Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:01 am on September 5, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

In 2008, Barack Obama promised to change the way Washington works and to bring people together.  In 2012, CNN’s Jessica Yellin asked Obama why he couldn’t accomplish that in his first term, and Obama said that … it’s his family’s fault (~2 minutes, via Breitbart):

Even Yellin couldn’t quite believe this answer. “If this is such a priority,” she told Candy Crowley and Dan Balz, “why didn’t he do it?  I mean, you can carve out one night a week to go out and socialize and reach across the aisle.”  That excuse also ignores the 100-plus rounds of golf Obama has already played, eating up most of the Sunday time that could have otherwise been spent with his family — or even using golf to reach across the aisle, which Obama has done so rarely that it merited a large amount of media attention when he invited John Boehner along on a round.

New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor wrote about Obama’s use of free time in an article earlier this week:

For someone dealing with the world’s weightiest matters, Mr. Obama spends surprising energy perfecting even less consequential pursuits. He has played golf 104 times since becoming president, according to Mark Knoller of CBS News, who monitors his outings, and he asks superior players for tips that have helped lower his scores. He decompresses with card games on Air Force One, but players who do not concentrate risk a reprimand (“You’re not playing, you’re just gambling,” he once told Arun Chaudhary, his former videographer).

His idea of birthday relaxation is competing in an Olympic-style athletic tournament with friends, keeping close score. The 2009 version ended with a bowling event. Guess who won, despite his history of embarrassingly low scores? The president, it turned out, had been practicing in the White House alley.

But his failure on Hope and Change were because he was spending so much time … with his family.  Given his track record of blaming everyone but himself for his own failures, using his daughters as political shields is sadly just par for the course.

It’s time once again to show our support for Day By Day and its artist-publisher, Chris Muir.  Chris holds an annual fundraiser to keep the adventures of Sam, Zed, Jan, and Damon coming.  Chris, whose artwork has enhanced the OOTD feature since its inception for Hot Air readers, uses the funds raised for only the continuance of DBD.  As always, the fundraiser has many fabulous gifts available at whatever level one chooses to donate.  If you’re thinking about donating at the Jan/Damon level or above, you’ll get a Last Supper Red vs Blue magnet, which has depictions of personalities from New Media — myself included.  Donating at the Anatoly Level will get you a 9×15 print of the artwork.  Dig deep and be part of supporting the one of the best New Media cartoonists in the biz!

And if you want something really cool …

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

State run media reports that Dear Leader got 27 straight strikes even though he was bowling with his off-hand and wearing a blindfold.

Bishop on September 5, 2012 at 8:06 AM

He had to have family occupy his time, which is why he spoke so forcefully that he didn’t want his daughters punished with babies which lead to that uncomfortable family question they may ask one day about just how he views them.

Geeze. He coulda played golf with Republicans. (Did it once, as I recall.) Great way to socalize (and innoculate himself against criticism for all his golfing).

Probably didn’t want to because the Republican lawmakers would not give him mulligans and he would get beat. Can’t have that.

If he could reach across the aisle with his head up his butt, he’d be my pick for a Twister (r) world champion. Of course, his favorite spin would be “left hand red.”

Thie media is also trying to turn this into the 2012 version of the JFK /Jackie Camelot.

2009-????……..1/2 white/black Camelot.

For the media……..RACE and white guilt will drive the final days of the campaign if Obama is losing at that point.

I have to disagree. When a “pro” shoots par, (in golf), he’s heading for the bottom of the leader board, but it’s considered a respectable score. President Obama won’t even “make the cut” this November, because he can’t even keep the ball in the middle of the fairway. Everything he hits goes directly to the left—-and out of bounds.

Therefore, “par for the course” is a failing score.

Manufacturing went down last month.
The national debt just topped $16T
Unemployment is at 8.3% not counting those who have stopped looking.
Gas is at a record high for this time of year.

