Newest racist dog whistle: “Chicago”

posted at 2:01 pm on August 30, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via the Right Newz and Newsbusters, this one’s much easier than Lawrence O’Donnell’s tortured “golf = racist” theory last night. Just a few easy steps: Obama administration –> corruption –> “Chicago” –> black neighborhoods –> racism. Say this for Tingles: In a week packed with moronic media race-baiting, with his co-hosts at MSNBC locked in an endless game of dog-whistle oneupsmanship, he’s somehow managed to stand out. This is really his niche; the rest of the press will play racial code-word parlor games sporadically, when the GOP is on the offensive and the left needs a little extra help, but Matthews does it all year long. Must be rewarding for him to see his perseverance pay off with recognition. This week is basically the dog-whistle Olympics for the media and he’s got the gold all but locked up with a day still to go. Hats off.

If you’re wondering what other phrases in common usage will soon be treated as thinly veiled racist attacks once they turn up in a Mitt Romney speech, this new list from the State Department might help. It’s not campaign related, but as DARPA could tell you, government innovations have a way of turning up in the civilian sector sooner or later. In the meantime, two clips for you here, one of the “Chicago” theory and the other of the master himself holding forth on why the GOP’s support of traditional values and a more laissez faire economy means “return to slavery” to a lot of people. If he’s like this now, imagine him mid-October if Obama’s staring at a three- or four-point deficit.

Update: Over at Townhall, Allen West wonders if Matthews is off his meds.

Even an extreme left wing organization like MSNBC may be forced to fire this lunatic Chris Matthews…

mnjg on August 30, 2012 at 2:51 PM

Just a few easy steps: Obama administration –> corruption –> “Chicago” –> black neighborhoods –> racism.

y’know, this remind me of organic chemistry. Back in the day, homeboy college professor would give us some organic element with a weird name, say 1,3 cis oxyfluoroethane and the original elements that made it. We would have to show the back reaction to get back to the original elements; quite a long, tortured reaction in most instances. That’s what essentially Chris is doing here, just without showing his work.

The end result –>racism.

The original elements–>republicans+stuff republicans say+any tangential relation to BHO

let’s see your work, Chrissy.

mnjg on August 30, 2012 at 2:52 PM

In all seriousness, this is an attempt by those on the left to silence anyone who dares to disagree with them, and to exert arbitrary control over even the language that we speak, setting themselves up as the arbiters of what is permissible and what is not.

It is an exercise in curbing freedom of speech, but even worse, works on a psychological level to exert domination over, and thus, control of, the culture and society in general.

thatsafactjack on August 30, 2012 at 2:42 PM

This is a serious question I have pondered some as well.
My conclusion is that this kind of crap will simply implode upon itself. It is NOT sustainable.
In the liberal game of “Identity Politics” this meme will simply turn on and consume itself. In the very near future, maybe next week, they will go too far and set their beloved “groupings” against each other. You simply CANNOT pander to everyone.

I think Gingrich is slated to speak tonight. I hope he uses his platform to unload on MSNBC’s, week long, race-baiting shenanigans.

heretic on August 30, 2012 at 2:38 PM

Actually, I think the RNC can show MSNBC the door. One could argue that the downright hostile programming toward the RNC does not equate to “fair and balanced news coverage.” And with MSNBC’s ratings as they are, the only folks that would be missing them is us (entertainment value) and the extreme left (Chris Matthews idol worship?)

Really, MSNBC ceased being a news organization long ago. They are the Pravda Network for the Socialists (disguised as democrats.)

So how many dyed in the wool democrats are watching the RNC? Only the politicians… not the ones in the voting bloc.

Turtle317 on August 30, 2012 at 2:44 PM

I actually thought about that too, but it would look unseemly on the RNC’s part only give license to the DNC to do the same to FOX at their convention for the slightest of infraction of perceived bias.

heretic on August 30, 2012 at 2:55 PM

Appears to me that Matthews is more than just a blithering idiot who sees and hears racism where none exists. He’s clearly on the verge of a psychotic break from reality.

A half-dozen electroshock therapy treatments, daily doses of Haldol, and long-term care in a secure psychiatric facility should fix him right up.

STAT!

heretic on August 30, 2012 at 2:55 PM

I think we are way past the point of “perceived bias.” When a professinal news organization is there to “cover” a convention, it is to do just that. One could make a powerful argument over the first night of MSNBC’s so-called “coverage.”

When you make a charge like racism your central mime, and fail to cover all minorities (except Haley) at the convention that made up half of the night’s events, the RNC would have every right to toss them out due to “lack of coverage.”

I mean, really, MSNBC could watch the live stream on YouTube with the rest of us and do the same lousy job they’re doing now. The only difference is they wouldn’t be able to insult the RNC participants with what passes as an “interview.”

Destruction of the family, businesses jobs, freedom, in its place, drugs, crime, teen pregnancy, sloth, dependency…heck, those things are just minor collateral damage in the goal of installing Marxism American style.

Not only that, but for most of its history, one of the main purposes of the Machine was to keep minorities “in their place” and keep white people in positions of power and privilege. So reality is the opposite of Matthews’ impression. The Machine still keeps people in their place, but now folks who would have once been excluded from it now gladly take advantage of it. Those groups who once worked to challenge the system now perpetuate it. So now a system that was racist by design is ironically considered racist to challenge or even to evoke….

If the conservatives who watch Matthews waiting to be outraged just stopped tuning in, his audience would probably be down to zero.

As with most of the Democratic politicians and activists who “turned journalist” when they lost their jobs, Matthews has never been anything but a leftist hack. He feigned patriotism for a few years after 9/11, but returned to socialist treason the minute he felt safe in doing so.

