President Obama: “You’ll love me even more”

posted at 6:31 pm on September 8, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

But… but… I didn’t think that was even possible! [Swoons, faints.] Speaking from the campaign trail in Iowa on Friday night, via the Weekly Standard:

AUDIENCE MEMBER:  ”We love you, Obama!”

THE PRESIDENT:  ”I love you back.  But let me tell you the fourth thing — you’ll love me even more. Fourth, my plan would reduce our deficit without sticking it to the middle class.  Independent analysis has shown that my plan would cut deficits by $4 trillion.  And I’ve already worked with the Republicans in Congress to cut a trillion dollars’ worth of spending, because those of us who care about what government can do to help people give them a ladder up…”

Of course, taken in the full context, it was a perfectly appropriate and humorous response to the rowdy audience member who simply couldn’t manage to keep his enthusiasm bottled up inside; but as a one-liner, it’s just so… fitting. Given this president’s almost extraordinary level of amour-propre, it is wholly unshocking to me that that’s his natural quick-draw reaction to the situation. Telling, eh?

Well since Americans have to pay some form of tax, why don’t we just excuse these job creators from paying any taxes? Let their workers pay the required taxes instead. After all, we live to take care of their yachts and stuff. The least we can do for them is pay their share right? This anti self interest mentality is just mind boogling.

Another effective myth I credit rich republicans for perpetuating. Blame the welfare queen and young bucks for all your problems. The lazy guy who hangs out doing nothing all day. Not at all. Here are the final polls and they pretty much were spot on…
gumbyandpokey on September 8, 2012 at 7:09 PM

My point exactly. At this point in 2004 the race was thought to be leaning Kerry. For example:

“Despite Mr. Bush’s stronger showing, he still has a way to go. If all the states — even those within the margin of error — were to go to the current leading candidates, and the other 34 states go as they did in the 2000 election, Mr. Bush would get 231 electoral votes and Mr. Kerry would get 307.” (Wall Street Journal Battleground states poll, September 7, 2004)

Frankly, I don’t care what the polls say right now. I live and work in a small town with one of the highest unemployment rates in the state. There are so many small businesses that are failing, and families that are hurting. People are sick of Obama here. The tide is turning.

You are the dumb one for thinking a multi choice, stand for nothing, say anything to win tax evader candidate will stop welfare. You are the dumb one for thinking increasing taxes on the middle class will create jobs. Heck I don’t even believe increasing taxes on the rich create jobs. I do believe that if we are so obsessed over reducing the nations debt over creating jobs, the rich and the poor should pay something.
That’s the difference between you and me. You believe the rich should pay nothing because taxing them a single penny will cause them to ship their jobs overseas ~where they get taxed anyway. I believe the contrary.

That’s the same stupidity your side uses to explain that unemployment payments are really a stimulus program. It’s too moronic to even bother responding to. The poor and middle income are not buying from anybody unless they are employed which is a challenge thanks to Mr. Obama. They may keep businesses (goods and services) built by Americans- not government- profitable but that money has to come from somewhere.

So they don’t try to make money off the rich…oh and in general no they aren’t trying to make a bunch of money off the poor. Ask Les Wexner or Tim Cook. Yes the middle class is very important.

Correct! However the are forced into creating those jobs. They don’t start businesses to create jobs. They start businesses to make money off the poor and middle income American. That is how capitalism works. Not by thinking the rich voluntarily create jobs to make money.

farsighted on September 8, 2012 at 7:56 PM

By your analysis, we should just excuse the rich from paying any taxes since they will use those tax savings to create jobs correct? The rich make more money that way don’t they? They live to create jobs.
One very amazing thing I credit these ” job creators” for is their superb ability of brainwashing poor white working class men into accepting this flawed economic model. No wonder they remain poor.

HotAirLib on September 8, 2012 at 7:05 PM

Personally, I don’t think the rich should have to pay any more than the rest of us do. I’m for a national/fair sales tax. The rich pay the same percent for what they buy. If they buy a really expensive item like a Lear jet or a yacht, then they pay more in actual dollars.

Also, I don’t swoon over the wealthy like a few do. If John Smith was successful in business, then that benefits others. Now, if it didn’t work out for John Smith, then maybe it would’ve for John Stevens and so on.

I don’t believe that if this person or that had never existed, then that particular industry would never have existed. Same thing in science and technology. What I think many of the very successful do realize is that they have social responsibilities, not because someone tells them that they do, but because they are human beings.

The problem with noblesse oblige is that they tend to think that they are the ones who know better, because they are rich and successful. Henry Ford and George Pullman come to mind-and I suppose the various members of the Bilderberg Group and similar fraternities.

But that’s why we have a Constitution/Bill of Rights, courts and the government…these things are supposed to protect us from the excesses of the powerful. But the various governments being corrupted by criminality, self-interest, and ideology negates these historic protections our Founding Fathers devised.

So, we get what we have, and it’s certainly not just Obama, but he seems to be the master of manipulating the system in such a way as to not only pay off his benefactors and get rich himself, but also to reshape the system in order to bring it into Socialism-and I think that won’t go well.

You may want to consider what it would be like to live in a society where it really is forbidden or otherwise impossible to be successful. You guys always think you’ll be immune from deprivation and persecution by the State because you share their ideologies.

HotAirLib on September 8, 2012 at 7:50 PM

Are you really going to try saying that people start businesses with the inherent desire and willful intent to cause their workers harm?

And, just about your first sentence…no one is ever forced to start a business and create jobs.

Tell us all…what about companies that have profit-sharing programs for their workers? Not a stock option, something they will have to buy to get in on the deal. I’m talking about companies that ‘share the wealth’ by giving free bonuses to the employees.

How do you explain them?

You can’t do that and keep your liberal assertions at the same time. Which hints to me you have never worked a real blue-collar job in your entire life. Yet you dare presume to lecture us–we who are workers and, in some cases, are business owners who employ people?

Hint: One reason OWS is such a massive failure is because its leaders and adherents know nothing at all about the things they protest.

To the left it is because government is not directly involved.

I hasten to add that government is there every step of the way through oppressive regulation, taxation, and intrusion BUT they don’t set the price nor control what goods or services are produced. And that lack of control is what drives the left crazy.

The company retained its position as one of the world’s most profitable car makers in the first six months with an operating profit margin of 18.7%. This compares with profit margins of about 10% for other premium car makers. Many mass-market rivals have operating profit margins of 5% or less.

toliver on September 8, 2012 at 7:55 PM

I do not believe it is a rip off scheme. There is nothing wrong making a honest living by selling things to people who need them. What I was trying to convey was that the so called job creators only create jobs because of demand. Not because we’ve asked them to pay nothing.

FYI- I’m not claiming they currently don’t pay anything. I’m just saying they should pay a slightly higher rate since they can afford it the most. And don’t come back with that ” punishing success” meme. It’s a tired and lazy comeback.
