26″ is the camel’s nose under the tent – 26 is an arbitrary age, and in 5 years it will be age 30.
The more Romney gets specific the more disappointed I get. No Tea Party shout out at the convention and now a hard tack to the left towards O’Bamacare. Next he will replace with Massachusetts and no wonder he never “disavowed” the Mass plan in the primary.
If he does not get the 2010 turnout and splits he is toast……and who helped with that turnout? Hmmmm?

What’s magical about Thursday? All elections are all over the map, it’s not over until the votes are counted. Dramatic emotional swings help pharmaceuticals and group therapy coordinators. Would love to hear about any group therapy interchanges.

If it’s just a convention bump, those days numbers would have rolled off the average by then. If Obama’s lead holds then, it’s solid and won’t be broken.
And Obama is being super smart by putting together his “blocks of voters” strategy. With the demographics being what they are, it could be that the GOP just cannot win the Presidency anymore.

I agree, but Romney’s own comments today on CBS on adopting O’Bamacare’s “pre-existing” condition clause and “kids ’til 26″ is going to depress Tea Party support here. We are furious! The guy is a “moderate” like they all said he was in the primary and no wonder he did not disavow Mass healthcare.
Just let the states handle it, stay out of it, open it up to nationwide competition, limit malpractice awards, and the market will come down dramatically and take care of itself.
“Pre-Existing” removal is not insurance, was designed to bankrupt the insurance companies, (which it will), and drive everyone to the exchanges and the left’s real goal of gov single payer.
Imagine running any insurance company where you could have multiple car accidents with no consequences and find your house burned down and then go get coverage.
Without the 2010 turnout and splits, Romney is toast. It is not the libs but Romney’s own “reset” to the left that is depressing turnout.

I think the turn out will actually be very good. The people will just not be voting for Mitt Romney.
The people understand that Mitt was a huge mistake. They also understand that many other candidates are well worth voting for. The Down Ticket that Sarah Palin is working on.
But Periebus must be forced out. He is completely responsible for allowing the Democrat Mitt Romney to be our nominee and hiding who Mitt actually is.

I am not spinning, just my opinion locally, and make no claims to national pols.
I just came from Tea Party meeting and my opinions are purely anecdotal, but if their reaction was anything to extrapolate, I would be concerned. I think everyone is going to vote for O’Bama, but they are likely voters and read a lot. They are not stupid. “Repeal” O’Bamacare and then “replace” with provisions that are the same is flat out disingenuous. Particularly “pre-existing conditions” and “unitl age 26″.
This is just the reaction today to his interview this morning. We will see how it polls in a few days with “conservative” republicans. I will make this prediction, that if he keeps this up, because now he has opened the door to more specifics, he will by November depress 2010 turnouts, which was a record. I hope not, because he is going to need them all.

I think the voters are smarter than you are thinking.
The Tea Party needs to encourage voters to come out and vote for Conservatives. Let them know it is fine to not vote for Romney.
But they are smart enough to figure it out themselves.
We all know Sarah Palin means vote for the Down Ticket not for Romney.
We all know she was not invited to the Convention because she is not actually supporting Romney. That she is unlikely to actually vote for him.
I predict a huge number of blank votes for President.

We knew going in he was a moderate. I don’t think that allowing “kids” to stay on insurance policies is going to hurt the bottom line of insurance companies. Did he say how the pre-exsisting situation will be “fixed” because apparently although it is a statistically small number of people involved, it is considered a big problem in the eyes of the public. If the Tea Party thought it was done with their work on the election of Gov. Romney, I would be shocked. I think the best we can hope for in politicians is that they are trainable.