Tuning in to MSNBC will be like watching some low grade horror pic. There will be wailing, gnashing of teeth, sudden screams of utter terror – people foaming at the mouth and tearing their hair out from the unbearable pain. A full blown meltdown of humanity that will be comedy gold.

It wouldnt surprise me to see Chrissy and Ed biting the heads off of hamsters before the show ends. As it fades to black, there will be the entire crew, in a dark, dank place. Their faces turned upwards towards a small shaft of light. They’ll be last seen muttering “messiah, messiah, we let you down…………….”

BacaDog on August 30, 2012 at 4:41 PM

Dog whistles are only heard by dogs and the Republican code words are supposedly only heard by fellow, racist Republicans. So why does Matthews hear them? Seems like the only ones hearing racist words are MSNBC people.

Vince on August 30, 2012 at 2:33 PM

You are correct. However, it is believed that Chris and certain other select MSNBC personnel have secretly obtained from unnamed sources in the international arms trade, military grade pitch modulators, which can render such high frequency auditory signals within the range of human hearing.

Originally developed by Bell Labs in limited production under the codename Operation Honey Trap,, these remarkable devices were secretly requisitioned by the FBI at the personal direction of J. Edgar Hoover. They were originally designed to capture the instructions believed to be cleverly hidden in operas broadcast by foreign intelligence services to their female operatives overseas.

The existence of such devices has been steadfastly denied by U.S. authorities. Nonetheless, rumors persist that, equipped with such devices as a protective measure at a Barbra Streisand concert circa 1968, a small contingent of male FBI agents may have carelessly left them in a Los Angeles hotel room, where they were stolen and introduced into the illegal arms trade.

Conceding that the foregoing “dog whistle” theory remains unconfirmed, a small but vocal group of specialists in low voltage electronics has pointed out that while the devices themselves are small, they do require a high DC capacitance. As originally designed, the battery pack was concealed in the heel of a shoe and connected by wire to a “bud” in the ear. Such a design, these experts point out, is susceptible to intermittent “shorting,” typically experienced as a tingle, particularly in a moist bodily environment, such as that caused by perspiration or incontinence.

By making wild and untenable allegations of discimination and bias – in an effort to savage someone’s credibility – they actually do great harm to the cause of those who are still suffering from actual discrimination and bigotry by desensitizing the nation’s mindset.

I haven’t been the only one but months ago I said by the time the election rolls around the media will be portraying/saying Romney is Satan.

The inference here (not even a dog whistle)…….

Your diagnosis is correct. Matthews is suffering from tinnitis.

I bring up Chicago all the time when talking about Obama… It was his post grad effort… and it’s a mess. You NEVER hear these a’holes bragging about how awesome Chicagoans are doing since Obama ‘helped’ them.
-
Do I think in terms of the number of blacks in Chicago…? No. is it a higher percentage than Philly? I don’t know. But Chicago has been doing double digit shootings pretty regularly these last few years. I know that much. And I know that Obama cut his teeth there.
-
Chrissy has selective hearing… and single minded understanding of what his bias lets him hear. He exposes that every day.

Does this mean Peter Cetera belongs to the Klan?

steebo77 on August 30, 2012 at 2:11 PM

Well when Michelle goes into food desert neighborhoods in Chicago isn’t what she is really saying is:

“These white people been keepin your food from you!!” and “Barack and I and our Democrat friends want to feed you.”

“Republicans hate you, want to kill you in floods in New Orleans or starve you in da hood”.

Wait……….was that a leftie whistle I heard?

Hell… I’ve said these four words in one sentence… and the three unstruck in that order.

So they can’t get picture IDs in Chicago?

All these verbal games grow out of the notion that complexion tells you who is to be blamed and who is not. It is a dangerous game because race is no game. If the tragic history of the old Jim Crow South in this country is not enough to show that, the history of racial and ethnic tragedies is written in blood in countries around the world. Millions have lost their lives because they looked different, talked differently or belonged to a different religion. Thomas Sowell

Chris Matthews diminishes the reality and increases the danger of real racism every time he opens his mouth. It is no game.

Add “eloquent” and “articulate.” Applied to the mulatto messiah these seemingly complimentary terms can only be considered racist.

spiritof61 on August 30, 2012 at 6:53 PM

Holder wanted to have some kind of brave race conversation. I wonder if we’ll ban mention of his hometown during the brave conversation.

Buddahpundit on August 30, 2012 at 8:06 PM

Matthews is clearly a racist himself, but he feels guilty about it, and of course he only wants the best for all “THOSE PEOPLE” He knows every white person must be just as much a racist as his, but moste white folks aren’t as high minded as he is and aren’t looking out for the best interests of THOSE poor, darling, pitiful people who really do need his help.

If you still see a racist behind every bush, it could just be the result of seeing a racist in the mirror every morning.

flyfishingdad on August 30, 2012 at 8:27 PM

The most powerful man in the world is so weak and fragile that he must be protected from the mere mention of his adopted home town’s name? Chris Matthews really believes that black men are so deficient that they cannot bear criticism? This is an unspeakable racism!

Richard Blaine on August 31, 2012 at 3:12 AM

I watched a bit of “Hardball” after Romney’s speech. Chrissy toned it way, way down.

Maybe the top brass at MSNBC has had enough.

The brand of NBC News is now forever tainted by this asshat.

How many people of color were murdered in 0bama’s liberal town of ChiTcago last week, and when was the last time he was there to address this epidemic of murderous behavior in the city that does not allow private gun ownership?