Golfing, playing cards, etc…. The rat-eared bastard is just training for retirement come January 20th.

Emperor Barack HUSSEIN Obama The Magnificent is what you get when you let a 5 year old grow up to still be 5 years old in a 50 year old’s body.

I think one of the biggest drags against him is the fact that he has an EXCUSE for everything. Nothing is his fault. EVER. You see, god-kings don’t make mistakes. Their minions do. Everything can be thrown under the bus. Except no bus ever made could climb over Mooch’s caboose.

Not familiar with Gravis, but it released 2 polls for OH and FL. Both are RV polls. and Doug Kaplan, the pollster, is a republican (this is what the DU crowd was focused on when they are discussing the results there).

OH
Barry 44, Romney 47 Romney +3
Brown 44, Mandel 44 Tie

D 42 R 37 I 21

FL
Barry 47, Romney 48 Romney +1
Nelson 43, Mack 42 Nelson +1

D 43 R 42 I 14

May be outliers, but demographics appear fair.

This is really at the heart of what is wrong with Barry’s presidency. Why not play golf with Boehner on a regular basis? Why not have something like a bipartisan beer summit? My theory is that Obama’s idea of bipartisanship is everyone worshipping him, and he is angry that politicos with 20+ years experience aren’t cowed by him.

If Obama really spent all that time with his family, Sasha and Malia must be great golfers, bowlers, and poker players, even if the country is going down the tubes.

Maybe a little O/T, but where is Jessica Yellin’s right leg? Does she have an unusual and uncomfortable sitting posture, or was it amputated?

Last night I couldn’t believe it when Mooch said she first knew she and Barry shared the same values when he talked about his family. And the speech was in the context of all her close family support. When she talked about her father walking to work 3 miles uphill in the snow both ways everyday, I wondered how many people like me were reminded about Barry’s abandoning, polygamist, alcoholic, abusive father. And his abandoning, radical, selfish mother. Yeah, their families shared a lot of the same values.

Like someone else wrote here earlier, it IS high school all over again, at least among the Left.

More likely, they stopped “change” at about the eighth grade and are acting-out what they think highschool will be like.

The rest of us grew up, went to college, had families, careers, lives of service and productivity with a few glitches along the way. The Left has stayed in perpetual juvenility and Obama (and his wife) certainly have.

Mayday on September 5, 2012 at 12:43 PM

They’re BOTH brats. Michelle Obama is somewhere around the age of twelve emotionally and psychologically and from the stories she used to tell before the White House escapades, she enjoyed living in a home her parents owned themselves (not an indication of an impoverished family), she had all the time in the world to sit in her room and study and do homework (indicates she was well indulged by her parents)…then went on to attend Ivy League schools despite, so she has joked in ridicule of those schools, she “didn’t do well on tests” whcih likely means she scored beneath admission requirements on aptitude tests but was admitted anyway, skin-color claims most likely why.

She resents the countr that gave her an above average start in life, heaps and heaps of unearned advantages and “values” that include barbaric practices, resentments, Socialism because it’s some sort of “get Whitey” method to take resources from others and redistribute to her favored and well-to-do adorers…

Barack Obama is a masterpiece in brat. His resentments run miles around even the most adled brat. The story Michelle told about his “rusty car” was pathetic, claiming that somehow defined him as impoverished. When I was in college — which I paid for myself by working my way through it — I didn’t have a car, much moreso a rusty one. In fact, a rusty car would have been a special addition to my years in school.

These two people don’t know the meaning of struggle. They only know what they believe is owed to them by others.

Yes, here’s hoping they will soon go there and get out of D.C. or be shown the door otherwise.

But they’re going to Hawaii BECAUSE they can continue their charade of being monarchs: the state still harbors the cultural tangent of believing in Kings and Queens and they do tend to find the Obamas something like gods among men and women.

I’m sure the Obamas have their eyes set on life in HI because the environment there will allow them to persist in their delusions.

At least they’ll be out of D.C.