I would differ somewhat. I think the world of SP, she has made a huge difference on down-ticket races for conservatives. However, my take on why she was not invited, (just a lot of reading and pure speculation), is that she was going to “shout-out” and credit the Tea Party with some things and the Beltway Boys did not like that. They nixed it, and she nixed it. Really stupid on their part, and their assumption at the time that her “negatives” with indies would hurt the ticket, ( a lib meme that is totally bogus), and would not need her support. O’Bama is not worried about indies at all and has played to his base. Romney chose not to play to the Tea Party, (I think), because his aides figured who else are they going to vote for. Well, my point exactly on 2010 turnout……if the election turns on a 3-4% swing, Romney is going to need ALL of the Tea Party and SP’s support. He has chosen to go without it. Yes they will vote for him, and so will SP, but the height of idiocy not to make the Tea Party movement a prominent, rather than muted at best, part of the convention.
She is all class and will support Romney and has made getting rid of O’Bama a big deal.

What I pointed out I agree with.
But there is a difference between outward support and your actual vote.
I doubt many believe Sarah will actually pull the lever for Romney though at the same time if you ask her who she will vote for she will say Romney I agree.
One of the reasons I doubt the numbers Romney is getting. Many in the privacy of the voting vote will not be able to stomach actually voting for Obama or Romney.
I will throw you a bone though.
My Army Colonel Brother in Law in Texas (although he travels around a lot) says he is hearing from a lot of Democrats that they hate Obama and will vote for Romney. My father is saying the same thing about many of the Democrats he knows in the Senior Citizen age group.

Flora, I have and just did again, and there is nothing on that page that references anything regarding what he said today on “adopting pre-existing conditions from O’Bamacare” or the “until age 26″ provision of O’Bamacare. In fact, the quote below gives the opposite inference, in that the states would have the power and it would it would be a state’s issue. Apparently, the “federal government’s role will be…..” much greater than it implies. Deceptive at best, and now opens the door for asking him for more specifics……..pandering to the left is not going to get him votes. It is going to make “conservatives and indies” wonder how much is he going to “replace” with what he claims he will “repeal”!
MITT’S PLAN
On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Obamacare waivers to all fifty states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible.

Otherwise why did he say quite the opposite today? Why did he NOT repeat this?
Reality is he has to keep all of Obama Care or none of it. There is no way he will have 60 votes in the Senate to change it to his liking.
But quite likely thanks to Tod Akin that he will have 50 votes to repeal it. He said NO to that very strongly today. The mandate is a budget item. According to the SCTOUS ruling it is not severable thus repeal the mandate and the entire ACA is repealed.
The Replace would take 60 votes though. Romney does not have that thus he can not replace it. Thus he will keep it.

Looks like Sarah Palin was smart to sit this one out, although with even a modicum of credit to the Tea Party I think she would have spoken and really rallied the Tea Party.
As it is, if Romney does not realize the stupidity of the NBC quotes this morning, it is going to be a long 60 days. I am hopeful he will at least bring it back to even and attack the ideology. Like Rush says, conservatism wins every time it is tried. Acting like a RINO is not going to win it.

I’ve waited until this evening to watch Austan Goober on FNS. I decided to have a great time at family events today before watching Chris Wallace nuke him. Of course, he is blaming our unemployment and economic crisis on everything but Barry’s loser policies. He’s blamed a bad global economy already. I have a feeling this is going downhill from here.

Goober’s facial expressions and body language are dismissive and condescending, let alone his words, when Chris Wallace questions him about tax hikes in a depressed economy. David Lauria reminds me of Edmond O’Brien.
This CPOD prompted me to find that both are from New York and served in the military, Viet Nam and WWII, respectively. Lauria is of Italian descent and O’Brien of Irish.
My New Yorker ex-mother-in-law (Irish/Polish descent) told me that when she began dating her Italian-American husband (my ex-father-in-law), their relationship was frowned upon by both families because of the low regard each had for the other’s ethnicity. Theirs was then considered a “mixed marriage.”
Today, the divide is non-existent as those immigrant groups have melted in the pot to become American Americans. What they have in common is their God fearing, working class roots and identities.
